Go To

1[[WMG: Nick Mallory is deliberately screwing with Trina]]
2Seriously, he is nice to pretty much everyone but her, and seemingly takes a chance to insult and degrade her whenever he feels it's appropriate ("Nick Mallory doesn't dig abominations", Nick Mallory knows someone who could use a mint... you!"), so it's probable he is simply leading her on to cause her misery. Which, depending on who you ask, it's either karma, or him being a bigger asshole than her.
3* Jossed. He does seem to care for her in some episodes.
4* The production blog bio for Nick Mallory says he's aware of Trina's crush on him, and he finds her to be a fascinating individual due to her overemotional attitude.
5
6[[WMG: In the final episode...]]
7Trina will discover the band has been using her diary, some epic battle against her will occur and she and Corey will reconcile as siblings. The band puts on a huge concert, Corey manages to write lyrics all on his own, and Laney confesses her love to Corey and they become an official couple.
8* When she finds out, Trina will go into her Ultimate Diary Mode, a mashup of her Anger, Fear and Sadness sequences. Then she'll suddenly stop, the music will go silent, and with a face that betrays no emotion at all, she will hold her diary over a nearby fire. She will land on the floor on her feet, and everyone will stare in silence as the diary smolders on the floor. Mayor Mellow will extinguish it and awkwardly back away.
9* Corey's Diary Mode sequence will be in live-action, because he'll finally be acting like a normal human being.
10** {{Jossed}}. The final episode has Grojband save the world from being destroyed by the aliens from "Space Jammin'". Still a great way to end the series though.
11
12[[WMG: Trina wants to destroy Grojband because...]]
13She had her own band which broke up and left her with no friends other than Mina. She knows how much Corey's friends mean to him and is afraid he will make the same mistakes she did.
14
15[[WMG: Trina will sing once]]
16She'll go beyond diary and end up singing her feelings.
17
18[[WMG: Trina will get a heart attack some day.]]
19Corey will push her too far, resulting in her ending up in the hospital. That will lead to Corey hiring an actual lyricist for his sister's health.
20* Or he'll actually sing with his heart.
21
22[[WMG: Corey and Trina are the spawns of Satan.]]
23If Trina can warp reality when she gets emotional, who knows if Corey has the same ability!
24* It also explains why we never see their parents on-screen.
25** {{Jossed}}. WordOfGod confirms they are in fact children of the Gods of Rocklympus. However, that does still make them the spawn of a supernatural being, so Trina's RealityWarper powers being the result of such origins still wouldn't be out of the question.
26
27[[WMG: There will be a Romeo and Juliet like situation...]]
28Either Kin and Kim or Kon and Konnie will fall for each other and their respective bands will be against it.
29
30[[WMG: Corey and Trina are related to [[WesternAnimation/TotalDrama Courtney]].]]
31Courtney and Trina both have the obsession to be the best.
32
33[[WMG: The reason Corey treats Laney like OneOfTheGuys...]]
34Is because he's subconsciously denying his own feelings for her because [[IDontWantToRuinOurFriendship he's worried that things would get awkward between them]].
35
36[[WMG: "All You Need is Cake" was intended as a partial ShoutOut]]
37Call me crazy, but this is the second time this troper has seen [[WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor the desire for a giant cake]] [[GrandFinale get in the way of the relationship between an]] OnlySaneWoman who's clearly crazy for a boy that's ObliviousToLove on Creator/CartoonNetwork.
38...MAN, I miss them.
39
40[[WMG: [[http://neptoonstudios.tumblr.com/post/58599183195/what-happened-to-the-riffin-siblings-mom-is-she-dead This]] interesting piece of information gives us an idea for Corey and Trina's pasts.]]
41Corey and Trina originally came from different families. Corey's biological parents loved him very much, but Trina was constantly abused by her biological parents. She ended up in an orphanage because of that abuse. Corey, however, witnessed his parents die when he was very young, traumatizing him. Without any other relatives, he was sent to that same orphanage. Eventually, they were adopted by an unmarried man. But the two still remember their parents. They were both the children of musicians. Corey was drawn to music because of his loving parents, but Trina grew to hate rock music because they reminded her of her abusive parents.
42
43[[WMG: Laney is [[WesternAnimation/TheIncredibles Violet Parr]]'s cousin.]]
44Remember when it appeared she was literally on fire? That wasn't a cartoon gag. It was her power as a Super.
45
46[[WMG: The Riffins and Beffs are half-siblings]]
47This could explain why Corey and Carrie look so alike.
48
49[[WMG: The talking plant from "One Plant Band" is actually [[LittleShopOfHorrors Audrey II]] 2.0.]]
