* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HrFrAspWF8 main theme]] by Robert J. Kral would be used in other DCAU films starring Superman.
* CatharsisFactor: For those who despise child murderers, watching [[spoiler:Superman's clone drop Toyman from several hundred feet in the air]] is a satisfying sight to behold.
* CompleteMonster: [[PsychopathicManchild Toyman]] is a criminal with an unhealthy obsession with children who views the entire world as his plaything. Taking advantage of Superman's death, Toyman uses a [[SpiderTank giant robot spider]] to rob banks, then uses the robot to take a [[BusFullOfInnocents school bus full of children hostage]], threatening to [[WouldHurtAChild drop the bus off a building]] if the cops don't let him keep the money. ComicBook/LoisLane manages to save most of the kids, but a robot toy on the bus prevents her and one of the children from leaving. Seeing that most of the children he kidnapped have escaped, Toyman attacks Lois and the child. Toyman's robot throws the bus off the building with Lois and the child on board before being captured. Toyman quickly escapes from the police and attacks a day care center, where he kills a four-year-old.
* HarsherInHindsight: Lex Luthor had invented a cure for muscular dystrophy, but withholds it until he can modify it to be more profitable. In ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueGodsAndMonsters'', Lex appears to be in bad need of that medicine himself.
* HoYay: Lex Luthor's obsession raised quite a few eyebrows. His [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91IZfMWoQtg interactions]] with [[spoiler:clone Superman]] in the red sun room don't help matters. It's one thing to [[spoiler:use a red sun room and Kryptonite-knuckled gauntlets to beat up a Superman clone while shirtless]], even if it concludes with [[spoiler:straddling the supine Superman clone to taunt "''who's your daddy''"]], it's another to grab him and wail, "''Why did you leave me? WHY''?!"
* MagnificentBastard: The [[KnightTemplar Superman clone]] was created by ComicBook/{{Lex Luthor}} to assist him in his takeover of Metropolis. Inheriting the fallen Man of Steel's powers, the clone uses them to trick the populace into thinking Superman has resurrected, while instilling his own brand of vigilante justice by way of furiously dropping Toyman in front of the police station after he killed a child during his escape from custody. Believing that MightMakesRight, while instilling fear in the populace in a genuine attempt to bring peace to Metropolis, the clone, wanting to break free of Luthor's control over him, secretly takes out a kryptonite pellet Luthor had implanted in his brain as a failsafe, destroys his room of Superman clones, and incapacitates Luthor by pulling out the entire safe room he's hiding in and chucking it into the street. Getting into a power struggle with the revived Superman, the clone puts up a good fight, ultimately dying after telling Superman to [[LastRequest protect his fellow townsfolk]].
* MemeticMutation: "And '''you''' are on '''''MY NAUGHTY LIST'''''!"
* MoralEventHorizon: Toyman murdering a 4-year-old girl definitely counts as this.
* NightmareFuel: See [[NightmareFuel/SupermanDoomsday here]].
* {{Squick}}: Suspicious of Luthor, Clone Superman casually walks into a beauty parlor and sits at one mirror in what at first is a really bizarre scene. [[spoiler: He then uses his x-ray vision to spot the kryptonite encased in lead that Luthor planted in his brain. He then surgically removes it with his heat vision and a pair of scissors.]] We don't see any of this, but it's no wonder one of the workers fainted.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Despite being the titular character, Doomsday is killed off one-third of the way through the film with no hint of him coming back.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot:
** The film could have had a more compelling climax if Doomsday came back to life, forcing Superman and his clone to team up and defeat him in a more permanent fashion.
** With the Superman clone gradually turning bad, he could have eventually transformed into Bizarro.
