* The Oblask Dam in the Siberia level is a shout out to the Bylemore Dam level of ''VideoGame/{{GoldenEye|1997}}''. It uses a very similar dam, camera movement in the intro and a lot of the same noises. Hardly surprising given that some of that game's devs became Free Radical Design members.
* The Chicago level features a bar called [[VideoGame/PerfectDark O'Leary's]]. The antagonist, mob boss Big Tony, also calls to mind [[Series/TheSopranos another girthy mobster called Tony]].
* The Notre Dame level features a [[Literature/TheHunchbackOfNotreDame hunchback ally]].
* The Neo Tokyo level takes its name from ''Manga/{{Akira}}'', but is intended as a homage to ''Film/BladeRunner''. It has the floating cars, the Asian-influenced culture, and the the incessant 'Cross Now' from the street signs.
** It also pays homage to ''Literature/{{Neuromancer}}'', as the protagonist of the level, Ghost, is similar to the character Case. His gallery description mentions an AI Core and lists his occupation as a "cyberjock."
* The "Sincerest Form of Flattery" Arcade League Series consists of missions that parody other First Person Shooters: [[VideoGame/{{Turok}} Aztec the Dinosaur Hunter]], [[VideoGame/HalfLife Half Death]], and [[VideoGame/RedFaction Dead Fraction]].

!!''[=TimeSplitters=] Future Perfect''
* "The Khallos Express" seems to be a homage to ''VideoGame/{{GoldenEye|1997}}''[='s=] "Train" level, down to using the aforementioned intro camera movement.
* Within the first mission, "Time to Split", a Marine can be heard saying to his compatriots, [[Film/StarshipTroopers "Come on, Marines! You want to live forever!?]]
* In ''What Lies Below'', when Cortez checks the files on Crow's computer and the self-destruction sequence starts, [[HackedByAPirate an animation]] appears with Crow [[FingerWag wagging his finger]] and the caption [[Film/JurassicPark "You didn't say the magic word"]].
** The contraption that Jo-Beth is strapped to as a sacrifice to "Princess" is similar to the one from ''Film/IndianaJonesAndTheTempleOfDoom''.
* In ''Breaking and Entering'' you activate a cleaning robot to get past a security door that's locked because it's after work hours, just like in the developers' previous game ''VideoGame/PerfectDark''.
* In ''You Genius, U-Genix'', Cortez obtains the ID card of a scientist named [[VideoGame/HalfLife Gordon]].
* Also in ''You Genius, U-Genix'', a fleeing guard cries "Game over man, game over!", a reference to the film ''Film/{{Aliens}}''.
** An earlier reference to ''Aliens'' occurs in "Time to Split", when a space marine is heard saying, "Shoot anything with teeth bigger than its face!" and "They're coming outta the walls! They're coming outta the goddamn walls!".
* Crow's last word is "[[Film/CitizenKane Rosebud]]".
* The Ghost Gun in the haunted house level is a shout-out to ''Franchise/{{Ghostbusters}}'', but it acts like the Ghost Dematerializer from ''WesternAnimation/FilmationsGhostbusters''.
* The soprano song that features through the haunted-house level comes from ''Film/EndOfDays''.
* The zombie levels feature the NPC Lenny Oldburn, whose shakey demeanor is based on Music/OzzyOsbourne.
* The Disco Club ending could be reference to a certain [[VideoGame/JetForceGemini third-person shooter that was also made from devs' former company.]]
* The multiplayer:
** It features a cyborg monkey that looks suspiciously like a simian Franchise/RoboCop.
** It also has Clip Clamp, a zombie character that, when selected says "[[Film/ShaunOfTheDead Do I have red on me?]]" This is a bit of a mutual reference, as ''Shaun of the Dead'' had a scene in which Ed plays ''[=TimeSplitters=] 2''.
** When selected, the Insetik SD/12 says "[[Series/BattlestarGalactica1978 By Your Command]]".
** The description for the zombie biker character Jed notes that "[[Film/PulpFiction Jed's dead, baby]]".
** Selecting Deadwina has her acting possessed and giving softened quotes from ''Film/TheExorcist''.
--->'''Deadwina:''' Do you see what your cunning daughter has done...? My mother sucks lollipops in hell!"
** The description for Headsprouter references ''Literature/LittleRedRidingHood''.
--->My, Mr. Headsprouter, what big teeth you have!
** Selecting Jack Sprocket has him doing the crane kick from ''Film/{{The Karate Kid|1984}}''.
** Robot Louis Stevenson's name is a reference to Creator/RobertLouisStevenson.
** Vlad the Installer's name is a reference to UsefulNotes/VladTheImpaler.
