4	** Marissa seems unsure about whether she wants to kill Hanna, or love her. It's possible that since [[spoiler: she headed the program that spared Hanna from the abortion clinic and genetically engineered her]], she views herself as Hanna's creator and rightful "mother", and resents that she doesn't have any children. In some scenes, she's seen listening to recorded tapes of Johanna Zadek (Hanna's mother) talking to her mother about her pregnancy and her relationship with Erik, calling it "self-help". Also, the creepy way she dotes on Sophie's little brother Miles.
5	** As much as he loved Hanna, the way Erik raised her can be seen as incredibly selfish - he basically forced her into becoming a super-assassin, depriving her of real emotional connections and pleasures just to [[spoiler: see if the CIA experimentation was successful and so that she could kill the woman he hated]].
6	* CompleteMonster: [[BigBad Marissa Wiegler]] is the UsefulNotes/{{CIA}} operative in charge of the agency's [[{{Tykebomb}} Galinka Project]], experimenting on dozens of infants to create SuperSoldiers. Terminating the project, Wiegler has the [[WouldHurtAChild babies killed]] and tries to kill Erik Heller when he rescues the infant Hanna from her termination, killing Hanna's mother, Johanna, in the process. Hoping to kill the two many years later, Wiegler hires the sadistic hitman Isaacs to hunt down Hanna, while she tracks Erik herself, killing Hanna's grandmother along the way. Learning of Hanna's whereabouts from a family and heavily implied to have killed them, Wiegler then proceeds to murder Erik and his friend before attempting to kill Hanna.
7	* CreatorsPet: Sophie is easily the least popular character in the film. The fact that the filmakers decided Hanna would like her so much as to trust her with a kiss suggests they were unaware of how annoying people would find her.

9	* HilariousInHindsight: The hapless and defenseless [[Film/TheLovelyBones Susie Salmon]] has been reincarnated into a nearly unstoppable killing machine who eats trained adult soldiers and CIA black ops operatives for breakfast. Mr. Harvey wouldn't last more than a couple of ''seconds'' should he try to even touch her.
10	* IronWoobie: Hanna. [[spoiler: Everyone she'd ever known is either dead or left to an ambiguous fate,]] but is an unstoppable soldier regardless.
11	* LesYay: Between Hanna and Sophie. They share a [[spoiler: kiss that may or may not be interpreted as romantic]]. The camera even uses the MaleGaze when we first see Sophie from Hanna's point of view.
