* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The Cow.
** To an extent, the old man in the public toilets - he walks out of one of the cubicles while Vinz and Hubert are arguing, starts talking about his friend Grunwalski, and then leaves. May be justified, given that his story has a moral that connects with the themes of the film.
** The man holding his pants while running is telling himself "So far, so good", but at some point, he'll have to jump for the train [[spoiler: and he'll die from exposure.]]
* HarsherInHindsight: In light of the Paris attacks in 2015 this movie is a lot harder to watch knowing that it came out in 1995 and the racism between the French state and working-class immigrants would only increase.
* HoYay: Though the boys do talk a lot about girls and even (sort of) hit on some in the gallery, their closest relationship is clearly with each other. Saïd in particular it seems is [[Main/{{AmbiguouslyBi}} just as keen on playfully flirting with his friends as he is with anyone else.]] He wakes up Vinz by kissing him on the cheek, follows him around, and tries to make him laugh; the two share a sweet moment when [[IntimateHaircut Vinz cuts Saïd's hair]] before [[Main/{{LikeAnOldMarriedCouple}} devolving into bickering.]]
* OneSceneWonder: Probably a few, but at least two:
** François Levantal as the coked Astérix.
** Vincent Lindon as the drunk guy, trying to find some company after his wife left him, while the main characters are just trying to steal a car, and then helping them escape the cops.
* StrawmanHasAPoint: The behaviour of the main characters and their tendency to escalate anything into a fight can increasingly make one feel that the police's treatment of them has some justification. [[spoiler: Not to the point of shooting them in the head when they're unarmed and resisting, however.]]
* {{Woolseyism}}: The film has a character nicknamed 'ComicBook/{{Asterix}}', famous to the French but likely to be lost on English and American viewers at the time of release. At least one release instead called him [[ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}} Snoopy]] in the subtitles. Another character later snarks that they have Obelix with them; he was localised as Charlie Brown.
