!The Manga
* ArcFatigue: The Ye arc is the longest and considered by some to be the worst arc in the series. Wang Jian's great strategy on Zhuhai Plains is just letting the 5000 trio do their thing, resulting in neverending back and forth between two armies with no definite victories. In the end Zhao generals, instead of exhausting the already starving Qin from a safe distance, just decide to rush on Xin one by one with predictable results. Then the showdown [[spoiler:between Xin and Pang Nuan whom readers were tired of seeing]] and [[spoiler:Xin's resurrection]] that broke WillingSuspensionOfDisbelief was seen as an AssPull. All while Huan Yi does absolutely nothing besides keeping Ye under siege. Many were glad that the politics returned towards the end of the arc.
* AssPull:
** In chapter 22, Xin manages to escape from a pillory his head was trapped in that the mountain people were using to hold him captive. The justification for the successful escape is that Xin had practiced rope escaping techniques in the past with Piao. However, the only thing that readers ever saw Xin and Piao training at up to this point was sword sparring, and learning how to escape being tied up in ropes is hardly the same thing as your head being locked up in a pillory.
** Near the end of Ye Campaign Qiang Lei, after [[spoiler:Xin and Pang Nuan do a MutualKill, she goes into an actual AfterlifeAntechamber and brings Xin back. And she was ready to stay there, but two previously killed minor soldiers bring her back to life in return, reducing the price to just her lifespan]]. The battle continues like nothing happened, and the commander is even annoyed at the delay. The only lead up to this was Qiang Lei's brief note about qi energy and it's the only use of supernatural in the series besides Mangoku's curse. ''Then'' it's revealed that [[spoiler:Chiyou have double the lifespan of normal humans anyway, and with conveniently timed arrival of Qiang Li, which quickly results in DefeatMeansFriendship, Qiang Lei gets healed]], negating any possible problems.
* BrokenBase: Lacking an official manga translation, the biggest schism in the fandom is whether one prefers the Chinese reading of names (e.g. Xin, Yin Zheng, Wang Yi) or the Japanese readings (Shin, Ei Sei, Ou Ki). The unofficial English scans began with the Chinese readings but switched to the Japanese readings shortly after the first arc when a new translation team took over. The English localization of the anime uses Chinese readings, while the localization of the live action film uses Japanese, further muddying the waters. Usually this boils down to an argument of faithfulness to the source material, versus the aesthetics of the setting.
* CreatorsPet: Zhao and Li Mu are often accused of this. While not surprising for Qin's ArchEnemy and their closest neighbours, Zhao has almost the same number of named generals as other states combined. Li Mu in particular, because he was meant to be the original protagonist, added with the author's habit of inserting Li Mu into various situation where he wasn't historically present, becomes a SpotlightStealingSquad, and his status as TheAce can sound like InformedAttribute since he didn't manage to win battles since Mayang, but always get lucky to avoid getting killed. Meanwhile Pang Nuan was often seen as a walking "get out of jail free card" for Li Mu and often considered to be a boring character by the fanbase with no character beyond being "The Strongest", which the author kept for way too long, though it's somewhat lessened after [[spoiler:Pang Nuan finally bites it and we got a glimpse of his life]].
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Huan Yi and Teng. They are so ridiculously popular to the point that fandom pays more attention to their arcs than the main characters.
** Wang Jian is similarly popular, thanks to a combination of his historical achievements and his MagnificentBastard status in-story. Became even more as of late due to his focus as the supreme commander in the Ye arc.
** Wu Yi Hu is a chronic loser who is used for a lot of comedy, but him being a TokenGoodTeammate to Huan Yi's bandits and scoring a few AchievementsInIgnorance makes him very endearing both by Qin and readers.
* FanNickname: "Climbing the mountain" as an UnusualEuphemism, after Qiang Xiang's somewhat inaccurate version of TheTalk.
* ItsTheSameNowItSucks: Bi being repeatedly hit by TheWorfEffect became tiring to some readers, as for a Qin general he always gets beaten easily to show off the power of the enemy or used as a bait. At the very least, Bi [[spoiler:being the one that got to kill Zhao's mountain king]] calmed down this backlash a ton.
* ItWasHisSled: The first few arcs pulled multiple cases of SamusIsAGirl / HistoricalGenderFlip, but since then the series doesn't bother to hide any identities.
* MemeticBadass: Bi is given this treatment as of late due to his achievements in Ye arc.
