* AccidentalAesop:
** The moral of ''Part of Your Nightmare'' is meant to be about how popularity isn't worth true friendship and it's better to be yourself than changing yourself to fit in, but the climax having [[spoiler:Ursula turn Shelly into a fish over a technicality]] creates another lesson--always get contracts in writing, and check them thoroughly for loopholes.
** ''Fiends on the Other Side'' seems to be [[spoiler:AlwaysSaveTheGirl will ''not'' work in real life. Jamal offers up the necklace his grandmother gave him to save Malik from a bad deal he made. This ends up being the wrong choice for both of them, as Facilier lied, turns Jamal into a shadow, and has nothing in the way of his conquest]].
* CompleteMonster:
** ''[[WesternAnimation/OneHundredAndOneDalmatians Be Careful What You Wish Fur]]'': [[spoiler:[[CruellaToAnimals Cruella de Vil]], long after her demise, has lingered on into the present day in two ways: her prestigious, real-fur fashion industry; and her literal [[GhastlyGhost undead spirit]]. When teenager [[KidHero Delia]] finds Cruella's famous Dalmatian coat in the trash and takes it, Cruella begins insidiously haunting her, culminating her torment by spiriting away Delia's puppies and [[HostageForMacGuffin promising to butcher them if her coat isn't returned]]. The final fate Cruella inflicts on Delia is one Cruella has inflicted on countless victims before: transformed into a lifeless but [[AndIMustScream eternally conscious]] mannequin, doomed to display Cruella's furs forever.]]
** ''[[WesternAnimation/{{Hercules}} Liar, Liar, Head on Fire]]'': [[spoiler:[[EverybodyHatesHades Hades]], god of the Underworld, [[DealWithTheDevil bargains]] with teen athlete Hector for athletic ability to win the Zeus Cup in the upcoming Mt. Olympus Spartan Race. In truth, Hades is a devious sociopath who was imprisoned for good reason and wastes no time trying to ruin Hector's life, [[YourSoulIsMine enslaving the souls]] of those he bargains with and consigning others to the nightmarish River Styx. Despite Hector's best efforts, Hades had already bargained with his supposed LoveInterest Mae and has Hector [[RapidAging aged up]] and killed, consigned to Styx while he releases the Titans to destroy the world.]]
* FridgeHorror:
** How did John and Michael feel when [[spoiler:Barrie disappeared for about forty years give or take, regaining their memories of him during that time and realizing that they may have sent a good friend to his death]]? Michael for his part [[spoiler:is coping by treating it as a fairy tale]].
** It's hinted at that Cruella's coat isn't ''faux'' fur like Delia thinks, as it's as soft as real Dalmatian puppies. Assuming Cruella went around kidnapping puppies on a semi-regular basis like in the movie, just how many dogs were killed over the years?
* {{Narm}}:
** Most of what Ursula does to torment Shelly is genuinely scary, but attacking her with plastic cups, straws, and trash hammers home the GreenAesop too far in to be taken seriously.
** Kendall and her friends speak in hashtags frequently, such as "Hashtag BFF!" or "Hashtag loser," which gives a TotallyRadical vibe and makes a lot of their dialogue laughable.
* TooBleakStoppedCaring: The series is infamous for being bleak and horrific, with every single book in the series having some kind of CruelTwistEnding or DownerEnding happening to innocent and misguided victims who don't deserve it, and only one of which doesn't have [[TheBadGuyWins the bad guy winning]].
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: Despite being based on Disney movies, the series is incredibly dark with the protagonists often meeting horrifying ends.