50He became GenreSavvy and decided that [[FridgeHorror making humans inhale toxic plant chemicals before eating them was easier]].
51* Except that he wasn't expecting three kids with cutting knifes to [[KilledOffForReal kill him off for real]].
52
53[[WMG: Corey is from Rocklympus]]
54He secretly has the power of the gods of Rocklympus which explains some of his abilities (like in the ping pong game)
55* WordOfGod says his and Trina's real parents are gods of Rocklympus, so this is basically confirmed.
56
57[[WMG: One of Laney's ancestors was a Franchise/DisneyPrincess.]]
58She's beautiful, gentle towards all animals, and has a pleasant singing voice.
59* Plus she happened to win a royalty-themed beauty pageant.
60
61[[WMG: Grojband is set in the same universe as ComicBook/ScottPilgrim.]]
62Let's see... The series was made in Canada, the art style has some similarities. Other similarities: ThePowerOfRock. People having weird superpowers, or things resembling superpowers (with Trina altering the environment around her when she goes diary). The overall craziness of the whole show. Sounds showing up in written form on-screen. Heck, [[BreakingTheFourthWall being self-aware was also something from Scott Pilgrim]]. The reason the video game elements from Scott Pilgrim haven't shown up yet is that Grojband is too young for them to manifest, while Trina is probably somewhere near the age when it really starts. Eh, this is WMG, so why not. Plus, Trina has the profile to be a future evil ex.
63
64[[WMG: Trina secretly has Multiple Personality Disorder, but Katrina was the original personality.]]
65Corey said no one has called his sister "Katrina" in years, while Katrina herself said Trina locked her up. Maybe Katrina (and the other personalities) originally locked up Trina because she was too dangerous. But one day, something happened that made Trina strong enough to overpower the other personalities and take Katrina's place as the dominant personality.
66* One of the other personalities could be Trigonometrina, whom Katrina used for complex math equations. But with Trigonometrina locked up like the other personalities, Trina pretended to be her during the events of "Math of Kon".
67* Partially {{jossed}}. WordOfGod states Katrina became Trina as a result of being possessed by a female counterpart to the Blue Star of Rocklympus from "Six Strings of Evil".
68
69[[WMG: Laney is secretly a fairy tale princess.]]
70
71[[WMG: Corey and Laney are [[Series/DoctorWho Rory and Amy]].]]
72After the events of [[Recap/DoctorWhoS33E5TheAngelsTakeManhattan "The Angels Take Manhattan"]], in which Rory and Amy died after getting sent to the past, they were reincarnated into 21st century kids.
73* If you pay close attention, you can see bits of Rory and Amy in Corey and Laney's personalities. This will also explain why they are very close. They're subconsciously recognizing each other, hence Laney's attraction towards Corey. And all the Whovians and Rory×Amy shippers rejoice...
74
75[[WMG: Nick is related to [[WesternAnimation/Frozen2013 Elsa]].]]
76How else could he encase Trina in a block of ice?
77* Pure awesomeness
78
79[[WMG: Trina is the recruitment target of at least four Lantern Corps and they're all deadlocked.]]
80At least the Red (rage), Sinestro/Yellow (fear), Indigo (compassion and thus sadness) and Violet/Star Sapphires (love) Corps/Tribe all want to recruit her, but the rings always just end up fighting each other, like how Mr. Burns' Three Stooges Syndrome on The Simpsons keeps his myriad diseases and conditions from affecting him. Actually...
81
82[[WMG:If the series continues, one of Trina's Diary Modes will be fueled by greed/desire.]]
83The power-up music will have swing rhythm and jazz bass.
84
85[[WMG:Another Diary Mode will be fueled by sheer boredom.]]
86The power-up music will be elevator music.
87* She'd lack the motivation to write anything substantial, leaving her stuck in Boredom Mode, and the elevator music would tick off Corey so much that HE'D enter Diary Mode and, for the first time in his life, ''actually write his own lyrics''!
88
89[[WMG:Trina's biological father is Beetlejuice.]]
90It makes sense--she has a nasty attitude, she possesses the power to warp reality when she blows her cork, and she's voiced by Creator/AlysonCourt (Lydia Deetz). Trina is the secret love child of the ghost with the most and that nice but socially-awkward teenage girl from Peaceful Pines. Some poor schlub unwittingly adopted this demon daughter, whose hormonal and borderline murderous antics terrorizes another quiet whitebread suburb.
91
92[[WMG:Trina and Corey's actual father is [[Music/{{Gorillaz}} 2-D]].]]
932-D fathered tons of children around the world during Phase 2. Of course some would be put in orphanages. I think that as part of Murdoc's [[Main/{{DealWithTheDevil}} Deal with the Devil]], he needed to offer some children to become demon spawn and spread chaos, and he suckered 2-D into doing it for him, thus explaining how Trina is able to affect her environment so drastically when she goes diary. Because she's a demon or at least part demon. And Corey just loves music, which runs in the family.
