* BrokenBase: This group is rather polarizing among K-pop fans. Their entire concept and song catalogue runs the gamut from being declared an AudienceAlienatingPremise to SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic and possibly shoots off into the z-axis.
** By that same token, there is a LOT of argument on whether JYPE is wasting the undeniable talents of these girls with the "Mixxpop" concept.
** Whether or not "TANK" should've been their debut song as opposed to "O.O". Many fans think that the former has a more cohesive sound compared to the latter and is easier to listen to. The fact that "TANK" was already used for the group's debut trailer, while "O.O" practically came out of nowhere, made fans believe that the group would've been less divisive had they debuted with the former. Others, however, find that the chorus of "TANK" is awfully repetitive and can easily throw people off (this is much more noticeable on the instrumental), and making it their debut song wouldn't have made any difference than debuting with "O.O".
** For a long time, no one could agree on which members are the 3rd-through-7th best singers OR best dancers. There ''is'' broad agreement that Lily and Haewon are 1st and 2nd on singing, respectively. As for dancing, it's a 3-way battle amongst fans between Jinni, Kyujin, and Jiwoo. Even for rapping – which did not appear in NMIXX's own music until ''EXPÉRGO'', but they cover songs with big rap parts during shows – fans disagreed whether Jiwoo or Jinni is better.
*** After Jinni left the group, Jiwoo took over (almost) all rapping. She had already been point-girl on rap while Jinni was around.
*** Also after Jinni left, ''and'' the girl got some chances to perform solo, general consensus became Sullyoon is the third-best singer. She does not play around with her voice as much as Lily or Haewon and she cannot hit highs as consistently, but her strength and stability had become obvious. Non-fans increasingly express amazement about "A Visual who can actually sing."
** Whether or not there is too much focus on Kyujin. This ramped up due to her disproportionate song, center, and screen time on "DICE". Jinni and Haewon fans especially tend to be angry about this.[[note]] Fan-made screentime distribution videos have Kyujin at 32.9/26.7 seconds for lines/solo screentime, while Jinni was at 15.1/14.4 and Haewon was at 9.9/16.2.[[/note]]
*** In a sad irony, "Love Me Like This", the first title song released since Jinni's departure, has an extremely fair line distribution and, while Kyujin still gets a lot of center time, no members are pushed aside.
** The experimental "Mixxpop" concept being dropped in favor of more conventional song structures for ''expérgo'' is either a welcoming change for those put off by the experimental style or a complete removal of what made them stand out in the first place to those that liked the concept.
*** Unsurprisingly, the ''return'' of Mixxpop in "Soñar (Breaker)" split opinion again, with many welcoming the return of the original style and a minority complaining about it.
* CriticProof: Debut single "O.O" took a critical beating on release, yet its respective single album (''Ad Mare'') was a number 1 album in Korea that has since gone double platinum there. The song is also so far one of only two NMIXX songs (the other being follow-up title track "Dice") that made the ''Billboard'' Global 200, albeit in the bottom half.
* FanNickname: SLAYMIXX for the group as a whole due to their ''very'' strong stage performances (where, unless it's dance-focused like Studio Choom, or a microphone is busted, they ''always'' sing live).
** Sullyoon = "Baby rabbit baby deer" (her [translated] words), so… Baby Jackalope?
*** Western fans sometimes call her "Sully" for short. Members call her by her real name, Yoon-ah.
** Jiwoo likes to shorten her name to "Jjyu"
*** Sometimes fans will call her "Baby Jjyu" due to her acting (and looking) like TheBabyOfTheBunch even though she's over a year older than Kyujin.
** Kyujin is often called "Jinkyu" by herself and the other members; fans call her "Golden Maknae".
** "Maknaez" – yes, with a "z" as per official subtitles – for Kyujin and Jiwoo, the two youngest members.
** "Twins" also for Jiwoo and Kyujin. Even during their predebut videos, fans commented that they looked quite a lot alike. Jiwoo gets mildly upset by this, but Kyujin has posted Instagram photos of the two of them that play into it.
