* CreatorBreakdown: All of Matthew's Wii's data was lost when the system died in late 2009. He was so upset he made a comic that [[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/images/End.jpg depicts the end of the world]].
* CreatorsFavorite: King Dedede, due to his snarkier personality and array of facial expressions, [[AllThereInTheManual mentioned in Volume 1 of the printed comics]].
* {{Defictionalization}}: The [[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/2009/08/21/182-present/ Dededoll plush]] was available for purchase on the store.
* DummiedOut: Before the move to Keenspot, http://www.brawlinthefamily.com/media/ revealed some hidden files.
* MeaningfulReleaseDate: The final strip was released on October 3, 2014, the same day ''[[VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosForNintendo3DSAndWiiU Super Smash Bros. for 3DS]]'' was released outside Japan. Also counts as a MilestoneCelebration, as the final strip was the 600th one.
* MilestoneCelebration:
** Every 100th comic has been bigger than previous works (although [[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/2008/11/05/100-theveryhungrykirby/ #100]] doesn't look quite as ambitious in hindsight). [[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/comic/200-odetominions/ #200]], [[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/2010/12/25/300-a-simple-request/ #300,]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR5DaYuDWYs #400]], [[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/2013/07/16/500-prodigal-robot/ #500]], and [[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/2014/10/03/600-one-final-song/ #600]] were [[MusicalEpisode Musical Episodes]]. #400 in particular was a huge celebration of the entire Nintendo history, #500 a celebration of Mega Man history and inclusion in ''Super Smash Brothers'', and #600 concludes the strip with a look back on its history, defining moments, and previous songs.
** The 50th Comics also get smaller celebrations. There's [[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/comic/gooeykablooie/ #50]] [[ComicStrip/CalvinAndHobbes "Gooey Kablooie"]], [[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/2009/03/28/150-comicstrip/ #150]] "Comic Strip", [[ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}} a]] [[ComicStrip/ForBetterOrForWorse tribute]] [[ComicStrip/TheFarSide to]] [[ComicStrip/{{Garfield}} various]] [[ComicStrip/FoxTrot comic]] strips, [[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/2010/06/04/250-cartoons/ #250]] "Cartoons", [[WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons another]] [[WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill tribute]] [[WesternAnimation/SouthPark to]] [[WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}} various]] [[Anime/KirbyRightBackAtYa cartoons]], and [[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/comic/350-ifittakesalifetime-11/ #350]] "If it Takes A Lifetime".
* PromotedFanboy: Matthew Taranto's got it big: his little Nintendo-centered webcomic landed him a position at ''Magazine/NintendoForce Magazine'', the spiritual successor to ''Magazine/NintendoPower'', where he continues to make comics for to this day. Heck, {{Creator/Nintendo}} even issued him a dev kit so he could port [[VideoGame/TadpoleTreble his game]] to the UsefulNotes/WiiU and later on, the UsefulNotes/NintendoSwitch! He's even collaborated with [[Magazine/NintendoPower HOWARD PHILLIPS]], the original gamemaster, on a couple occasions, for heck's sake!
* RefittedForSequel: A couple of unused Wario comics, originally intended for an AprilFoolsDay based on Wario instead of Waluigi, were incorporated in the ''Too Bad. Waluigi Time'' book.
* ScheduleSlip: Due to health problems, the 400th comic was delayed for two months, before being released on April 12th, 2012.
* SimilarlyNamedWorks: Shares the name with episodes of ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'', ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'' and ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}''.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** In "[[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/comic/171-turnaboutkirby1/ Turnabout Kirby]]", The Masked Man as Godot and Ness as Cody Hackins were also considered for members of the Jury Box.
** "[[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/comic/smallbreak/ Where's Waluigi]]" was almost the 200th strip.
** "[[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/comic/250-cartoons/ Cartoons]]" was originally going to end with the panel where Adeleine pitches a show based on ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'', while King Dedede tells her a show just based on him, Meta Knight, and Kirby could work. Then Matthew's brother reminded him that [[Anime/KirbyRightBackAtYa such a show already exists]], resulting in two more panels to make a new punchline referencing that show.
** In "[[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/comic/358-cloudwatching/ Cloud Watching]]", Luigi was considered to be the one who got a Spiny to the face.
** The initial ending for "[[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/comic/594-jigglypuffkirby/ Jigglypuff & Kirby]]" was much more [[BlackComedy cynical]] in tone: After deleting Attract, there would be a cut to Kirby telling Jigglypuff that he wants to break up with her.
