!YMMV for the series
* BaseBreakingCharacter: Basically every contestant to some extent, including:
** Some fans like Nick Viall as the Bachelor and felt he was a good choice after having been runner-up on two previous seasons. Other fans cannot stand him for being an AttentionWhore who just wanted to extend his FifteenMinutesOfFame. The fact that he and his winner (Vanessa) broke up not long after doesn't help. Then with his podcast a lot of other Bachelor alums have taken to calling him out on some his views, defending Bachelors and Bachelorettes he's called out, which Nick will usually then take as a personal slight against him.
** Another Bachelor who much of the fanbase is divided on is Sean Lowe. Some fans loved him for being a Born Again Christian who refused to take advantage of the "fantasy suite" date, while others have criticized him for this reason, as he had had sex before, just not with his girlfriend (now wife).
** Kaitlyn Bristowe received a lot of flack during her season because she slept with Nick Viall before the "fantasy suite" date, while others have referred to this as SlutShaming and felt much of the hate was unwarranted.
** Blake on [=BiP=], while he does seem like a generally good guy, the fact that he was having tet-a-tets with pretty much all the women made him come off like an Immature Man Whore, with one of the Bachelorettes joking, "Did he even have time to Shower?" and his constant annoying crying when everything hit the fan for him at the end due to his behavior. Others see him as TheWoobie for reasons listed below.
** Jordan Kimball- Some viewers didn’t like him for his over the top personality and talking about being a male modeling too much. Other viewers enjoyed his antics, and thought of him as an eccentric goofball with a good heart.
** Peter Webber as the Bachelor is an interesting case as his season is seen to be lackluster overall. While not really hated, he was found to be relatively boring, and didn't seem to have chemistry with any of his ladies. His indecisiveness and floundering Rose Ceremonies didn't help, nor did the fact that he and his bachelorette broke up literal days after the final rose.
** Like Peter, Matt James as the Bachelor is very polarizing. While he isn't hated, not in the least, being seen as a genuine nice guy with a good heart, as well as his historic turn as the first African-American Bachelor, his inability to put an end to the drama with Victoria for so long led to many detractors.
** Dale to a lesser extent. He really didn't seem to be the villain of his short stay, or even a bad person in general, the fact that he was the obsession of Clare Crawley, often seen to be the worst Bachelorette in the history of the franchise, who would often times treat the other men like shit because they weren't Dale, he received his share of hostility from the Bachelor Nation. Not helped by the fact that he and Clare broke up shortly after her aborted time as the Bachelorette, ''twice''.
* BrokenBase:
** Kaitlynn bring [[BaseBreakingCharacter Nick Viall]] on as a contestant in the middle of the season. Was this a fun, intriguing twist that shook up a fairly boring season for the better? Or an unfair move to the other contestants and just more pandering to an AttentionWhore that the producers liked?
** Was Blake in the right after releasing the tweets during his time on [=BiP=]? While no one ever believes Caelynn was innocent in the situation, after her multiple verbal assaults on him and his character, the debate remains if Blake crossed a major line in exposing her private tweets to the world in an attempt to defend himself, especially after her well known history as a survivor of rape and sexual abuse. While a lot of people, including the producers and many of the other Bachelor and Bachelorettes, say yes he went too far, just as many say no.
** Demi still hanging around on "Bachelor In Paradise" after she definitively hooks up with her girlfriend Kristen from back home. Many people point out this defeats the purpose of the show, as she found love and was taking up space for other Bachelors and Bachelorettes to have their chance, therefore the two should have just left the Beach. On the other hand, other people were happy she remained, as her commentary on events was often seen to add levity to some of the more serious moments during the season.
** Greg vs. Katie in their breakup during hometowns. One third of the fandom is on Katie's side, saying that Greg emotionally abused her when she didn’t react to his confession of love in the way he was wanting her to even after she had reassured him all season that he was her front-runner; another third is fully on Greg's side, saying that Greg was justifiably hurt after pouring his heart out to Katie and getting a seemingly bland reaction in response; and the last third is taking the option in the middle, saying that while Katie screwed up in responding to Greg's "I love you," he had no right to blow up at her in the way that he did.