94
95[[WMG:Corey believes Trina is responsible for everything bad in his life.]]
96His response? Make sure her own life is a living nightmare!
97
98[[WMG: Corey has his own version of Trina's Diary Mode.]]
99The only reason we haven't seen it yet is because he's less prone to emotional freak-outs than his sister. It's also the only way he can write lyrics by himself.
100
101[[WMG: Trina is a [[Manga/ElfenLied Diclonius]]]]
102Pink hair? Check. Bad temper and violent tendencies? Check. She must hide her horns with her headband (and her ponytails as a kid).
103
104[[WMG: Kin and Kon are OnlyKnownByTheirNickname]]
105Their names are probably meant to be shorthand for some longer Japanese name (like Kintaro and Konosuke). They probably prefer being called by shorthand form because it emphasizes their status as twins (their official bio from the production blog states they love reminding others of it).
106
107[[WMG: Trina will mellow out as she gets older]]
108She's basically meant to be an exaggerated, over-the-top version of the classic angsty, overdramatic BrattyTeenageDaughter, and a few episodes have shown she UsedToBeASweetKid, so it wouldn't be surprising if she became more well-adjusted and less psychotic when she hits adulthood. If anything, it's possible Mina's epic tirade against her in the GrandFinale will likely be the wake-up call she needs to start maturing.
109
110[[WMG: Corey doesn't specifically need Trina's diary to write lyrics, just intense experiences]]
111Laney's habit of pointing out how Corey's Final Thoughts (which he ONLY comes up with at the END of an episode) could make for great lyrics suggest that Corey is only capable of coming up with lyrics through exposure to a particularly strong experience of some sort (such as a crazy musical adventure with his three best friends or pieces of writing fuelled by the overdramatic emotions of a teenage girl). Given how in the GrandFinale, he realized he should be writing his Final Thoughts down as they'd make great lyrics, it's possible that Corey could solve his lyrics problem by keeping a diary of his own to record his own experiences and his thoughts on them.
112
113[[WMG: Lenny of The Newmans goes by his middle name in the show]]
114Even though he's referred in the show proper as Larry, the creators state his name is Lenny. To solve this conundrum, we can look to the fact that there are [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_name#Middle_name_as_primary_name many people in real life who go by their middle names.]] Thus, it's completely possible that his ''real'' first name is Lenny (probably short for Leonard), but he prefers to go by his middle name of Larry (short for Lawrence?).
115
116[[WMG: Corey and Laney are ChildhoodFriends]]
117The two seem much closer to each other than either are to Kin and Kon, referring to each other by {{Affectionate Nickname}}s only they ever use. WordOfGod also confirms that Laney’s house is next to Corey’s. Thus it seems highly plausible that, like Trina and Mina, Corey and Laney are longtime friends (possibly starting when Corey moved into the neighborhood after he and Trina were adopted), with Kin and Kon entering the picture only relatively recently (perhaps only a few years before they formed Grojband).
118
119Furthermore, Kin and Kon might have been each other’s OnlyFriend before meeting Corey and Laney. The two have a very strong sibling bond and WordOfGod states they are seen as freaks by the other kids at their school. Not hard to imagine them befriending Corey and Laney shortly after meeting them as a result (perhaps after moving to Peaceville from elsewhere; maybe Japan, given their background).
120* Corey and Laney being friend since childhood has been confirmed by the creators. Kin and Kon's placement in the whole matter however is still up in the air.
121
122[[WMG: Kin and Kon get their Rock Lore from a BigBookOfEverything]]
123The reason Kin and Kon know so much about Rock Lore is because they have a book about stories from Rock Lore. It was compiled by one of their ancestors who travelled the world collecting Rock Lore stories and the like (Kon mentions in the final episode that he and Kin know of the Samban Doomsday story because they have a doomsday calendar passed down their family for generations and "it hath been ''written'' in Rock Lore"). However, there are a lot of gaps in the book's information due to being written in code/having pages missing/something like that ("Facts are hazy in Rock Lore", Kon says once). For this reason, Kin and Kon fill in the blanks in Rock Lore by making up their own stuff (hence a few elements of Rock Lore seen in the show like minor inconsistencies or moments where the two say they made up stuff).
124
125[[WMG: Trina's Diary is a supernatural artifact related to the evil guitar from "Six Strings of Evil".]]
126Credit to [[https://artist-emerald.tumblr.com/post/149101874483/the-pink-and-blue-stars-theory Artist-Emerald]] for this theory, which was just too good not to share.
