| !!"Chuck Norris! He's got tropes of steel and strength to match..." |
| |
| * {{Acrofatic}}: Tabe is a BigEater, and it shows, but he's a BoisterousBruiser who's as tough as any of the other Kommandos. |
| * AdaptationDyeJob: The comic books based on the show depicted Chuck as a blonde. |
| * TheApprentice: Reed Smith, who is described as Chuck's teenage apprentice in the intro. |
| * AndKnowingIsHalfTheBattle: Chuck Norris shows up in live-action segments before and after each episode to teach kids life advice such as learning self-control and that it is okay to make mistakes. It ''is'' an 80's cartoon, after all. |
| * ArtificialLimbs: The Claw's metal pincer. |
| * AscendedMeme: The "This is an emergency... '''I'M CHUCK NORRIS.'''" was actually an edited out-of-context bit from a Website/YouTube "Best Of" video. Years later, Creator/WarnerBros would use that exact same edit in their trailer for the DVD... |
| * AsHimself: Yes, Chuck voiced himself in the cartoon. He's also featured in the live-action segments. |
| * BaldOfEvil: The Claw is bald, and he's the series' BigBad. |
| * BilingualBonus: Appropriately enough, "Tabe" means "to eat" in Japanese. |
| * BrainyBrunette: Pepper is a GadgeteerGenius with brown hair. |
| * CaptainErsatz: Too Much is very similar to Short Round from ''Film/IndianaJonesAndTheTempleOfDoom''. |
| * CatchPhrase: Too Much's catch phrase is ''his own nickname''. |
| * ComicBookAdaptation: Drawn by Creator/SteveDitko. |
| %%* ConservationOfNinjitsu |
| * CoolBike: The Kommandos' Samurai Cycle and the evil Ninjas' Ninja Banzai Cycle. |
| ** Also, "That's my bike!" "This is an emergency... '''I'M CHUCK NORRIS.'''" |
| * CoolCar: The Kommandos' Karate Corvette. |
| * CoolPlane: The Kommandos' helicopter, the--wait for it--[[{{Pun}} Karate Chopper]]. |
| * TheDragon: Super Ninja, the Claw's second-in-command. He leads the Claw's army of evil ninjas, although he espends most of his time obsessed with defeating Norris. |
| * EpisodeTitleCard: As with most Ruby-Spears productions. |
| %%* EverybodyLaughsEnding |
| * EverythingsDeaderWithZombies: "Island of the Walking Dead" has the characters visiting an island ruled by a voodoo doctor and his zombies. Naturally, only Chuck can fight them. |
| %%* {{Expy}}: Super Ninja for Cobra Commander. |
| * TheHeavy: Super Ninja. While The Claw is the main villain, he's more of a schemer. Thus Super Ninja is present to give both give a more physically dangerous enemy for Chuck to fight and to act as a more fitting ArchEnemy of sorts. |
| * HeroicDolphin: Dolphins help to catch Devilfish, Claw's PsychoForHire in "Deadly Dolphin". |
| * HeroStoleMyBike: ''"Sorry kids, this is an emergency. I'm Chuck Norris!"'' |
| * MasterOfDisguise: The assassin who hunts Chuck in "Target: Chuck Norris" is ''supposed'' to be one of these--but see PaperThinDisguise below. |
| * McNinja: Super Ninja and the ninja army led by Claw. |
| * MerchandiseDriven: The series was accompanied by an action figure line from Creator/{{Kenner}}. |
| * MightyWhitey: The series is all about Japanese martial arts, but the white Chuck Norris is TheHero and leader of the Karate Kommandos. |
| %%* MookLieutenant |
| * NameDrop: The infamous OpeningNarration makes damn sure you know who the star is. |
| -->'''Narrator:''' Chuck Norris is, Chuck Norris in, ''[[RuleOfThree Chuck Norris]]: Karate Kommandos''. |
| * NeverSmileAtACrocodile: The villain in "Menace from Space" employs alligators alongside his mooks. |
| * OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Too Much, whose real name is never revealed. |
| * OverlyLongGag: In one episode, Too Much gets kidnapped by one of the Claw's henchmen, resulting in a chase scene that goes on for three and a half minutes. They start on a boat, get on jetskis, switch to a car chase (the origin of the "This is an emergency! I'm Chuck Norris" line), and then Chuck jumps off of his stolen motorcycle to board a plane the henchman had hijacked. You'd think it'd be over after this, but ohhhh no. The henchman steals a truck with an attached parachute and drives out of the plane, prompting Chuck to jump after them. Finally, the henchman puts on a personal parachute, grabs the kid, and cuts the truck's parachute, prompting Norris to just grab the henchman, untie Too Much with one hand, and then interrogate the guy. {{Lampshaded}} towards the end with the henchman and Chuck saying "I don't believe this guy!" and "HereWeGoAgain", respectively. Watch it [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZHBHqe6qhs here.]] |
| * PaperThinDisguise: A MasterOfDisguise assassin/MookLieutenant Imposter hired by the Claw in "Target - Chuck Norris" sports several of these and Chuck sees through them every time after their first meeting. [[EpicFail He doesn't even attempt to conceal his face or distinct accent]]! |
| %%* PornStache: Chuck. |
| * PsychoForHire: The Claw employs several of them to eliminate Norris. [[FailureIsTheOnlyOption It never goes well]]. |
| * RatedMForManly: Everything with Chuck Norris in it, is manly. |
| * TheSmurfettePrinciple: Pepper is the only regular female character, and even she doesn't get much to do. |
| %%* {{Sssssnaketalk}} |
| * WalkingShirtlessScene: Tabe probably doesn't even own a shirt. Chuck spends a lot of time shirtless as well. |
| * WaveMotionGun: The Claw's forces hijack a space shuttle so they can use one to threaten Earth in "Menace from Space". |
| * WhiteHairBlackHeart: Devilfish, the special guest villainess of "Deadly Dolphin". |
| * XtremeKoolLetterz: No, kids, "Kommandos" doesn't actually start with a K. |
