!![=YMMVs=] for [[{{Theatre/Doubt}} the play]]:
* AluminumChristmasTrees: The tiny portable radio with earbud looks quite technologically advanced for 1964, but that's what transistor radios looked like at the time.
* AlternateCharacterInterpretation:
** The entire purpose of the play. Is Father Flynn a paedophile or a victim of a paranoid campaign from a spiteful older nun against his progressive views? Is Sister Aloysius a stern but caring moral authority trying to look after the boys in her care or a bitter traditionalist and authoritarian trying to get rid of someone whose progressive views run counter to her own and doesn't care if the boys are deprived of someone they are deeply attached to?
** Even if Father Flynn isn't a pedophile, he has something in his past that would ruin his reputation and career if exposed, otherwise he wouldn't have reacted the way he did to Sister Aloysius' bluff. This raises the question of what else that might have been. The most charitable possibility is that Father Flynn is homosexual (who was identified as such and transferred to another parish, a [[TruthInTelevision common practice with gay priests at the time]]) rather than a pedophile, and that the special attention he gave Donald Miller was due to his identifying with the social isolation that a gay boy would experience at Donald's age.
* AwardSnub: The film adaptation did not receive a nomination for the Best Picture Oscar.
* OneSceneWonder: Mrs. Muller. In one scene she almost completely flips the situation (and therefore, the play) on its head. It earned Adriane Lenox a Tony and Viola Davis an Oscar nomination.
* TheWoobie: Donald Miller. He's the first black student at the school during a period where black people were treated like second-class citizens. There's a possibility that he was molested by Father Flynn, but it's left ambiguous. He is gay and his homophobic father physically abuses him. Also, his mother doesn't want Donald to be taken out of the school even with the possibility he was molested because of complicated reasons.

!![=YMMVs=] for [[{{Manga/Doubt}} the manga]]:
* AssPull: The final chapter is full of them, particularly in [[TheDogWasTheMastermind the revelation on who the mastermind is and how everything was achieved]]. [[spoiler: Rei managed to convince everyone that she's dead and has been using hypnotism, her specialty, to manipulate Mitsuki to do killing and will continue to do so.]]
* {{Moe}}: Rei seems to be this way at first, being a shy, adorable girl in a wheelchair… [[spoiler: Then it turns out that she’s the mastermind of the doubt game and an utterly ''insane'' misanthrope.]]
* OnceOriginalNowCommon: A lot of people would avoid this manga or it's spiritual successor (''Manga/{{Judge}}'') because the premise sounds just too similar to ''Franchise/{{Danganronpa}}'', the ''VisualNovel/ZeroEscape'' trilogy, or ''VisualNovel/YourTurnToDie'' without bringing anything new to the table.
