A [[FilmPosters Film Poster Trope]] that has ties to old pulp comics or adventure book covers. It depicts a muscle-bound man in a dominant pose, with an attractive woman literally clinging to one of his legs. After all, MenAreStrongWomenArePretty. The man is always a {{Hunk}} (handsome and manly), and very often is depicted shirtless (or with his shirt torn open), to reinforce how tough he is, with a cocky expression on his face and a PhallicWeapon on one hand, even maybe [[StabTheSky stabbing the sky]]. Very often he's AtopAMountainOfCorpses, or viewed from a [[HitlerCam low angle]] atop a [[CoolChair throne]] to make him look even more intimidating than he already is. Meanwhile, the woman is almost always half-naked in a sexualized manner, with a [[DamselInDistress helpless expression and posture]] that reinforce her submissiveness. The contrast between the male and female characters alludes to the notion that [[MenActWomenAre men are defined by their actions and women by their passiveness]]. The pose was popularised at a time when oral sex was widely known but considered unmentionable, indecent, and grounds for divorce, making it ripe for encoding.

Sometimes it's more than just one woman at the man's feet, invoking ALadyOnEachArm trope.

Given gender {{double standard}}s about dominance and submissiveness, it is almost always (if not all of the time) a man who's standing tall, and a woman at his feet.

This trope was popularized by the fantasy art of Creator/FrankFrazetta [[http://frankfrazetta.org/viewimage.php?loc=frank_frazetta_thebarbarian.jpg]] and Creator/BorisVallejo [[https://web.archive.org/web/20180619155304/http://vallejo.ural.net/1978/show.php?017]] (Warning: it's even less safe for work than the picture to the right.)

It at least helps in Johnny's case that he's a paraplegic.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comedy]]
* Music/HenryRollins had a hilarious routine about van paintings like this, with the barbarian holding his sword aloft and "a wench clinging to his leg, staring wantonly at his nutsack, but he has no time for this woman, he needs to BOND WITH THE GOD OF THUNDER!!!"
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Books]]

* ''Franchise/ConanTheBarbarian'':

** ''ComicBook/RedSonja'' spoofed this in a drawing of the heroine standing over her slain enemies, with a dying mook clutching at her leg.
* ''ComicBook/ElfQuest: Jink'' did a gender-reversed take on this one, with a publicity shot of [[http://www.elfquest.com/gallery/OnlineComics/JK/JK01/DisplayJK01.html?page=26 Kullyn clinging to Jink's leg]] while she wields a [[SmallGirlBigGun laser rifle]].

* Creator/MarvelComics:
** Mary Jane Watson, of all people clings to... wait for it, wait for it... ComicBook/ThePunisher in ''ComicBook/MarvelUniverseVsThePunisher''.
** In ''ComicBook/NewMutants'' this gets a GenderFlip , of a male on a female's leg.
** Dave Cockrum did a [[https://i.pinimg.com/originals/62/d3/1f/62d31fe0c67103e128ade5b74a2bc37c.jpg parody version]] of the image to promote his humorous ''ComicBook/{{Nightcrawler}}'' mini-series.
** Spoofed in ''ComicBook/AllNewAllDifferentAvengers'', where we can see [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msmarvelfic.png an illustration]] for the fanfiction ''Ms. Marvel and the Teenage Love Triangle from Space'' featuring ComicBook/KamalaKhan with ComicBook/SpiderMan (Miles Morales) and ComicBook/{{Nova}} (Sam Alexander) clinging to her legs.
* In ''ComicBook/TheSimpsons[=/=]ComicBook/{{Futurama}} Crossover Crisis'', after several characters had been pulled out of fiction, Franchise/{{Conan|TheBarbarian}} is inconvenienced by one of these:
-->'''Conan:''' Ow, by Crom! It's hard enough to fight without this wench hanging off my leg!\
'''Wench:''' Hey, I'm a [[LampshadeHanging leg wench]]. Do I tell ''you'' how to do ''your'' job?
* ComicBook/{{Vampirella}} probably was envious of Red Sonja, now she has a spoof cover too. ("Savage Tales", 2018)

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* One Fanartist's NinjaPirateZombieRobot ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'' poster involves MemeticBadass Wang Fire... you know what, you just have to [[http://www.deviantart.com/download/91784320/My_Nick_Avatar_Fanart_Entry_by_Booter_Freak.png see it.]]
* [[http://ninjaink.deviantart.com/art/Son-of-Coul-301410545 "Son of Coul"]] parodies the ''Army of Darkness'' poster, ''[[Film/TheAvengers2012 Avengers]]''-style, with Phil Coulson as the man with the {{BFG}} and Natasha Romanoff doing the clinging.
* Parodied deliciously [[https://www.deviantart.com/art/Rory-Destroyer-of-Worlds-330428489 here]], using ''Series/DoctorWho''[='s=] "The Last Centurion" as the standing badass.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'':
** Join the [[http://firebrandkun.deviantart.com/art/MLP-Shining-Armor-Supports-the-Troops-361556813 Equestria Royal Guard Today!]] Featuring Shining Armor, and Princess Cadance doing the leg cling.
** Once Bon Bon was revealed as "Special Agent Sweetie Drops" in episode "Slice of Life", do you really think fan-artists could resist picturing Lyra clinging to her? Of course not. For starter, there's the illustration for the fanfic ''[[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/273313/bon-bond Bon-Bond: For Your Hooves Only]]''.
** ComicBook/{{Deadpool}} ''really'' [[Film/Deadpool2016 likes unicorns!]] [[https://derpibooru.org/1465568 So, Rarity obliges.]]
* ''Franchise/StarWars'':

