->Ash: I wanna be the best. Like no one ever was.
->Brock: Ash, there are no more masters. Everything we've worked for is gone.

Pokémon Apokélypse is a FanFilm parodying the Franchise/Pokemon franchise and a response to the trend of DarkerAndEdgier reboots of lighthearted works.

Celadon City hasn't been the same since the Gyms closed down. Pokémon fighting has gone underground, and the sport has gotten a taste for blood. Ash, Misty, and Brock have been forced deep into the city's seedy underbelly to keep training, but the Pokémon aren't the only ones in danger. Now, Ash must choose to either become a master in the grim world of illegal Pokémon fighting, or make a desperate stand to free them all from the criminal grip of Rocket Industries.

!!This video contains examples of:
* ActionBomb: A Voltorb is used to blow up a car.
%%* ActionGirl: Misty.
* AdaptationalBadass: Everyone, especially Team Rocket. Even Misty's Psyduck looks gritty and hardcore by comparison to its animated counterpart.
* Affectionate Parody: A lot of the cast and crew are fans of the franchise.
* AnimalWrongsGroup: A crowd of anti-Pokémon-battle activists are seen waving signs on TV with messages like "No Pokémon should have to be a Fighting-type!"
%%* BaldOfEvil: Giovanni.
* BeastlyBloodsports: In Team Rocket-ruled Kanto, underground Pokémon battles have become much more brutal, with Ash's Pikachu nearly dying in a battle with an Ivysaur. One shot includes a poster in the foreground that says, "Care, Not Cruelty: 75% of homeless Pokémon come from Trainer fights."
%%* BigBad: Giovanni appears to be this. Mewtwo may also be in this role.
%%* BriefcaseFullOfMoney: Giovanni uses this to tempt Ash into taking a fall.
%%* CoDragons: Jessie, James and Meowth, to Giovanni.
* ColdBloodedTorture: Brock is tied up, beaten, and tortured with a Magnemite.
%%* DarkActionGirl: Jessie.
%%* DarkerAndEdgier: Parodied; this is the point of the film.
* DeconstructionFic: Parodied for the most part, but the is one somewhat straighter example--Team Rocket's status as an organized crime syndicate is made much more serious and realistic here, and to terrifying effect.
* DesignatedGirlFight: We get a brief shot of Misty and Jessie getting into a catfight.
%%* ElectricTorture: This is inflicted on Brock with a Magnemite.
* EveryManHasHisPrice: Team Rocket has basically overrun Kanto society with this trope. But even in this messed up universe, Ash still has standards.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: Team Rocket doesn't understand why Ash, who still cares about the well-being of his Pokémon even in a world like this, is pissed when his Pikachu is seriously injured in a fight he was paid to throw.
-->Team Rocket grunt: What? You got your money.
-->Ash: Yeah, but you almost killed him!
-->Team Rocket grunt: What are you so upset about? It's just a Pikachu.
* HospitalHottie: The Nurse Joy who makes a brief cameo.
* TheMafia: Team Rocket is portrayed as a mix of this and MegaCorp.
* MentorOccupationalHazard: After Ash walks out on fighting, Team Rocket kills Professor Oak.
* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: Giovanni threatens Ash's loved ones, which is what gets him to throw the fight.
* PsychicAssistedSuicide: Mewtwo forces an Officer Jenny to put her gun to her own head.
* PsychoElectro: The Rocket torturer tortures Brock with a Magnemite's electricity.
* RaceLift: Parodied, according to WordOfGod. None of the characters look JapaneseDespite being a FantasyCounterpartCulture, Kanto was heavily influenced by regions in Japan. One that's less likely to be intentional is the brief appearance of a black Nurse Joy.
* RealTrailerFakeMovie
* ScrewTheMoneyIHaveRules: Ash stops fighting to protect his Pikachu. Team Rocket is not pleased.
* SkywardScream: Ash does this when Professor Oak is killed.
* ThrowingTheFight: Giovanni makes Ash do this.
* TookALevelInBadass: Team Rocket certainly are portrayed as a more legitimate threat, running the underground battle rings with little care for what happens to the Pokémon injured in the fights. They also resort to murder via machine guns, torture using Magnemite, use a Voltorb to assassinate another character, and even Mewtwo appears to be under Giovanni's control.
* YouDontLookLikeYou: Giovanni is light-skinned and bald, as opposed to his original counterpart from the games, who is dark-skinned and has short-cropped, dark hair.
