1	The main showrunner, Creator/GregWeisman, had [[WhatCouldHaveBeen rough plans]] for a total of sixty-five episodes for ''WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderMan'', which was thirty-nine more than what we got.

3	* The Scorpion, the Hobgoblin, Hydro-Man and [[Characters/MarvelComicsCarnage Carnage]] were slated to appear in the third season of the series. Roderick Kingsley, Morris Bench and Cletus Kasady all had brief [[EarlyBirdCameo cameos]] in the second season, with Kingsley voiced by Courtney B. Vance and Bench by Creator/BillFagerbakke. Mac Gargan is also mentioned as a private investigator who works for Jameson, and fans have had fun picking out extras in the background who might have been him; this is encouraged by Weisman himself, who indicated that minor characters like Tombstone's driver were intended as secret cameos.
4	* Weisman also expressed interest in using [[Characters/MarvelComicsTheKingpin The Kingpin]], as a BigBad on the show, but was unable to because while the character originated as a Spider-Man villain, Marvel [[RoguesGalleryTransplant now has Fisk officially classified as the arch-enemy of]] ComicBook/{{Daredevil}}, whom Sony did not have the rights to. As a result, the character Tombstone was used as a SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute.
5	* There were also rumors about ''ComicBook/MaximumCarnage'' being adapted as well as ''ComicBook/TheCloneSaga'' with [[spoiler: Miles Warren gained full control over Curt Connors' lab at the end of Season 2.]] Building off the plans for Carnage to appear, Weisman stated that wanted to attempt a Venom spin-off series had the show reached a third season.
6	** In addition to the Venom spin-off, Weisman talked about the possibility of expanding his version of the Marvel Universe with other shows following other teams. One idea was to introduce Hobie Brown as the Prowler and have him team up with Silver Sable (and possibly Venom) as an anti-hero team. He also talked about integrating other Marvel characters and spinning them off into their own shows. This included the Human Torch (leading to a ComicBook/FantasticFour spin-off), Captain America and the Hulk (leading to an [[ComicBook/TheAvengers Avengers]] spin-off), and Beast and Cyclops (leading to an ComicBook/XMen spin-off). Part of the trade-off with not being able to use the Kingpin was that Weisman considered making a ComicBook/{{Daredevil}} spin-off.
7	* Weisman's aspirations also included finishing the series with Peter's graduation from high school, then doing four straight-to-DVD movies, covering Peter's college years.
8	* Emily Osborn was to have been given a larger role, and was to be voiced by Creator/MarinaSirtis.
9	* Creator/ChristopherYost was [[https://twitter.com/yost/status/209086069159886848 up for the executive producer job on the series, but they went with Weisman instead]].
10	* Weisman planned to make Mary Jane Peter's main love interest eventually but he wanted to imitate their romance in the comics and their parallel character development, whereby both of them would mature with {{Romantic False Lead}}s (Mark Allen for MJ, Liz and Gwen for Peter) before starting their relationship for real.
11	* Weisman said that he had no plans whatsoever to kill Gwen Stacy during the course of his show and admitted to being disturbed by comments from fans and co-workers about when "he's going to kill her" when he noted that the nature of a children's superhero show precluded that kind of content. He admitted that were the show successful enough to create some home video movies (a la ''WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyondReturnOfTheJoker''), he would have tried going for PG-13 content [[https://twitter.com/mktoon/status/1083439476334940160 and swung the scythe on her, perhaps to motivate Peter and MJ's closer bonding]]. He did imply, however, that George Stacy may not have been as safe, [[spoiler:and Spectacular Spidey's return in ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManAcrossTheSpiderVerse'' reveals that his death eventually did happen in this continuity.]]
12	* There's a small deleted scene from "Group Therapy" that explains how Shocker escaped from police custody and was free by "Probable Cause". However, it was cut for time and was meant to be included in the extended cut DVD release. Those plans were scrapped as well, so now it's shown by Weisman at conventions.
