''Amazing Island'' is a video game developed by Hitmaker/Ancient and published by Creator/{{Sega}} for the Platform/NintendoGameCube. In it you play as a boy or a girl and are whisked off to Amazing Island after reading a book. Upon your arrival, the place is covered in a fog and under the rule of the Black Evil.

You're supposed to save the island and its residents or the world of Amazing Island will fade into nothingness. Using the power of imagination, you create a monster to participate in obstacle courses to recover the lost orbs and become strong enough to defeat the Black Evil.

The game comprises two features, a rather open-ended monster creator/editor and the obstacle courses, mini-games which are required to progress in the story. Beating the minigames with certain point thresholds unlocks additional monster-raising accessories, as well as monster frames, giving you more options when creating monsters.

!!Tropes for the game include:
* AndYourRewardIsClothes: Accessories, palettes, etc. are rewarded from playing minigames well enough.
* ArtInitiatesLife: The player draws and creates their own monsters, then adds accessories to make them more powerful.
* BattleTops: Spin Break and its upgrades revolve around your monster trying to knock opponents out of the arena by spinning.
* BigBad: The Black Evil is the ultimate force of evil in the story, and is draining the island of creativity.
* CopyProtection: Waterskip Slider is apparently unwinnable on emulators, due to forcefully capping the player around half of the maximum speed on the ramp. However, playing on an actual console has just about any monster be able to hit full speed with little difficulty and successfully complete the mini-game. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRQ47FSizjI Case in point.]] You can get around it by setting the game's speed to half speed during the ramp part, as the bar will full up as normal.
* CuteMonsterGirl: The shopkeepers appear to be normal human women wearing Maboo hats, though it's unclear whether they're meant to be female Maboo or if there are inexplicably humans living on the island.
* DoWellButNotPerfect: To get accessories, palettes, and voices, your score must be between 1000-1799.
* FragileSpeedster: The Dog, Horse, Cat, and Hamster frames are all built for speed, though typically at the expense of mind and weight.
* GuideDangIt:
** The only stat ever given an outright explanation is Stamina where certain games outright have a stamina gauge. And while Speed, Power, and Weight can easily be worked out, Mind's usefulness is much harder to understand. It mostly affects the Angle Meter in relevant minigames.
** There's also absolutely no explanation on what any of the hundreds of customization items do.
* HumansAreSpecial: Only they can create monsters.
* ImaginationBasedSuperpower: Humans' imagination is the key to creating monsters and saving the island.
* JackOfAllStats: Dinosaur, Dragon-Man, Hero, and Bunny frames are overall average, though some have outliers and the bunny is overall [[JokeCharacter pretty bad]].
* LightningBruiser: The Worm frames are heavy and have both good Power and Speed stats, but are abysmal elsewhere.
* [[CharacterPortrait Monster Portraits]]: Just as customizable as everything else.
* MightyGlacier: The Macho, Giant, Evil Beast, and Evil Spirit are all powerful and heavy, but also slow. Though the Evil frames sacrifice some power for Mind.
* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily: The Black Evil minions have these.
* PlayerPersonalityQuiz: If you don't feel like creating monsters from scratch, you can take a quiz to have one made for you, with additional frames being added to the possible results the more you unlock them.
* SceneryPorn: Well, there's a reason they gave you a first-person view.
* ShoutOut: The "Connected Eyes" item is Sonic's signature eye design.
* SquishyWizard: The Tiny and Kid frames. Really high mind, poor at everything else.
* TennisBoss: You fight the Black Evil by bouncing an energy sphere back and forth.