* EnsembleDarkHorse: Probably the best example would be Corinne Olympios during Nick's season. Although she was painted as the villain, she quickly became a fan-favorite with her [[LargeHam over-the-top personality]] and crazy catchphrases.
** Ashley S. from Chris Soules' season for her CloudCuckoolander personality.
** Michelle Money and Courtney Robertson for being the [[AlphaBitch Alpha Bitches]] during Brad Womack's and Ben Flajnick's seasons respectively.
** Joe "Grocery Joe" Amabile from Becca's season. Despite only being in one episode and having limited screen-time, he became an instant fan-favorite, being invited back for ''Bachelor in Paradise'' and even later appearing on ''Series/DancingWithTheStars''.
** John Paul Jones, for being the "[[MemeticMutation Meme King]]", with his funny, likable and affluent personality, multiple attempts too defuse situations between the other Bachelors and love of Chicken Nuggets. Even Chris Harrison joking to Hannah "I think America wants to know, how could you let [=JPJ=] go?"
** Stephanie from Jason Mesnick's season, for her sympathetic story of losing her husband and being a genuinely kind-hearted woman and a wonderful mother. In "The Women Tell All", the audience noticeably bursts into cheers when she's introduced--"Who doesn't love Stephanie?" indeed.
** Katie from Matt's season. After the first couple episodes portrayed her as the quirky one of the contestants, Katie went on to win over fans by being a genuinely NiceGirl, as well as the only one brave enough to call out the toxic bullying in the house. Even though she is sent home rather unceremoniously, many have called her the highlight of a season filled with unnecessary drama and toxicity.
** And then of course there's Wells from Jojo's season. He was instantly well liked for his charm, his funny quips and just seeming to be a fun guy all around. The show noticed it too, and brought him around to serve as the [[BreakoutCharacter Bartender for "Bachelor's in Paradise,"]] where he offers advice and pep talks to the other Bachelors and Bachelorettes, as well as adding color commentary on events for the audience. The fact that he ended up as Creator/SarahHyland's husband, as well as the insanely adorable story of how he didn't just ask for her actual mother and father's permission before proposing but also her ''Series/ModernFamily'' parents Creator/JulieBowen and Creator/TyBurrell's blessing as well [[labelnote:*]]which they gave[[/labelnote]], makes him all the more endearing in many peoples' eyes.
* HarsherInHindsight: After Cassie had to file a Restraining Order against Colton, for his constant harassment after she broke things off, it really is hard to watch his season without noticing a lot of red-flags in his behavior.
** It gets even worse as he's come out as gay, which makes the red-flags in his behavior now seem as a [[HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday desperate attempt to appear heterosexual]].
* HilariousInHindsight: On his appearance during the 2019 season, Creator/BillyEichner jokingly suggested that Colton Underwood might be gay. As it turned out, he was right.
* MemeticMutation: Men getting overly emotional on the series is referred to as "pulling a Mesnick", after Bachelor Jason Mesnick did so several times over his own season.
* MoneyShot: If female, someone who didn't get a rose is invariably shown crying on the way out.
** From Colton's season, the long awaited "Jumping the Gate" moment was shown in practically ever preview during the entire season. When the fabled moment finally came to be, the show milked it for all its worth.
* MoralEventHorizon: From Matt’s season, many fans feel the Anna spreading a rumor that Brittany, one of five new girls who arrived on week three, was an escort. This rumor could potentially ruin Brittany’s life, and many people have pointed it out that it could possibly put her in danger.
