* AngstWhatAngst: Quesada's editorial claim that "Everything happened except the marriage" part only to show in OMIT that MJ got stood up at the altar with Peter's family and friends and only for them to follow on and go back to a long relationship doesn't make any sense to anyone who read the Annual. Aunt May eased Peter's jitters by insisting that he man up and claim the Parker gumption, Flash Thompson gave him a major pep talk to marry her, and more importantly Mary Jane would have been thoroughly humiliated by that experience (as would anyone). It's unbelievable that Peter wouldn't face fallout for that action, from Aunt May (who has wanted all her life for Peter to settle down and especially with MJ), and likewise for Mary Jane to go back and settle in a live-in relationship is hard to accept as well.
* BrokenBase: There are many debates over the quality of the work within, though mostly they tend to come down to whether the story is better or ''worse'' than ''One More Day'', i.e. if it's second-worst or the worst. For what it's worth, the latter story tends to come out on top as the worse of the two, but a large part of that may be because this story was supposed to be the "saving throw" rather than what caused the need for one.
* FridgeLogic: If the story changed almost nothing and Peter still exposed his identity to the world... what? Wasn't there even a ''Brand New Day'' story where not even ComicBook/NormanOsborn or Venom even knew who he was, despite knowing his identity even ''before'' he told the world?
* HilariousInHindsight: [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/one_moment_in_time.png The famous image of MJ]] [[SkywardScream skyward screaming]] seems to be made to mimic (or to mock) the reaction the fans would have.
* NeverLiveItDown: Perhaps intentionally, since MJ's page quote is basically ''begging'' for this to happen [[SelfDemonstratingArticle (and giving how much it got referenced in this page already... it seems the quote fullfilled its purpose)]], but the fandom will only remember this [[FanonDiscontinuity "as a memorable quote by the Quesada-verse Mary-Jane Watson"]].
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: While "The Wedding" (ASM Annual #21) is a classic, it has a reputation for being a little rushed (because it was) and ghost written by EIC Creator/JimShooter over writer David Michelinie's objections (whose original plan was for it to be a little longer to tie-in all the continuity gaps to make it flow better) and for not being as emotionally uplifting as it should be. But after seeing Quesada's vandalisation of the issue with his even more incoherent story and even lamer artwork (which the original art spliced into his story merely highlights), many agree that it's a masterpiece by comparison, thus vindicating said story.
* SalvagedStory: It seems like Quesada attempted to give a "saving throw" to OMD and finally answer all the fans' unanswered questions about the story. Results definitely weren't satisfactory mostly because he wrote a bad story that defiled a bunch of better ones (including the ASM Annual #21 that had the couple getting married, whose rewrite in OMIT came off as incredibly petty and mean spirited).
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Peter Parker's decision to have his identity erased, i.e. to undo the decision to unveil his identity as part of the Pro-Reg side, is incredibly selfish and irresponsible, basically asking for a CosmicRetcon rather than live with the consequences of his actions. As bad as OMD is, there it was Mephisto screwing them over.
