* There are a lot of parodies of well-known TV shows in this movie:
** ''Maho Mushi'' is a general parody of shonen anime, primarily the ''Franchise/DragonBall'' franchise, although elements of ''{{Franchise/Pokemon}}'', ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}'' and ''Franchise/{{Transformers}}'' are also thrown in.
** ''Carpet Critters'' is a parody of fellow Creator/{{Nickelodeon}} show ''{{WesternAnimation/Rugrats}}'' (though the title is reminiscent of this short-lived 1990s primetime animated show called ''WesternAnimation/CapitolCritters''). Klasky-Csupo actually provided [[ParodyAssistance animation to their station-mates]].
** ''The Futurellis'' is a parody of ''WesternAnimation/TheJetsons'' with elements of ''Series/TheSopranos'' mixed in.
** ''Johnny Hunt'' is a parody of ''WesternAnimation/JonnyQuest''.
** ''Go Go Racer'' is a parody of ''Anime/SpeedRacer''.
** ''Heavy Hal'' is a parody of ''[[WesternAnimation/FatAlbertandtheCosbyKids Fat Albert]]''.
** ''Blackbird'' is a parody of the ''Franchise/{{Batman}}'' cartoons, with a few elements of ''WesternAnimation/Birdman1967'' added in. It is the third Batman parody in the series, after Catman (which parodied the live-action show) and Dark Mark from Power Pals (which parodied the comics).
** ''Paula Poundcake'' is a parody of ''WesternAnimation/StrawberryShortcake''.
** ''Politically Inaccurate Smashdown'' is a parody of political talk shows and professional wrestling. The names are references to ''Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher'' and ''Wrestling/WWESmackDown''.
** ''The Million Dollar Spin'' is a parody of ''Series/WheelOfFortune''.
** ''Ted & Jimmy'' is a parody of ''WesternAnimation/TomAndJerry''. They would revisit the show in a later episode, "Mice Capades", with the parody ''Sleazy & Cheezy''.
** ''Clint's Hints'' is a parody of ''WesternAnimation/BluesClues'', another Nickelodeon show.
** ''Poppyseed Avenue'' is a parody of ''Series/SesameStreet'', done in puppet-show style.
** ''Adolescent Genetically Modified Karate Cows'' is a parody of ''Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles''. The turtle expies being cows might be a reference to ''WesternAnimation/WildWestCOWBoysOfMooMesa''.
** ''Walnuts'' is a parody of the ''ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}}'' TV specials, such as ''WesternAnimation/ItsTheGreatPumpkinCharlieBrown'' and ''WesternAnimation/ACharlieBrownChristmas''.
** Channel 293 has a Rankin-Bass style stop-motion Christmas special a la ''WesternAnimation/RudolphTheRedNosedReindeer''.
*** ''WesternAnimation/FrostyTheSnowMan'' makes a cameo on the channel.
** ''Rabid Rabbit'' is a parody of the ''WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes'' DuckSeasonRabbitSeason episodes. The WesternAnimation/DaffyDuck parody also has [[WesternAnimation/DonaldDuck white feathers, a blue top and a red bowtie]].
** ''The Meatflints'' is a parody of ''WesternAnimation/TheFlintstones''
** ''Space Specter'' is a parody of ''WesternAnimation/SpaceGhost'' (the original version of the show, not ''WesternAnimation/SpaceGhostCoasttoCoast'') with a few ''Franchise/StarTrek'' elements thrown in.
** ''The Feldmans'' is a parody of ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'', complete with [[LawyerFriendlyCameo Lawyer Friendly versions]] of Bumblebee Man (Vicky dressed as a flying ladybug), Ned Flanders (who is shown as a hippie who speaks gibberish instead of a conservative Christian man who speaks gibberish), Krusty the Clown, and Barney Gumble (who is shown as a gross, belching slob instead of a drunk, though it is implied that he is one when he flies into "Mike's"[[note]]the show's take on "Moe's Tavern"[[/note]] after gaining superpowers from the radiation spill). Timmy even points out that every adult in ''The Feldmans'' is stupid and no help to any child, a TakeThat to both ''The Simpsons'' and ''The Fairly [=OddParents=]'' itself.
** ''Snooper Dog'' is a parody of ''Franchise/ScoobyDoo'', with a few elements of its short-lived sister show ''WesternAnimation/GooberAndTheGhostChasers'' thrown in. The Snooper Dog character is also inspired by Music/SnoopDogg.
** The Biographical Channel is a parody of Creator/TheHistoryChannel. "Dictator Week" is a reference to Creator/DiscoveryChannel's "Shark Week".
* The CutSong "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-E8VlwnKJY If I Lived in TV]]" features even more parodies (these are generally more [[ParentalBonus likely to be familiar to adults]], which may be why the song was cut):
** ''Series/ThreesCompany''
** ''Series/BarneyAndFriends''
** ''Series/TheSixMillionDollarMan''
** ''Series/HappyDays'' (complete with the by-now mandatory JumpingTheShark gag)
** ''Series/{{Today}}'''s weather segment, with Al Roker
** ''[[Creator/DavidLetterman Late Night With David Letterman]]'' (more specifically, the segment "Late Show Top Ten List")
** ''Series/WheelOfFortune''
** ''Series/SaturdayNightLive'' (featuring shout-outs to several well-known sketches and film adaptations like ''Film/TheBluesBrothers'', ''Film/WaynesWorld'', and ''Film/{{Coneheads}}'')
** ''Series/{{Friends}}'' (with the song itself being based upon ''Friends''' theme tune "I’ll Be There For You")
** ''Series/AmericanIdol'', with Timmy in the role of Simon Cowell. They would later do an entire episode ("Fairy Idol") on this concept and introduce another Cowell {{Expy}} in "Timmy TV" (who himself would return for "Fairy Idol").
** ''Series/DiffrentStrokes''
** ''Series/{{Survivor}}''
* The scenes with Tootie as "Deep Toot" are based on the Deep Throat scenes in ''Film/AllThePresidentsMen'', based on the ''Washington Post'' investigation that uncovered UsefulNotes/RichardNixon's attempts to rig the 1972 US presidential election. "Deep Throat" was a pseudonym used by FBI agent Mark Felt to relay classified government information to Bob Woodward.
* BadFuture Vicky is dressed like UsefulNotes/AdolfHitler.
* The ending is a nod to ''WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes''.
* "Today's show is brought to you by the letter [[Creator/{{Viacom}} V]]!"[[note]]Although it may be a coincidence. The "V" is obviously meant to refer to Vicky.[[/note]]
* Timmy and Vicky's [[BattleCry Battle Cries]] in ''Maho Mushi'':
-->'''Timmy:''' ''[[Creator/HayaoMiyazaki MIYAZAKI!!]]''
-->'''Vicky:''' ''[[Creator/AkiraKurosawa KUROSAWA!!]]''
** [[Franchise/DragonBall Timmy's battle attire resembles Goku's gi, and Vicky's battle attire resembles Piccolo's.]]
* Butch Hartman's name is in the credits of ''Adolescent Genetically Modified Karate Cows''.
* [[WesternAnimation/ChristmasWho Vicky takes a picture of a miserable Timmy.]]
* Near the beginning, Timmy's mom is trying to sell a Music/{{glass house|s}} to a man named [[Music/BillyJoel Mr. Joel]].
* The robot that Timmy controls in Maho Mushi has a head that resembles [[Toys/{{BIONICLE}} Turaga Vakama's mask.]]
