* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Fujiko. Depending on which part of the fanbase you ask, she's either:
** A [[FemmeFatale steamy seductress]], who uses her feminine wiles and her body to play Lupin like a fiddle, while retaining her street smarts and ActionGirl status - complete with a BigDamnHeroes moment.
** Or a double-crosser who'd betray her own crew if it benefits her.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZiXVIXiFco Tsuki to Taiyou no Meguri]] (''"Circulation of the Sun and Moon"''), sung by Lara's seiyuu Creator/AyaHisakawa.
* BrokenBase: ''Secret of Twilight Gemini'' is a polarizing type deal for varying reasons:
** The most common criticism is [[DependingOnTheWriter the way it portrays Fujiko]]. Newer fans who are used to her being a ClassyCatBurglar, who is witty and Lupin's equal, didn't take kindly to ''Twilight Gemini's'' portrayal of her as [[MsFanservice promiscuous]] and [[SexyDiscretionShot sleeping]] [[SexWithTheEx with Lupin]] to persuade him to let her in for a cut of the treasure he's after.
*** The irony of their complaints is that Fujiko's characterization here is actually closer to the way she was originally portrayed in the manga. Even more ironic when ''[[Anime/LupinIIITheWomanCalledFujikoMine The Woman Called Fujiko Mine]]'' seems to go for more of a middle ground between the two portrayals, though minus the sex with Lupin.
** Others simply didn't appreciate the sheer amount of nudity and {{fanservice}} present in the film, even though Funimation released a censored version that [[DeletedScene removes these elements altogether]].
** And [[TakeAThirdOption for some]] it's a case of SoOkayItsAverage when compared to the other films in the series; most notably, ''Anime/TheCastleOfCagliostro''.
** This was the first of Creator/{{Funimation}}'s efforts with the franchise, and it caused this. Many fans argued the voices didn't fit the characters, while many others didn't like that they mispronounced the character names, or both, not helped by said mispronounciations persisting in the remaining specials. Some thought the voices fit the characters fine, the later Funimation dubs [[VocalEvolution got better as the voice actors got more used to their characters]], and the mispronounciations were no big deal. Regardless the mispronounciation problem was finally fixed in their dub of ''The Woman Called Fujiko Mine'' over a decade later.
* GeniusBonus: Dolune is an alias for Arsene Lupin the First. [[KissingCousins Lupin and Lara are cousins.]] It also adds a great deal of meaning as to why Lupin is so interested in helping these locals out.
* SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct: Creator/NachiNozawa puts on a very convincing falsetto voice as Sadachiyo, to the point where some viewers actually thought he was voiced by a woman at first. The fact Nozawa's voice sounded so young, despite him being 58 at the same, is especially impressive.
* HilariousInHindsight: One of the major complaints about this special was that it portrays Fujiko as being promiscuous. Years later, ''Anime/LupinIIITheWomanCalledFujikoMine'' would proceed to go even further by having her even sleep with ''Zenigata'' in one episode.
