* ApprovalOfGod:
** [[Creator/TheRussoBrothers Joe Russo]], the co-director of ''Film/CaptainAmericaTheWinterSoldier'' claims that the movie was FridgeLogic-tested by [[http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/honest-trailers-cited-as-reason-that-captain-america-the-winter-soldier-was-so-good/ making sure that there would be little reason for an Honest Trailer to be made of the movie]]. Didn't stop Honest Trailers, in the end, though they do spend a good amount of time in the trailer praising the movie.
** The god of the nerds himself, Creator/JossWhedon, [[https://twitter.com/screenjunkies/status/510202120633470977 is a fan]].
** Creator/BrettDalton [[https://twitter.com/IMBrettDalton/status/692216748079222784 tweeted]] "Dry White Toast? I've always considered myself a cheese bagel. Oh well." in reference to being credited as "Dry White Toast" in the Honest Trailer for ''Series/AgentsOfSHIELD''.
** After the Honest Trailer for ''Series/{{The Flash|2014}}'' pointed out Barry Allen's "bobblehead," Creator/GrantGustin tweeted [[https://twitter.com/grantgust/status/783434262259335169 "Whoops."]][[note]]The link is no longer functional as Gustin deleted his Twitter account. The hyperlink is only maintained for archival purposes. [[/note]]
** Creator/ScottCawthon, the creator of the ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'' games, actually enjoys the Honest Trailers of his games (even though the Trailers of the sequels are largely negative).
** Creator/JordanVogtRoberts, director of ''Film/KongSkullIsland'' went a step further and actually ''helped write'' the episode lampooning his movie, being very honest and forthcoming about it's flaws (although he frantically objects to the notion that "there are too many helicopters").
** ''Film/MortalEngines'' cast member Menik Gooneratne [[https://twitter.com/menikgooneratne/status/1116126148209938432 was delighted to twice be highlighted as part of the film's 'extremely attactive people']], and WebVideo/ScreenJunkies' response led her to add '“Really really ridiculously good looking” - Screen Junkies' to her bio.
* ColbertBump: The Honest Trailers often use an obscure soundtrack called [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPPzcXCCPeU Great Ambitions]] by Chappell Music, which they nickname the "Stare Flare Song" as it's usually used to accompany their staring / lens flare montages. Pretty much every single comment in that song's video is referencing Honest Trailers and/or Screen Junkies.
* {{Corpsing}}: In the Honest Trailer for ''Film/SpiderManNoWayHome'' the joke credit for Creator/AlfredMolina is a play on "If I Were A Rich Man" from ''Theatre/FiddlerOnTheRoof'' (which Molina starred in after ''Film/SpiderMan2''). Jon Bailey can be heard laughing to himself as he finishes the line just before it cuts to the next credit.
* DuelingWorks: Cinema Sins, Honest Trailers and How It Should Have Ended all released their respective entries for ''Film/BackToTheFuturePartII'' in the same day (October 21, 2015), because it was a MeaningfulReleaseDate.
* InMemoriam: The Honest Game Trailer for ''VideoGame/{{Godfall}}'' started with a dedication to voice actor Creator/BradVenable, who was the regular narrator of the Honest Game Trailers at the time of his death.
* MeaningfulReleaseDate: As described above, the Honest Trailer of the ''Franchise/BackToTheFuture'' trilogy was released on October 21, 2015; the day when Marty [=McFly=] arrived to the future in ''Film/BackToTheFuturePartII''.
** The ''Film/ReeferMadness'' ''Film/TheBigLebowski'' trailer came out on [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/420_(cannabis_culture) April 20, fitting of the marijuana theme.]]
* PromotedFanboy: [[http://www.artofthetitle.com/title/deadpool/ Almost happened]]. One of the pitches for the end credits of ''Film/{{Deadpool|2016}}'' was to have an ''Honest Trailer'' play within the actual movie, complete with having the same narrator to do it.
* RoleReprise:
** Will Sasso reprises his role as Music/RandyNewman from ''Series/MadTV1995'' and ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' in the ''WesternAnimation/ToyStory1'' trailer.
** Creator/RyanReynolds reprises his role as Deadpool for the ''Film/{{Deadpool|2016}}'' trailer and again in ''Film/{{Logan}}'' and ''Film/Deadpool2''.
** Elias Toufexis turns up in the 'Read your comments' part of the ''Franchise/{{Deus Ex|Universe}}'' trailer to read the comments as Adam Jensen.
** Zack Ward appears as a grown-up Scut Farkus in the trailer for ''Film/AChristmasStory''.
* RoleEndingMisdemeanor: Creator Andy Signore [[GodDoesNotOwnThisWorld was fired]] after sexual harassment accusations came against him in the wake of the [=#MeToo=] movement.[[note]]Signore would later [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wgOFa4A0UM challenge the accusations.]][[/note]] The rest of the crew enacted a hiatus to re-structure with his absence, enact new sexual harassment policies within the company, and made their best efforts to be transparent with their fans going forward.
* ThrowItIn: The reference to Jordan Vogt-Roberts' feud with ''WebVideo/CinemaSins'' was not in the initial plans for ''Kong'''s trailer. They also deny that the feud was staged to lead up to the trailer, either.
* UnCancelled: As a result of Smosh Games' parent company Defy Media abruptly closing without warning, there weren't any new Honest Game Trailers from November 2018-May 2019, until Fandom took over sponsorship.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Screen Junkies was hoping to have Music/SmashMouth sing for the ''WesternAnimation/Shrek1'' Honest Trailer but the band didn't want to do it, possibly because they got tired of being associated with the movie.
** When ''Film/AvengersEndgame'' was about to be released in theaters, the team were thinking on doing an Honest Trailer for ''Film/TheAvengers1998'' as clickbait, but decided to go with ''Film/HowardTheDuck'' instead just to poke fun at Marvel before they got on track with their films.
** In the Honest Trailer for ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManIntoTheSpiderVerse'', the alternate universe narrator Australian Voice Guy was going to be SilentMovie Guy, who would only talk through captions, but the writers felt that it would be too much text to read with Epic Telenovela Woman's subtitles.
** Creator/BruceCampbell was supposed to cameo in the trailer for ''Film/TheEvilDead1981'', but due to scheduling conflicts it ultimately fell through.
