* ContestedSequel:
** ''Trendsetters'' is basically the same as the first game, but with updated graphics and some added content. Typical complaints are ItsTheSameNowItSucks and the lack of option for your character to romance anybody, despite the large number of male characters (although the Japanese version does have a patch that allows you to design a male character as you desire and take pictures with him on dates).
** Some fans were disappointed with a de-emphasis on creating custom pieces and a lack of a fulfilling replacement for fashion shows in ''Styling Star''. However, it has also been praised for its new story elements, fleshed out characters and fantastic music.
* EvenBetterSequel: ''Fashion Forward'' has been praised for this, having much more variety over the previous games.
* FriendlyFandoms: Has some overlap with the ''VideoGame/PrettySeries'' due to the fact they're made by the same developer and both feature VirtualPaperDoll mechanics. Especially after ''Styling Star'' added the musical element. A lot of ''Style Savvy'' fans also play ''VideoGame/LoveNikki''.
* GirlShowGhetto: Is a rarely discussed Nintendo IP due to being a girly game about fashion, though it actually sells decently well (with the original selling 2 million copies worldwide) and gets good reviews. Many people even complained about how a "shovelware" game got onto the Wii U's Virtual Console instead of more "worthy" titles.
%%* ItsTheSameNowItSucks: Main complaint about ''Trendsetters''.
* LesYay:
** Xiaoling's obsession with Callie can easily be thought of as a crush.
** Many fans of ''Styling Star'' love to ship Rosie with Camilla. [[https://sevendaysfriend.itch.io/rose-garden A fan even made]] a [[FanGame Visual Novel]] about them.
* {{Moe}}: Many of the female characters are quite endearing. Sophie from ''Fashion Forward'' and Rosie and Alina from ''Styling Star'' are especially notable examples.
* ScrappyMechanic:
** The first game has a very awkward interface that forces the player to hold their DS vertically; it's especially inconvenient for left-handed players. Luckily, later games fix this.
