* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: As further proof of the game's nature as a CultClassic, there's the game's gorgeous soundtrack. Since it was one of the launch titles for the GBA, it's mostly {{chiptune}}, but done ''very'' well at that. Unfortunately, it was unavailable on Website/YouTube for a while... [[https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE356D1603AB1E572 until a YouTuber known as Mariobro4 came to the rescue]] and provided the game's entire soundtrack.
** Perhaps the most notable themes are [[Franchise/{{Castlevania}} Magma Castle]], [[VideoGame/MetalGearSolid Cyber Field]] and [[SugarWiki/SweetDreamsFuel Time Trial Results]].
** [[VideoGame/AntarcticAdventure Ice Paradise]] is also very good, being a nice chiptune rendition of ''The Skaters' Waltz'' by Émile Waldteufeul.
** [[VideoGame/TwinBee Sky Bridge]] is wonderfully upbeat and catchy, especially in its Final Lap variation.
** [[VideoGame/PopNMusic Poppin Beach]] is a pleasant and relaxed Latin chiptune rendition of Senorita Rica's ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40_cAtimXSQ El Pais del Sol]]'' that works great with the course's tropical surroundings.
* CultClassic: It is an all-around competent and enjoyable ''VideoGame/MarioKart'' clone with plenty of references to classic Creator/{{Konami}} games, but sadly, not a lot of people care for it. To give you an idea, the cameos from the rare AssistCharacter power-up went unmentioned in virtually the entire western internet for a decade after the game's release.
* GameBreaker: [[VideoGame/{{Rakugakids}} Beartank]], one of the game's unlockable characters, is undoubtedly this, being the fastest character bar none, with their top speed peaking at 140 (a whopping ''200'' if they obtain the Barrier item) with little to no downside outside of them being light in weight. They're also arguably one of the easier characters to unlock, considering the hidden collectable you have to obtain to unlock them is located in a rather obvious spot on the final track.
* JustHereForGodzilla: [[Franchise/{{Castlevania}} Dracula]], [[VideoGame/MetalGearSolid Gray Fox]] and even Vic Viper from ''VideoGame/{{Gradius}}'' appear in playable form.
* NightmareFuel: Remember the ''[[Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog Sonic]]'' [[NightmareFuel/SonicTheHedgehog drowning music]]? Imagine a mode called Chicken Race, where you're on a long straight road, your kart goes forward by itself, and the only action you're allowed to do is a ''single'' chance to break, as close as possible to the nearest pool of water. Good. Now imagine a [[SongsInTheKeyOfPanic fitting kind of BGM...]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mv3xkp3sgfU et voilà.]]
* ThatOneLevel: Cyber Field 2, the final track in the Champion Cup and therefore the game, is possibly the hardest race you'll experience in the game, considering its incredibly difficult hairpins, risky booster pads, and the fact there are no items whatsoever outside of two speed boosters. Considering the game has no drifting mechanic like most Mario Kart clones, it's a pretty challenging ride.
