12	* TooBleakStoppedCaring: A common criticism of the movie is that the hard hitting issues it attempts to cover don't get properly built up to or developed making the movie come off as emotionally manipulative more than anything.
13	* UncertainAudience: Britney Spears reportedly wanted a film her tween fan base could enjoy, but also a serious drama that dealt with hard-hitting issues. Thus you get a film that deals with TeenPregnancy, date rape, ParentalAbandonment, and losing one's virginity - but has to sanitize said topics to make them palatable for tweens. Thus you get a movie that is too mature for younger viewers, but too [[SweetnessAversion twee]] and {{cliche\|Storm}}d for older people who'd be able to appreciate its messages.
14	* VindicatedByHistory: Since the Free Britney movement a sizable amount of people have come out in support of the film to the point it became popular enough to be re-released in theaters two decades after it had come out.