* FountainOfMemes: All the girls frequently go viral on social media for their personalities and wacky antics. Haewon in particular seems to be the biggest example of this with her quirks, such as her love of coffee, her wide range of facial expressions, her awkward laugh, and her legendary savagery during livestreams whenever fans ask her out – it didn't take long for fans to start doing so ''because'' of her reactions, hoping to be roasted by her. For instance, someone once commented, "If you breathe, we're dating," so Haewon ''held her breath for nearly a minute'' while still trying to speak. It got to a point where Haewon is affectionately referred to as "Joke Bear" by fans because of her being effortlessly funny.
* FriendlyFandoms: With labelmate Music/StrayKids, mostly due to their similarities (see SpiritualSuccessor below). It helps that SKZ members are shown to be very supportive towards NMIXX, especially Bang Chan – who may be Lily's second-biggest fan and likes to hype up the girls' releases while recounting his times with them when they were trainees on his livestreams, and Changbin who is often seen dancing to their songs.
* GrowingTheBeard: Though their fanbase has been active from the start while the group remains polarizing, the ''[=Fe3O4=]: Break'' EP has gotten a noticeably warmer reception beyond the initial niche fandom compared to the critically panned ''Ad Mare'' single album and the SoOkayItsAverage reception of the ''expérgo'' EP. It brings back the "Mixxpop" concept of the early releases but with production work that lets the members make good use of their voices, while the signature "[[SongStyleShift change-up]]" interludes don't feel as disjointed compared to the early releases. As a result, ''[=Fe3O4=]: Break'' gave NMIXX their first number-one album in Korea since 2022, while its title track, "DASH", became the first song to get them multiple music show wins[[labelnote:*]] they previously scored only one with "Love Me Like This" [[/labelnote]].
* MemeticMutation:
** [[{{Mondegreen}} FREAKY FISHY FISHY I'M SO FREAKY]] [[labelnote:Explanation]] The misheard chorus from "TANK". Even after the release of the official lyrics ''and'' Lily (native Anglophone) reciting them, many are still convinced to this day that the girls were saying "fishy fishy"… or they just prefer "fishy" to "fresh".[[/labelnote]]
** "I don't like X (clarification)." [[labelnote:Explanation]]Lily once said on Bubble that she doesn't like winter, but she wrote "THE SEASON" in parentheses next to it. At another time she said that she doesn't like melon, with her clarifying that she's talking about the fruit. Given how K-pop fans tend to have flame wars over the smallest things an idol does, many found it amusing how Lily made sure ''no one'' gets to twist her words (from the previous examples, one could easily misinterpret her as hating on Winter of {{Music/Aespa}}, or the music streaming service Melon), to the point that people started commenting "I don't like X", with X being something that shares its name with someone or something else in the K-pop industry, and then clarifying what they actually meant in parentheses. Worth noting Bae got into trouble during a variety show appearance for NOT doing this when she said she didn't like Skittles candy but abbreviated it as "SKZ", which is also the official acronym for fellow JYPE group (and big supporters of NMIXX) Music/StrayKids. Everyone ribbed her about it and pretended not to believe her when she explained herself.[[/labelnote]]
** Stressed Haewon [[labelnote:Explanation]][[https://twitter.com/NiziUmemes/status/1582330317515259904 This clip]] of Haewon lamenting how stressed she is in GratuitousEnglish during a livestream.[[/labelnote]]
** [[AccentUponTheWrongSyllable "Annyeongha-SE-yo!"]] [[labelnote:Explanation]]Lily's rather... ''unique'' way of saying 안녕하세요 or "Hello" in Korean. It's notably very sing-song in tone and, as noted above, tends to put stress on 세 ("se"), whereas normally you'd put stress on the first syllable instead. Many people, including fans, her seniors, and even her own fellow members find this quirk adorable and often poke fun at it. Balladeer Lee Mujin, host of a popular fortnightly Youtube show, was temporarily dumbstruck after Lily introduced herself; a few months later when Haewon appeared, he mentioned Lily and Haewon ''immediately'' imitated Lily's greeting.[[/labelnote]]
*** Lily's odd speech happened again [[https://youtu.be/Pg7VY4Q8HsU&t=337 here,]] where she accidentally pronounced "sewing these into our clothes" – 땀 떠주셨어유 ''(ttam tteojusyeosseoyo)'' – as "땀 떠주셨쩌요" ''(ttam tteojusyeotjjeoyo)'', which to a Korean sounds extremely childish. The other members overheard her and quickly started teasing that Lily talks like a baby. Jiwoo even got on-camera, because of course she did, to poke fun at her roommate. Lily's whining retort [[NotHelpingYourCase ended up coming off even MORE juvenile]] to the point she flipped to English ("oh my gosh") to express shock at how babyish it sounded.
