* AmericansHateTingle: This show is largely obscure in the United States, but when it ''has'' come up, typically in the context of Website/YouTube "cartoon community" reviews, it gets outright panned for its mean-spirited nature and repetition; meanwhile, in its native UK, the show is a reasonably strong CultClassic.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Liz may be horrid to Eric, but a lot of people find her funny.
* FridgeBrilliance: While Eric does never win at the end of every episode, him always dying in the end could, in a twisted way, be seen as a reward, given that his misery actually ends there.
* GrowingTheBeard: The second season was less formulaic and mean-spirited in its humour. That's not even mentioning the brighter colour palette.
* MagicFranchiseWord: PP's is arseburger.
* NewerThanTheyThink: Believe it or not, this was England's first adult animated sitcom. They had produced plenty of animation before this, but it was largely either for kids or short form. Since this particular production company was a novice in TV production, they let Creator/KlaskyCsupo in America handle the animation side of it (with Anivision providing the overseas animation as usual).
* NightmareFuel:
** Eric's stress vein strangling him.
** The donkey falling apart in "Pony" as if it was made of LEGO. That's to say nothing of later when it literally '''explodes'''.
** The ending of "Au Pair" where the Feebles and a reformed Maria are confronted by one of the failed auditionees for the latter's job with a ''tank'', with all four of them screaming in terror. [[AmbiguousEnding And we don't see what happens to them afterwards]]. not to mention it was the last episode produced ("Drool" aired after this one, but was produced beforehand). It just shows to know that even without his vein strangling him, Eric always meets some fate.
* PeripheryDemographic: This cartoon has been watched by children, [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids even though it wasn't really made for them]].
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: This show (the first series, that is) was brought to you by Klasky-Csupo, the same studio behind ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'', but this show occasionally uses British profanity (i.e., "arse"), there's an episode that's all about sex, and Eric [[NightmareFuel always getting strangled by his stress vein at the end of each episode]]. While the first series aired at 10 PM in the UK, the second was screened at 6.45 PM.
* TheWoobie
%%** '''''Eric'''''. The sheer amount of crap he puts up with is truly a sight to behold.
** Claire, considering '''everything''' can make her ill, in addition to which she probably feels that she's been abandoned by her mum and she's too scared to talk to her dad about it because she's worried that it will probably lead to him getting strangled by that vein in his forehead. Again.
