* AlternateCharacterInterpretation:
** Corbulo Academy: A tough but respected school that teaches TheSpartanWay because they need disciplined commanders, or [[http://www.halopedia.org/index.php?title=Forum:Forward_Unto_Dawn_Impressions&t=20121102151823#Corbulo:_A_damning_insight_into_the_UNSC an elitist academy that is nepotistic]] and fails to adequately enforce its authority?
** The story of the real life Roman General Corbulo: A valiant warrior hero whose suicide at the Emperor's command represents ultimate loyalty (as General Black would have everyone believe), or a tragic victim of corrupt politics and Emperor Nero's paranoia? In a way, this parallels the destruction of Corbulo Academy: On the surface, it's meant to show how Lasky was inspired to stay in the UNSC and become the soldier he is today. On the other hand, ONI's decision to hide all knowledge of the Covenant from the public arguably left the planet woefully unprepared for an attack.
** InUniverse: Lasky views himself as a conscientious objector. The others view him as a cadet who is refusing to acknowledge his duty.
** Insurrectionists as well. YourTerroristsAreOurFreedomFighters sums it up.
** The use of propaganda by the academy and students is subtle and effective. They're given rousing speeches laid thick with military history (see General Corbulo above), the ceilings of their bunk beds are engraved in patriotic slogans inches from their faces, and whenever Lasky has a contrarian thought about the Insurrectionists the only response he gets is "Why don't you hate them? You should." The interpretation here is either the movie is campy MildlyMilitary or brilliant in its message.
** The circumstances of General Black's death are left ambiguous. Did he die standing his ground against the Covenant? Or does the fact that his body is found in the driver's seat of his warthog mean that he was [[DirtyCoward trying to flee]] before being killed?
* NarmCharm: In Part 5, Master Chief does an entirely unnecessary ''backflip'' to the ground after shoving a bomb into the [[spoiler:Hunter.]] The rest of the scene is so ridiculously awesome that it sort of doesn't matter how silly the backflip looks.
* SpecialEffectFailure:
** The exploding [[spoiler:Hunter]] clearly just vanishes with some gibs effects being added rather than actually blasting apart.
** The chain gun on the Warthog doesn't rotate when being fired.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: ''Halo 4'' introduces Sarah Palmer, whose [[TheLancer supportive female friend]] role to Lasky can seem [[SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute suspiciously similar]] to Chyler's. Of course, Chyler doesn't appear in ''Halo 4''.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: For a web series, it has really good special effects with weapons and the Covenant. Microsoft really put a lot of money into ''VideoGame/{{Halo 4}}'', and the marketing budget had to go big too. Understandably, ''Forward Unto Dawn'' got a lot of good backing driving those effects.
