* BannedInChina: The Brits threw him out for animal cruelty.
* NeverWorkWithChildrenOrAnimals: It's hard to take Jake seriously when Damien's tail keeps plugging up his nostrils or slapping his face.
** [=WCW=] booked a match between Wrestling/Sting and Jake where the finish was for Jake to sic a (real, but devenomed) cobra on Sting, only to have it turn on him. But Jake couldn't get the snake to bite him, so he ended up holding it to his face while it flailed stupidly.
*** He infamously had the opposite problem during his feud with Wrestling/RandySavage- he was able to get the cobra to sink its fangs into Savage's arm, but then couldn't get the damn thing to let go! He was forced to try and detach it himself while making it look like he was egging it on to hurt Savage more; the snake died afterwards.
** The 1/6/14 RAW was another instance of this. The snake he brought out to torment a KO'd Dean Ambrose wasn't too keen on tormenting him. Plus, Dean Corpsing corpsed when the snake was rubbing against his face.
* ThrowItIn: Roberts stated that the DDT was invented accidentally when, in a match with Len Denton, he had Denton in a front facelock and literally tripped over the man's feet, falling backwards and driving him into the mat (legit knocking Denton out). It looked completely brutal (and, if not done correctly by either man, can lead to serious head or neck injuries), so instead of saying "Dammit, Jake, don't trip in the ring!" it was decided he would do it every time he would win a match.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Jake was originally planned to feud with Wrestling/HulkHogan for the WWE Championship in the 80's. A real pity as Jake is a forerunner in any discussion about the greatest wrestlers ever to not hold any gold in the WWE, but as Jake himself put it:
---> "I DDT Hogan on the stage, the crowd starts chanting Jake The Snake, and Vince immediately pulled the plug."
** While competing in Mid-South in 1985, he and Nord the Barbarian appeared to be on the fast track to the Mid-South Tag Team Titles...until Wendell Cooley and Al Perez won them instead.
** A few hardcore Wrestling/UltimateWarrior fans, in discussing Wrestling/TheUndertaker's face turn in early 1992 (to feud with Roberts), speculated on how a feud between Warrior and Roberts The storyline basis was that Roberts offered to help Warrior in his feud with the Undertaker, only for Roberts to play Warrior for a fool to gain a psychological edge over him. during the fall of 1991 would have played out. After suggesting that Roberts would have been decisively beaten at every turn and his credibility destroyed, Warrior would have turned his attention back to Undertaker and destroyed him once and for all at WrestleMania VIII. None of this happened, of course, since Warrior was fired after the 1991 Wrestling/SummerSlam (due to his approach toward Wrestling/VinceMcMahon over a pay dispute), but these hardcore fans wanted to see [=McMahon=] (whom they felt was in the wrong) make due with Warrior and put the issue behind them to allow a feud they felt fans were promised to take place ... even if the much more compelling Roberts-Wrestling/RandySavage feud, Undertaker's face turn or "The Streak" would surely have been sacrificed.
* WrittenInInfirmity: In a 2014 interview in WWE Magazine, Jake mentioned that he talks like that due to having taken a knee to the throat, and cannot raise his voice any louder.

!!Misc. Trivia
* Roberts has the dubious honor of having been induced into Website/WrestleCrap not once or twice, but several times:
** Earthquake "squashing" Damien and serving him up as IAteWhat "Quakeburgers".
** His "training" the Ultimate Warrior that effectively confirmed his heel turn.
** The "Spin the Wheel Make the Deal" mini-movie setting up his Coal Miner's Glove Match with Wrestling/Sting at WCW Halloween Havoc 92, and the match itself.
** Heroes of Wrestling, of course, where he had a "match" with Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart that got hastily turned into a tag team match with Neidhart[=/=]Wrestling/KingKongBundy vs. Jake[=/=]Wrestling/Yokozuna that effectively served as the show's main event.The monsters got tagged in and Bundy splashed Jake, who wasn't the legal man, and the ref quickly counted to three to end the whole mess. Yoko never even got into the ring (due to the fact that he had grown so fat that he couldn't get a wrestling license since he couldn't get the needed medical clearance), and the show went off the air some 22 minutes ahead of schedule without even a farewell from the announcers. There's also his infamous pre-match promo which starts off with Jake drunkenly rambling about how he cheats, which descends into him chanting "DDT! DDT! DDT! DDT!" And by all accounts that was the high point of the show.
