1	* AluminumChristmasTrees: Since there hasn’t been one for about decades, many younger viewers are likely unaware that Player-Coaches used to be quite common, especially for a low-level minor league team like the Chiefs.
2	* GeniusBonus: Eddie Shore is cited as an example of "good, clean old time hockey" when he was actually very violent and nasty. In fact, his name is often mentioned when people want to prove how violent old time hockey really was.

4	** While it has become more obscure as time goes on in the US, it's an iconic film in Quebec. This is because the two Quebec-born actors in the film translated the film themselves, and they chose to do a contextual translation rather than a normal one. They also used Quebecois French rather than "standard" French for the translation. As a result, it's one of the very few films that bilingual Quebecers prefer to watch dubbed rather than subtitled. The movie is STILL to this day widely quoted among Quebecers and other French speakers in Canada, and there's even three season ticket holders for the Montreal Canadiens who show up to every game dressed as the Hanson Brothers.
5	** The movie is ''incredibly'' popular among real-life hockey players, who grew up watching it and worshiping it.
6	* HarsherInHindsight: One Chiefs player laments that, with team shuttering due to the local mill's closure, he'll be reduced to the indignity of getting a job at a Chrysler plant. Little does he realize that this is all just the start of a national decline in manufacturing jobs that will turn the once-prosperous Midwest into the destitute "Rust Belt." That hockey player may soon find himself ''desperate'' for auto plant jobs that are no longer to be found.
7	* HilariousInHindsight: Dunlop has the team believing that they will be moving to St. Petersburg, Florida, after the season. In 1992, the St. Petersburg area actually got an NHL team, the Tampa Bay Lightning. Which has since won UsefulNotes/TheStanleyCup in 2004, 2020 and 2021.
8	* OneSceneWonder: Suzanne and her story about discovering she’s Bi or Pan Sexual. The fact that Creator/MelindaDillon does almost the entire scene topless makes for some nice {{Fanservice}} as well!
9	** Hanrihan and his BerserkButton accounts for one of the movie’s most memorable scenes.
10	* {{Sequelitis}}: The film had two later unsuccessful sequels.
11	* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: The fashions, hairstyles, and music are so seventies it's painful. Plus the background story is the the closing of a steel mill and the crushing blow to the local economy. A very serious issue throughout the rust belt in the seventies. To boot there's a very memorable scene about women's sexual liberation!
12	* ValuesDissonance: A surprisingly large percentage of the humor consists of homophobic remarks and slurs, which serve as a constant reminder of when the film was made.