* MorePopularReplacement: Tayshia for Clare. In comparison Tayshia has proven to act much more maturely than Clare, a woman over a decade older than her, and has treated all the Bachelors kinder and more compassionately in her first evening alone than Clare did (unless they were Dale), during the entirety of her short run as Bachelorette. During the rest of the season she proved to have a genuine interest in getting to know all the men, kept a level head when confronting the inevitable drama that was thrown her way, responding in a firm but even tempered manner, and in general really just kept continuing to live up to the friendly, empathetic and sweet-natured woman she had been seen as throughout her tenure in the franchise.
* {{Narm}}: Colton's a virgin. Don't worry if you forgot, they'll bring it up another 50 times per episode to remind you.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap:
** Both Jason and Molly became very disliked after Jason broke off his engagement with Melissa, during the After The Rose special, to get back together with Molly who was the runner up. However the fact that the two are, as of over 10 years later, still together, being HappilyMarried and having [[BabiesEverAfter a daughter]] to boot, people have come to realize, that while Jason went about it the wrong way, he ultimately made the right choice.
** After his failure to choose either Jenna or [=DeAnna=], Brad quickly became Bachelor Nation's public enemy #1! Bear in mind that this was before Juan Pablo, Brad was easily the most hated Bachelor up to that point. So to peoples unpleasant surprise, when it was announced that Brad would have another go around as the Bachelor, the Bachelor Nation did not react well. However, as his season went on, it became clearer and clearer, Brad did seem to have an emotional investment with the ladies, particularly Emily, and seemed to have matured from his past mistakes. So when he proposed, and Emily accepted, it was a well thought of moment. Even when their relationship didn't make it to marriage, fans still tend to look back much more fondly on Brad's second tenure as the Bachelor.
* TheScrappy: Has its own page.
* StrawmanHasAPoint: The popularity of fan-favorite Peter Kraus during Rachel's season went downhill after he admitted he didn't know if he would feel ready to propose to her. Keep in mind, however, in the early seasons of the show, it was common for the Bachelor to not propose to his pick, and the contestants hardly spend any time with the Bachelor/Bachelorette by the time of the finale, and only go on a handful of dates at most.
** Also, Juan Pablo faced much criticism for the same reasons during his season after he decided not to propose to his winner, Nikki Ferrell, and instead decided to just try a relationship before taking the next step.
* TakeThatScrappy: Hannah's complete tearing down of Luke P, after surprisingly showing up at the final rose ceremony, making it perfectly clear she doesn't want him there, over and over again. Special mention goes toward her physically lifting up the rose pedestal and walking past him after he refused to leave, the other three guys coming forward to support her, and fan favorite Tyler C. delivering a chilling "Or what!" after Luke P threatens the guys to "Lay your hands off of me..." leading to Luke P look completely intimidated and fearful of the man.
** Later on during the tell all, when Hannah and the other men once again tear him down in front of the entire live audience, he gets up and walks out of the studio. Even Chris Harrison concludes, "I think that's the perfect symbol of let's move on," with Hannah agreeing, "The Luke P. show is over," and openly apologizing not just to the men, but to the Bachelor Nation for keeping him around so long.
--->'''Hannah''': I just want to say Bachelor Nation, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for this whole thing with Luke and him just being on our television screens for so long, way longer than really any of us ever desired. It's my fault, ''a lot of it his'', but I did it. I was there, I'm sorry. I'm tired of talking about him, Chris are you tired of talking about him?\
'''Chris Harrison''': ''Amen!''\
'''Hannah''': Are you all tired of talking about him?\
''(All the guys and the studio audience cheer)''\
'''Hannah''': The Luke P. show is cancelled!\
''(Audience applause grows louder)''\
'''Hannah''': We will not renew for another season. Again my apologies, and God bless The United States of America. ROLL TIDE!!
** Even before that, after Luke P goes on a tirade after learning that she and Peter had sex in the windmill during their dream date, Luke tries to hide his self righteousness behind his religion after Hannah tells him to back off. Hannah, also a Christian, makes her feelings clear, "I have had sex, and guess what. Jesus still loves me." Then tells him he's eliminated, escorting him to the limo herself, refusing him a hug or a chance for him "To Pray over [her]," and even flipping him the bird before it leaves.