* MemeticLoser: Also previously Bi. He's seen as a punching bag who's used to make another ally look good. Things finally changed for him when [[spoiler:he got to score the killing blow on Zhao's mountain king, which readers claimed that this finally redeemed Bi]].
* MemeticMutation:
** Teleporting Armies [[note]]Usually as a surprise panel, the author will suddenly show off an army that wasn't spotted previously now suddenly at close range charging forward. The readers went along with this joking that the only logical answer is OffScreenTeleportation.[[/note]]
** Scouting doesn't exist. [[note]]A continuation of the previous meme where some people just can't seem to understand how army scouts are never able to come across or warn about these armies that appear out of nowhere.[[/note]]
** I represent humanity!
* NightmareFuel:
** The overall WarIsHell in the manga is shown in full detail when sympathetic-or-not soldiers from all sides get literally cut into pieces.
** The treatment Ying Zheng and his mom had to endure at the hands of the [[RevengeByProxy scorned]] Zhao countrymen.
** Anything related to the "Changping curse" for that matter (The previous example ''is'' partially related to this incident) has some pretty intense imagery.
** Qin's generals like Bai Qi (responsible for above mentioned Changping) and Huan Yi, who have no qualms about torturing and mutilating civilians for the sake of NecessarilyEvil.
** History buffs can only wonder if Ying Zheng will retain his HistoricalHeroUpgrade till the end.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Due to well-established CharacterDevelopment, the manga is prone to turn utterly despicable characters into much more likable characters down the line. A prime example is Chengjiao, who grew into a much more respectable member of Qin royalty after seeing Zheng's growth.
* TheScrappy:
** It's very hard to find people that actually like Pang Nuan because of his tendency to [[DiabolusExMachina unexpectedly pop in every now and then]] when the plot requires a HopelessBossFight to stop Qin from achieving full victory. There's [[FlatCharacter so little]] to Pang Nuan apart from being a BloodKnight that he's considered to be one of the weakest and out-of-place characters in the series. As a result, it's a common agreement that Pang Nuan is a glorified PlotDevice to show Xin what he has to overcome, [[spoiler:which he eventually does in the [[BrokenBase already contested Ye arc]] and everyone is glad to finally see him go]].
** Li Mu's NumberTwo, Hai Yin, fell into this status once Qin's invasion of Zhao got going due to her becoming nothing more than a SatelliteLoveInterest that just exists to praise and hype up Li Mu. This makes Hai Yin quite irritating to some people as along with people just growing tired of watching her shout Li Mu's greatness in everyone's faces, she appears to have [[{{Flanderization}} lost the aspects]] of her character that gave her some character depth, such as showing off as one of Zhao's [[TheStrategist strategists]], or being a FriendlyEnemy to Diao.
* SeasonalRot: The Ye arc is considered by many fans to be the worst arc in the series not only due to the fact that [[spoiler:Qin's food supply running out was treated as a major plot point only to be completely forgotten about later with no handwave]] but also the [[spoiler: showdown between Xin and Pang Nuan]] whom they were tired of seeing and [[spoiler:Xin's resurrection]] that broke WillingSuspensionOfDisbelief and was seen as an {{Asspull}}. Many were glad that [[spoiler:the politics returned towards the end of the arc]].
* ShipToShipCombat: Xin/Diao vs Xin/Lei. [[spoiler:The former have been with Xin for longer and had an AccidentalKiss, while the latter joked about bearing Xin's children and admits to having romantic feelings for him]].
* TooCoolToLive: [[spoiler:Generals Wang Yi and Duke Biao got hit with MentorOccupationalHazard]]. Both of which were key figures in Xin's development as a military commander.

!The Video Game
* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: The beautiful graphics are one reason to like the game.
* CatharsisFactor: In ''Two Crowns'', you get to blow up the island's cliff portal with a bomb after researching iron technology, letting you get rid of the Greed for good from the island.
* EvenBetterSequel: This is what many fans have felt about the two sequels to the original ''Kingdom'' game. ''New Lands'' adds seasons and traveling to other islands, and ''Two Crowns'' lets two players play together, as well as iron technology and multiple quality-of-life improvements from feedback about previous games.
* NightmareFuel:
** The [[BadMoonRising blood moon]]. The music gets eerie, and the Greed are swarming from one side, and you can only hope that you'll make it past the night that doesn't end before the entire wave is killed. Fortunately, the next day will be a truce where the Greed temporarily don't attack.
** The crown stealers. When you hear them coming, have hope because not only are they faster than almost all mounts, they're also going straight for your crown, ignoring what's in your purse and any hired peasants.