** [[SacrificedBasicSkillForAwesomeTraining Lily Has No Media Filter]] [[labelnote:Explanation]]During her livestreams, Lily has a habit when speaking English of saying things that she probably wouldn't get away with if she was speaking Korean. The first time was when she was discussing the book ''Literature/TheThursdayMurderClub'' and all but admitted she would kill someone threatening her family and/or friends, while tempering it with, [[BlatantLies "I didn't just say I'd commit murder on livestream!"]] Then, during their USA Showcase Tour, she broadcast from the District Of Columbia, the USA's capital and, as she put it, the home of "the big guns", meaning the government which she helpfully emphasized with finger-guns and "pew-pew!" …then ''immediately'' regretted it ("Oh God.") due to remembering the USA's infamous history of gun violence and tried to walk it back. [[IResembleThatRemark Her American fans, far from taking offense, thought it was hilarious.]] In her ''very next livestream'', she told a story about how her dog Vanilla ate one of her family's chickens and expressed concern Vanilla might eat ''her''.[[/labelnote]]
* MisBlamed:
** NMIXX was [[https://www.sportskeeda.com/pop-culture/news-nmixx-s-debut-music-video-o-o-accused-plagiarism-atinys accused]] of "plagiarism" by fans of {{Music/ATEEZ}} and {{Music/Aespa}} early on, which was one of the reasons they were hit with such a coordinated barrage of hate upon debut (the other was "O.O" being base-breaking). The girls, being rookie idols, had no say in their concept, video aesthetics, or clothing. Also, no idol group can own every possible permutation of a concept or musical idea.
** Kyujin ended up getting blamed for Jinni's departure by the latter's fans. This is mostly due to the impression that the company puts too much focus on Kyujin (as noted in the BrokenBase section above) while mostly ignoring Jinni. Jinni's fans even went as far as accusing Kyujin of "stealing" Jinni's position as Center[[labelnote:*]] (for instance, the music video for "O.O" ends with Jinni in the center of the group's formation, but in their performances Kyujin is in the center)[[/labelnote]], even though there was no such official position to begin with. As noted on the main page, the ''only'' official position in the group is Haewon's as Leader.
** Haewon's supposed "attitude problems". At one fan-meeting during promotions for ''Midsummer NMIXX's Dream'', Lily, sitting far stage-left, received no gifts from fans and appeared glum, with the other members also seeming to ignore her. When footage of the meetup was posted online, outrage from her fans zeroed in on Haewon and quickly spiralled into accusations of Haewon being a bully behind the scenes and for a time she got some hate on social media. However, context clues strongly suggest Lily was simply having a bad day – they had performed on at least two shows VERY early that morning and backstage footage showed she wasn't at her best then. Also, Haewon's body language on more than one occasion shows she sometimes depends on Lily to help her get over her nerves during live stages. As for how Haewon acts towards fans, well, they literally ask for it (as noted above).
* SacredCow: The members' vocal ability and stage performances. Regardless of your opinion on their music, saying that NMIXX has "no talent" will make even non-fans question your sanity. Accusing them of lip-syncing is a good way to bring forth [=NSWERs'=] wrath.
* SpiritualSuccessor: The group is often seen as the DistaffCounterpart to Music/StrayKids, with both groups having a similarly funky and out-of-the-box music concept. Doesn't hurt that they often do dance challenges together and both have native Australian-English speakers in their lineup. Somewhat HarsherInHindsight as both groups are also known for losing one of their members early in their career.
* TheyCopiedItSoItSucks: Lily was subject to this at first due to her initial styling making her appear set up as an AlternateCompanyEquivalent to Music/BlackPink's Lisa (not help that Lily shares her name with one of Lisa's cats), though this has softened up around the time of ''expérgo'' due to Lily getting distinctively different styling and going viral in her own right.
