* FairForItsDay: Most of the toyline was praised for being so detailed and realistic for the time, that the Smithsonian Institution actually teamed up with Tyco (who had stocks of unsold toys; all they needed to do was make some minor modifications to remove the accessories and in some cases, remove tabslots and/or motors and battery areas) and sold them in their official Smithsonian gift shops for almost a decade after the ''Dino Riders'' franchise had died. Most notably, the ''Struthiomimus'' figure was the first mass-market dinosaur toy of any kind to have feathers.
* HilariousInHindsight: The color scheme of the rare Rulon ''Quetzalcoatlus'' (black blots on yellow ground) resembles the fur pattern of a leopard - or a giraffe. We now know that pterosaurs of this kind were [[http://markwitton-com.blogspot.de/2013/08/9-things-you-may-not-know-about-giant.html quite giraffe-ish]] when walking on the ground.
* InferredHolocaust: Krulos deemed the Valorians as "useless to him", since they are immune to the effect of the [[MindControl Brain Boxes]] and can't be used as slaves. Only Questar and his crew escaped Valoria, meaning that the rest of the planet's population were being exterminated by Rulon's armada... unless, as one episode implies, with Krulos missing, a civil war erupted within Rulon and that put a hold on the genocide.
* MemeticMutation: Images of the show are usually added to things like a FauxtivationalPoster with captions like "Holy shit, this is awesome!"
* {{Narm}}: The Rulons' base/ship was called the "Dreadlock". Cool name, but does that mean there are other ships in the armada with names like the "Cornrow" or the "Afro"?
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter:
** In regards to the ArtisticLicensePaleontology in the two-part episode involving ''Brontosaurus'', which was described as "the largest dinosaur in the world" and was giant-sized to boot, why couldn't they have used ''Brachiosaurus'' instead?
** The cartoon briefly featured the club-tailed glyptodont ''Doedicurus'', which would have been perfect as a Dino-Rider mount, but it only serves as an animal in distress which the Dino-Riders save.
