* ActingForTwo: In the Latin American Spanish dub, Mildred Barrera voices both Kaname Kugatachi (Freya) and Ma Renka, and Adriana Casas voices Honoka Shirahama and Chihiro Takashima.
* {{Cancellation}}: Shun Matsuena [[https://natalie.mu/comic/pp/tokiwakitareri confirmed in an interview]] that the manga's abrupt ending was due to Shonen Sunday's editor at the time, Takenori Ichihara's decision to axe some of the then currently serialized manga to make way for new talent and ''Kenichi'' was one of the series that got axed by Ichihara. Matsuena even admitted he was unhappy with this decision.
* CharacterOutlivesActor: Creator/TomokoKawakami, Miu's original voice actress, was hospitalized with ovarian cancer in 2008 and succumbed to its complications three years later. Creator/RieKugimiya took over as Miu for the OVA releases.
* CreatorCameo: On page 17 of chapter 16, the AuthorAvatar can be found next to Shigure in the roof tiles.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: The physical release was hard to find for a while, as Funimation's license expired in 2018. However, Creator/DiscotekMedia rescued the series and released it on Blu-ray in 2021. And it is currently streaming on Amazon Prime courtesy of TMS themselves. Likewise Discotek also announced they've rescued the OVA series which never got a stateside release with a brand new English dub.
* LateExportForYou: The OVA series wasn't released by Funimation before their license expired, but Discotek is currently set to release them (with a dub featuring most of Funi's cast to boot) in the future.
* NoExportForYou: The manga has never been officially licensed in North America and the [=PS2=] game from Creator/{{Capcom}} was never released ''anywhere'' outside of Japan.
* TheOtherDarrin: Due to the unfortunate passing of Creator/TomokoKawakami in June 2011, Creator/RieKugimiya voiced Miu in the OVA.
** Likewise, Hayato's original actor, Hiroshi Arikawa, died in October of the same year, so Yuzuru Fujimoto replaced him [[note]] though Fujimoto himself would later die in 2019 [[/note]].
** Kyōko Ono was voiced by Kaoru Shimamura in the series but Shimamura died in 2013 of breast cancer. Touko Aoyama replaced her for Ono's appearance in OVA 5.
** Two of the Valkyries, [[AllThereInTheManual Chisato Ayazaki and Yoko Igarashi,]] were voiced by Creator/MichikoNeya and Manabi Mizuno respectively in the series but were replaced with Tomo Muranaka and Yayoi Sugaya for their brief appearance in the eighth OVA, likely as a cost-saving measure.
** For the English version, young Kenichi was voiced by his main actor, Creator/JessieJamesGrelle, in a flashback showcasing him defending Honoka from bullies. For the later flashbacks detailing his past with Miu and Ryūto, Creator/LeahClark voiced young Kenichi.
** Tanimoto had a change in the dub going from Creator/JasonLiebrecht to Creator/EricVale after the former's motorcycle accident left him out of the voiceover game for a year.
** As expected, the ''many'' controversies surrounding Creator/VicMignogna meant that he wasn't brought back as Kensei for Discotek/Sound Cadence's dub of the [=OVAs=], with the role now being played by Daniel J. Edwards.
* RealLifeRelative: In the Mexican Spanish dub, two of José Luis Orozco's children appear in minor roles. Alejandro Orozco was the voice of Koga and Luis Fernando Orozco provided additional voices.
* SavedByTheNetwork: After Funimation's license expired, Amazon picked it up for legal streaming.
* StarMakingRole: For Creator/JessieJamesGrelle, who voiced Kenichi in the English dub.
* StudioHop: The 2012 OVA series was animated by Creator/BrainsBase rather than TMS and mostly has a different staff, though Hideyuki Motohashi who was an animation supervisor on the TV series returned as the character designer and Masahiro Shoji of Creator/FizzSoundCreation returned to do sound effects.
