The 1975 anime adaptation of the book, which is part of the ''Anime/WorldMasterpieceTheater'' series, is considered a classic there. A second TV anime, ''My Patrasche'', made by a different animation studio and director, followed 17 years later, but is not nearly as well-known or well regarded as the WMT version. However, ''My Patrasche'' was broadcast in France, where the ''WMT'' version ''never'' aired. In the Philippines' case, whenever they talk about Dog of Flanders, the public refer to the ''My Patrasche'' version, even though the ''WMT'' version was also broadcasted there, partially due to ''My Patrasche'' being aired first in 1994 (the ''WMT'' version is aired later in the 2000s). |