** Emily drilled into Kalon during the Men Tell All Special, after he faux apologized for his actions against her and her daughter, after he posted a picture of baggage on social media a few days before, with the caption "Thought for sure I'd see Emily Maynerd here!"
--->'''Kalon''': Emily, obviously I'd like to apologize for the way things transpired. I am sorry for the way things went down between us, and I am using it as a growing experience for my future relationships, and I really wish the best for you.\
'''Emily''': And you, my dear, should be a politician cause that is the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard!\
''(Audience goes wild)''
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter
** Many fans were NOT happy at Sarah Coffin's early elimination on Peter's season. She was just out of a serious relationship (almost engaged!), and many thought that could have been interesting.
** Daria Rose, a Hurricane Sandy survivor who was accepted to seven Ivy League schools is eliminated in the first week of Clayton’s season.
* WhyWouldAnyoneTakeHimBack: Lauren Burnham accepting Arie Luyendyck Jr.'s proposal, after he not only broke up with original pick, Becca Kufrin, after weeks of being engaged, but also for how he handled the entire thing.
* TheWoobie:
** Blake Horstmann is one, most notably in season 6 of Bachelor in Paradise. His misfortune at Paradise ranges from fellow paradise-goer Caelynn Miller-Keyes screaming at him about a one-night stand previously, to Kristina Shulman, the girl he had been attracted to for almost all of Paradise, breaking off their relationship. It's safe to say that he's had a terrible Paradise. Oh, and let's not forget the finale when he was in the hot seat...
*** It's almost gotten to a hilarious degree that the world in general seems to have it out for Blake, as in January 2020, he was sent to the hospital, after being caught up in a physical altercation. The dude just really can't catch a break.
** Hannah Ann Sluss is another, bring the victim of a misunderstanding that led to another contestant calling her names and blowing their lid off at her.
*** She became even more of one after the finale of Peter's season. After he and Madison broke up, he then decided to propose to Hannah Ann as a consolation prize, and when she found out he still had feelings for Madison, she broke it off with him. She then called him for it on After the Final Rose, and quickly became a fan-favorite after that.
** Brittany from Matt James’ season. She is put into a horrible position by being one of the “new girls”, and gets treated the worst simply because she kisses Matt. She gets slut-shamed, bullied to her face, and worst of all, gets accused of being an escort by Anna. And then the show broadcasted it, basically spreading the rumour worldwide, and potentially ruining her life.

!YMMV for the film:
* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: Despite it being rushed due to lack of budget. The prospective brides at the end are a rather impressive. With the crew gathering over a thousand women (& men!) to chase Jimmie.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: After Artie puts the ad in the paper, the film shows various women across the city noticing and getting dressed for the ad. With only a dozen or so in the church near the end. Then cuts straight to Jimmie's friends seeing HUNDREDS of brides mob the church. For context, the original Seven Chances had a slow start of one bride, the a few, then a few dozen before hundreds fill the church and streets.
* OneSceneWonder: The main talkers of the brides (Those being the punk bride, biker bride, older bride, peppy bride and African American bride) only talk during the church, with their criteria scene being one of the more memorable moments of the movie.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot:
** During the church scene, they could've had the previous lovers of Jimmy show up knowing he's worth money now. It could've been both funny and interesting to see them interact with both Jimmy again and all the other brides.(Plus a reference to Brideless Groom.)
** On that note the entire bride chase feels rather wasted. Given that some of the brides have some personality plus having more women chasing than Seven Chances, they could've made a chase that was more chaotic or at least on the standard of Seven Chance's chase. (Their was some aspects in the trailers that didn't make the cut, like Jimmy enter a bus to see dozens of brides filling it, or jumping from the top of buses full of brides with more filling the street.)
