%%* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: To his haters, Scrappy was considerably better received in this series.
%%* TheScrappy: To a lot of viewers, Flim-Flam.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation:
** In "It's a Wonderful Scoob", some time after Scooby-Doo goes into a TenMinuteRetirement and Time Slime opened the chest of demons, Vincent Van Ghoul shows him the BadFuture that resulted in it. But would this ''really'' happen if Scooby's decision to quit the gang stuck, or was this all [[TricksterMentor a big illusion created by Van Ghoul specifically]] [[ScareEmStraight to scare Scooby straight]]? Consider the fact that Time Slime wanted to destroy those kids for good (his words), and Scooby's replacement was nowhere to be seen in the Bad Future.
** Bernie Gumsher. In his first appearance, he was largely apathetic to anything and everything that went on around him. How would he have changed in the bad future? Or would he have changed at all?
* AudienceAlienatingEnding: One of the more infamously audacious cases in animation history: the show was cancelled ''one episode'' before the intended finale, so only twelve of the thirteen ghosts were returned to the Chest of Demons. Fans had to wait over ''thirty years'' in real-time for [[WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooAndTheCurseOfThe13thGhost a follow-up]], and even that [[RiddleForTheAges raised as many questions as it answered]]. Cue the BrokenBase!
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRV5raXCDkA The theme tune.]]
** The Time Slime song.
* CultClassic: Among the "Scrappy era" seasons, this one tends to be well-remembered among a subset of fans.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Vincent Van Ghoul. Then again, he is voiced by ''Creator/VincentPrice''.
* {{Fanon}}: The theory floated by some that the Ship Captain from "Ship of Ghosts" was one of the 13 ghosts. This seems to be elevated into AscendedFanon by the synopsis for the episode on iTunes saying so and by ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooAndTheCurseOfThe13thGhost'', at least per WordOfGod by the writer.
* HilariousInHindsight: In "Me and My Shadow Demon" with the filibuster to dawn Scooby ends the song with the final line "It's time to say goodbye" while holding out the last note as long as he can. This was several years before ''Con te partiro" was written a famous song whose English version is called "Time to Say Goodbye" and where the singer traditionally holds out the last note as long as they can.
* InferredHolocaust: "It's a Wonderful Scoob" again, if one does take Vincent Van Ghoul's vision of the future as accurate. Time Slime managed to turn the entire world into a mechanical wasteland and Shaggy Rogers is directly called "the last rebel on Earth". Besides the main cast NO ONE else is spotted in the entire part of the episode. Not even new character Bernie Gumsher.
* MoralEventHorizon: Bogel and Weerd don't ''seem'' serious enough to have anything to do with this...but then in "Ship of Ghouls", upon seeing Scooby on the verge of a nervous breakdown, they gleefully attempt to frighten him ''to death''. It's easy to forget because they're so unsuccessful and it's all so slapsticky, but at their core they are still attempting to ''murder'' Scooby (in a very unpleasant manner) with zero remorse.
* {{Shipping}}:
** This series is often regarded as one of the main series for the Shaggy/Daphne pairing. Some things interpreted as a ShipTease by some include:
*** Opening sequence: Daphne is practically wrapping her arm around Shaggy.
*** To All the Ghouls I Loved Before: Shaggy and Daphne share a long embrace after Daphne is returned to normal. Scooby looks on happily.
*** Reflections in a Ghoulish Eye: Daphne leans on Shaggy to catch her breath after running.
*** That's Monstertainment: The Scooby gang is all living in the same house.
*** Scooby in Kwackyland: Shaggy has his arm around Daphne on the raft as Platypus Duck takes the gang up the river.
*** The Ghouliest Show on Earth: Look when Shaggy runs off with Daphne, Mumsie and Dada Doo. His hands look very close to if not on Daphne's rear.
** Flim Flam presents himself as a new character to the franchise who in the recent past sometimes gets paired to another Creator/HannaBarbera character. Now that he is going to be reintroduced with a PlotRelevantAgeUp, this may be expanded on soon.
* SpiritualAdaptation: ''VideoGame/ScoobyDooMysteryMayhem'', due to being a ''Franchise/ScoobyDoo'' video game where Scooby and Shaggy use an enchanted artifact to capture ghosts and other supernatural creatures, can be seen as the closest thing to a LicensedGame of ''The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo''.
* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel: This show is generally agreed to be much better than the earlier "Scrappy Era" outings. Mainly due to Scrappy being [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap better received]] here and the interesting premise.
* TearJerker:
** Daphne being put into an enchanted sleep and the gang's reactions, with Scrappy tearfully begging her to PleaseWakeUp, Shaggy relentlessly trying everything he can to rouse her. Becomes heartwarming when she awakens at the end of the episode.
** The BadFuture of "It's a Wonderful Scoob".
