Context YMMV / Jabberwocky

Go To

!! Poem
* SugarWiki/{{Heartwarming Moment|s}}: TheHero's father welcoming him back after he ignored all warnings to 'beware the Jabberwock' and slew it instead.
* IAmNotShazam: The name of the monster is 'the Jabberwock', not 'the Jabberwocky' -- like how the hero of ''Literature/TheOdyssey'' is Odysseus. However, it's called the Jabberwocky in numerous adaptations, likely causing the confusion.
* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: TheHero killing the Jabberwock.
* QuirkyWork: The poem is intentionally surreal and full of neologisms, which is why it became one of the most famous nonsense poems. It's also fitting, as Alice reads it in her dream.

!! Film
* RetroactiveRecognition:
** Creator/DavidProwse is the [[Characters/StarWarsDarthVaderAndServants Black Knight]]; one of the fanatics is Admiral Piett:
--->'''[[LargeHam Fanatic]]''':I want to burn! I want to feel my bones burst into a billion pieces! I want to trace across the firmament...
--->a glowing ball of flame...a testament to our godliness and piety!
--->'''Other Fanatic''': What does that mean?
--->'''First Fanatic''':I don't know, but I want it!
** Mrs. Fishfinger is played by Creator/BrendaCowling, who would later be best known for playing Mrs. Lipton in ''Series/YouRangMLord''.
** Sister Jessica is played by Creator/GordenKaye, who would later be best known for playing René Artois in ''Series/AlloAllo''.
** A fanatic is played by Creator/JanineDuvitski, who would later be best known for playing Jane Edwards in ''Series/WaitingForGod'' and Pippa Trench in ''Series/OneFootInTheGrave''.
* SpiritualSuccessor: While Creator/TerryGilliam isn't a fan of having Creator/MontyPython's name associated with the film in many places (since it didn't involve all of the team), the heavy use of MedievalMorons and TheDungAges inevitably brings ''[[Film/MontyPythonAndTheHolyGrail The Holy Grail]]'' to mind.
