Meek little Karen Beecher is intimidated by big broody Carter Hall until she discovers Hawkman's tragically romantic destiny and vows to use her vast knowledge of cheesy teen romcoms to help him reunite with his beloved.
----
!!Tropes:
* ActOfTrueLove: Carter refuses to date Shiera if avoiding her means she'll be safe from Hath-Set.
* BittersweetEnding: Hawkman and Bumblebee manage to get Hath-Set to leave, but he decides to stand up Shiera so she won't be in danger.
* BlatantLies: When Karen sees what Carter was painting in art class he tries to insist twice that it's a bowl of fruit. It's a picture of his crush.
* ADayInTheLimelight: The episode is centred on Hawkman, his backstory, and his tragic love.
* InstantlyProvenWrong: Carter tells Karen that it could take him a lifetime to find Chay-Ara's current reincarnation.... and then immediately spots her mid-sentence.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Hath-Seth treats Carter's romantic woes as a massive imposition against him that Carter's done ''just'' to get at him. This is when he's trying to murder the guy, because how's he supposed to kill Khufu and Chay-Ara if they haven't met yet?
* LoopholeAbuse: How Carter ends up beating Hath-Set. Carter explains that he and Shiera haven't actually fallen in love yet this incarnation, forcing Hath-Set to retreat, and from there decides not to date her because Hath-Set can't destroy his romance with Shiera if they never fall in love.
* MythologyGag:
** The giant monster in the gaudy color combinations at the very beginning of the episode is actually a real DC Comics character, Mr. Nebula. He's a cosmic being who redecorates planets into eye-bleedingly tacky versions of themselves, except here where he's just a snarling monster.
** Shiera's outfit exactly matches the colors of Hawkgirl's costume in ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague'' -- yellow top, green pants, and where Hawkgirl wore red trunks, Shiera wears a red sweater tied around her waist; also, Shiera wears yellow footwear and bares her midriff like Hawkgirl in later episodes.
** Carter and Shiera's date was to be at Besolo's Bistro. "Besolo" was the surname actor Creator/GeorgeReeves' had growing up.
* NotSoStoic: Hawkman's usually quiet and grouchy, but trying to woo Shiera takes him out of his comfort zone.
* SequelHook: The last scene shows Shiera sketching Khufu/Carter's likeness on a napkin, implying she remembers their past lives after all.
* ShipperOnDeck: Karen projects her love of romantic movies onto Carter and Shiera, becoming an ''aggressive'' supporter.
* StalkerShrine: Carter finds one in Shiera's changing room making it look like he's a stalker, and has to hurriedly get it out and destroy the evidence.
* ThatCameOutWrong: One of Karen's ideas has Carter approach Shiera with a message [[Film/LoveActually written out on cue cards]] saying "Will - you - be - mine?" Carter flees and drops the cards, making it look like it says "You - will - be - mine" instead.
