Context Trivia / EekTheCat

Go To

* ActingForTwo:
** Creator/ElizabethDaily in "Quadrapedia" voiced Pam and Polly, the villains of the episode.
** Puffy and Wuz Wuz (Creator/CamClarke)
** Eek and Pierre ([[CreatorCameo Bill Kopp]])
* CreatorBreakdown: The idea for the show came from co-creator Savage Steve Holland's failed experience as a cat owner. All three of his cats died for tragic reasons, with one of them jumping out a 15-story window, another getting carried away by a hawk, and the last one ([[HarsherInHindsight actually named Eek]]) drinking antifreeze and passing out in the driveway.
* CrossDressingVoices:
** In one episode, Eek takes the audience backstage and reveals that he and Annabelle are both voiced by people of the opposite gender to their character.
** In another episode, ''Valley of the Dogs'', Sharky has an internal monologue (done in song) that makes no effort to hide that a woman is providing the voice.
* DescendedCreator: Bill Kopp himself is the voice of Eek, Pierre and Kutter.
** Also, Savage Steve Holland voiced characters in each segment: Elmo, Doc Tari and Wade Heap.
* FollowTheLeader: To ''WesternAnimation/GarfieldAndFriends'', [[Administrivia/TropesAreTools which it was pretty good at following]].
* HeAlsoDid: Before working on ''Eek! The Cat'', Bill Kopp and Savage Steve Holland were the animators for the Whammy segments on ''Series/PressYourLuck''.
* InternationalCoproduction: Between Savage Studios in the USA and Creator/{{Nelvana}} in Canada (Creator/FilmRoman of the US produced the ''Klutter'' segments).
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Your best bet for the show is [=YouTube=] or, if you taped the show when it first came on in the 1990s or during the reruns on [[Creator/ABCFamily Fox Family]], VHS tapes (there was only ever one legit VHS tape of the show released). It's pretty much stuck in the Disney vaults, since they got the show after acquiring Saban/Fox Kids back in 2001 and, while some foreign networks (mainly Jetix before those networks were rebranded) have run the show in recent years, it's not likely to be seen here anytime soon.
** Most of the first three seasons were released on DVD in the Czech Republic. These DVD's also have English audio.
* ProductionPosse: Pretty much ''everyone'' (at least animation-wise) from ''WesternAnimation/TheCritic'' worked on the ''Klutter'' segments.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** According to Website/TheOtherWiki, Cozy was voiced by Jaid Barrymore (Creator/DrewBarrymore's mother) instead of Elizabeth Daily in his debut episode, ''Bearz In The Hood''.
** Zig-Zagged with Annabelle. In seasons 1, 2, and 4, she was voiced by Tawny Kitaen. In seasons 3 and 5, she was voiced by Karen Haber.
* TheShelfOfMovieLanguishment: Due to errors in production, the ''Thunderlizards'' segments, intended to debut with the second season of ''Eek'' in September 1993, was pushed back to November.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: The original plan was for the ''Thunderlizards'' segments to be in place at the start of the second season, then become their own show. Due to the aforementioned production delays, this didn't happen, and instead the show became ''Eek! and the Terrible Thunderlizards'' midway through season 2, though sometimes ''Thunderlizards'' segments were aired by Fox Kids on their own back to back (with their solo intro). As a result, the segments were kept for the rest of the run, resulting in the change to ''Eek!Stravaganza'' in season 3.
