Context YMMV / Joey

* FanonDiscontinuity: Many Friends fans would pretend that this show never existed. Even Friends co-creator Kevin S. Bright agrees with them as he blamed NBC reconstructing the Joey character and for the show's failure on more than one occasion. One thing Friends fans, do accept however, is when Joey mentions that all his friends have settled down and got kids and families... Ross and Rachel made it, folks!
* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments:
** While the show wasn't nearly as funny as its predecessor, there was at least one gem - the ultimate fate of the JerkAss actor who no one liked on Deep Powder.
--->"Dude, I get to play a helicopter-blade inspector...and he's a drunk!"
** At least one can be found per episode - Michael saying that even his friend with light allergy got a girl before him, Joey riding a pink motorcyle, dancing cowboys after Richard the III soliloquy...
* HilariousInHindsight:
** The episode where Joey announced the wrong winner for the award he was presenting at the Daytime Emmys, in the wake of the 2017 Oscars (when a mix-up between the Best Actress and Best Picture envelopes resulted in the Film/LaLaLand producers almost taking home the Film/Moonlight2016 producers' Best Picture Oscar).
** There's also a joke where Joey is asked who his favorite actor is, and, hoping to sound intellectual, says it's Sir Creator/AnthonyHopkins, before sheepishly admitting it's The Rock. Nowadays it doesn't come off nearly as lame as The Rock's movie career took off after Joey came and went, with Dwayne Johnson being cited as the highest paid actor in 2016.
* HoYay: Gina, Bobbi and Alex were all implied to have attractions to the same sex on some occasions.
* OneSceneWonder: Alyson Stoner as the critic who admittedly gives Joey a bad review without even seeing his movie. There's also a scene that shows she and Joey are similar.
* RetroactiveRecognition:
** Michael's friend/rival Seth went on to be Howard Wolowitz (for bonus points, his date in his debut is Creator/JaymaMays, in her very first role). Hilariously, Seth went to Caltech, lived in California with an older relative, was going to school to become an engineer, and had contact with Stephen Hawking (as Howard Wolowitz later would).
** Alex's ex-husband is Eobard Thawne.
** Michael's actor, Paulo Costanzo, would go on to star in Series/RoyalPains, though he previously starred in the short lived Series/Animorphs TV adaptation (as the human morph of Ax the Andalite) with Shawn Ashmore, who would also fit under this trope.
** Creator/DanneelAckles recurs in four episodes as one of Joey's girlfriends.
** The guy who keeps sabotaging Joey in the episode Joey and the Nemesis is played by Creator/BobOdenkirk
* SoOkayItsAverage: Arguably the show is basically a pretty run of the mill sitcom, not terrible but nothing special. Which might have been fine if it wasn't the sequel to one of the most popular sitcoms of all time.
