31	Many people have proposed that Oscar is in fact [[WesternAnimation/ThePrincessAndTheFrog Dr. Facilier]], but I have a different spin on the idea. Oscar is ''not aware'' of the fact that he is Facilier. Facilier is trapped inside of Oscar and manifests as a sort of voice inside his head, telling him to make bad decisions and sell his terrible snacks. The same things goes for Sugar Mama, although ''she knows'' she's Mama Odie. And Oscar's ButtMonkey status is punishment from his friends on the other side.
32	* Alternate Theory: Facilier's "friends on the other side" didn't punish him by sucking him into Hell for all eternity as previously assumed. Instead they reincarnated him as Oscar Proud, [[FateWorseThanDeath which is arguably worse]].
33	** Alternate Alternate Theory (and one that I know has been mentioned before, but hey): Facilier is a blood relative of Oscar's. Facilier's "friends" decided to curse his descendants on top of dragging him into the underworld.
34	*** Building on that, earlier drafts of ''PATF'' had Dr. Facilier being Mama Odie's son. Suga Mama and Oscar are both either related and/or reincarnations. The Friends on the Other Side are probably the ones responsible for all the crap Oscar has to go through, and to an extent his minor reality warping powers; they gave them to him as part of their punishment for Facilier's sins.

36	** During "Friends on the Other Side", Facilier calls Lawrence "little man" and reminds him he's been pushed around his whole life by his mother, his siblings and (if he were married) his wife. And now, wouldn't you know it, he's been reincarnated into a guy who is constantly pushed around by his mother, his brother and his wife, and is sometimes called "little man" by larger, more intimidating people.
37	** In an episode of the reboot, "Snackland", Oscar is briefly sent deep into the Earth (much like Facilier) and is surrounded by several shadowy figures not unlike Facilier's friends on the other side. One episode later, he apparently has a pit that leads to this place and threatens to send Mr. Chips down there. Make of that what you will.
38	*** Having rewatched the movie, its strong WantsVersusNeeds element adds another layer to this. Both Facilier and Oscar are driven by greed and success through shady schemes. Perhaps the former was reincarnated into the latter for redemption purposes; to learn to value what he ''needs'' and already has instead of focusing on what he wants. Going by Tiana's speech to him about her father, it seems what Oscar needs is to let go of his gripes and goals and be more loving, a quality he completely lacked as the shadow man.
