1* BaseBreakingCharacter: This episode fully cemented River Song as being an extremely polarizing character (after she was already shown as one in the mid-season finale). Was she an utterly broken WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds whose desperate attempts to rescue the Doctor from his apparent fate were a heart-wrenching ActOfTrueLove, or a BrainwashedAndCrazy StalkerWithACrush who willingly endangered the ''entire universe'' (thereby going against everything the object of her affections stood for) and not only had what would usually be a MoralEventHorizon [[ProtagonistCenteredMorality within the context of the series be merely brushed over, but essentially had her get away with everything she wanted]], thus turning her into a KarmaHoudini? Interestingly enough, the scrutiny kicked up again after "Hell Bent", where the Doctor's own attempts at doing something similar (that is, subverting a fixed point in time in order to save someone he loved) get him a ''massive'' calling out.
2* NightmareFuel: The Silence clinging to the ceiling in packs- [[Recap/DoctorWhoS32E2DayOfTheMoon again.]]
3** In previous episodes featuring the Silents, we'd often see the interaction with them before the character turned away and forgot about it. This time around, we see mounting evidence between cuts that they have been dealing with them repeatedly during a single scene (the Doctor's rapidly increasing tally marks, Churchill and the Doctor both suddenly having weapons in their hands, etc.) Does that mean the scene was filmed so that the Silents just never appeared until the end of it, or were their appearances filmed [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou and the audience just forgot?]]
4* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: River Song, as seen above. She's clearly meant to come off as a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds. However, her actions directly threaten every single being ''in the universe'' (including her parents, who were right there with her). River doesn't even flinch when this is pointed out to her, and never displays any remorse or apologizes for her actions in this episode.