** [[http://felipemassafera.deviantart.com/art/Boba-Fett-roughs-139473585 One Boba Fett Comic.]]
* The song ''What Cohen Did Next'' at the end of the ''Literature/{{Discworld}}'' fanvid ''Troll Bridge'':
-->For Cohen had heroing down to a tee,\
He climbed on the pile of their bodies with glee,\
As the girl from the spider stall clung to his knee,\
He stood there barbarically posing,\
Stood there barbarically posing.

[[folder:Films -- Animation]]
* Creator/BorisVallejo's [[http://www.impawards.com/2007/posters/aqua_teen_hunger_force_colon_movie_film_for_theaters.jpg poster]] for the ''WesternAnimation/AquaTeenHungerForce {{Colon|Cancer}} [[TheMovie Movie Film for Theaters]]''.
* A drawing in "The Art of ''WesternAnimation/MonstersVsAliens''" book shows a muscular President Hathaway with sexy women grabbing onto his legs.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* [[http://meansheets.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/the-big-head-italian-film-poster.jpg The Italian]] poster for ''The Big Head''.
* The final pose of the movie ''Film/BlackDynamite'' -- see the page image of the article.
* Subverted in ''Film/BlackSnakeMoan'' -- Rae does this to Lazarus as he plays the guitar and tells her about his life, but their relationship is decidedly non-sexual and weirdly sweet, even though she ReallyGetsAround and [[MisaimedMarketing the plot was promoted as being otherwise]].
* ''Film/TheBurning'': After the raft is found and the remaining campers freak out, one of them is shown desperately clinging to another's leg.
* ''Film/ConanTheBarbarian1982''. King Osric has a couple of beautiful women seated at his feet, but they're wrapped in fur and he doesn't pay attention to them, as it's just another sign of a wealth that's become meaningless now his daughter has become member of Thulsa Doom's cult. Said daughter is later shown playing the trope straight, sprawled scantily-clad at her master's feet as he sits on his throne. He doesn't pay any attention to her either though, just transforming into a snake and slithering off.
* The poster for ''Film/{{Dolemite}}'' features several ladies doing this to our hero. One of them even has her fingers the wrapped around the gun between Dolemite's legs as it discharges. [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything Yup.]]
* ''Franchise/EvilDead'': The ''Film/ArmyOfDarkness'' [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Army_of_Darkness_poster.jpg poster]]. The strapping powerful male (also note the [[HitlerCam low angle "power" shot]]) with a DamselInDistress literally clinging to his heel, with a phallic chainsaw for good measure.
* ''Film/FeedingFrenzy'': Played for comedy in its comically TestosteronePoisoning [[https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BMjIwMTc3MjMwOV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwOTQyNjIwNA@@._V1_.jpg poster]], which is highly inaccurate to the film.
* Film/{{Flash Gordon|Serial}}'s {{Parallel Porn Title|s}} ''[[http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1819974912/tt0068595 Flesh Gordon]]''.
* ''[[http://m.blog.hu/fi/filmdroid/image/peter/%21regiplakatok/posters_18.jpg Hell Comes to Frog Town]]''
* Film/JamesBond 007 in ''[[http://www.thespacereview.com/archive/779a.jpg Moonraker]]'' is pushing the limit, with ALadyOnEachArm and clinging to each leg.
* [[http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/69/Joe_dirt.jpg The poster]] for ''Film/JoeDirt''.
* [[http://www.imdb.com/media/rm4264598784/tt0113749 The poster]] for ''Film/{{Mallrats}}''.
* Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOT2Sj_9i_s A deleted scene]] from ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol2'' has Ego showing the Guardians a Xandar War Memorial he built, showing Star-Lord "single-handedly saving the galaxy". To the dismay of the other Guardians, Peter Quill is pictured as larger than life, standing triumphantly above Ronan the Accuser, with Drax reduced to a monkey on his shoulder and Gamora clinging submissively to his leg.
** ''Film/ThorRagnarok'': As Thor and Loki work their way toward the hangers to commandeer the Grandmaster's ship, they enter a room while wielding large rifle blasters to take down the guards inside. Said guards happen to be standing in front of a statue of the Grandmaster that looks straight out of a Vallejo painting, complete with him holding a massive blaster over his head while a woman clings to his right leg.
* Film/NationalLampoon:
** Chevy Chase [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nationallampoonsvacation_1983.jpg knows what we're talking about]] in ''Film/NationalLampoonsVacation''.
** Chevy also [[https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089670/mediaviewer/rm3349615616 doesn't know when to quit]] (in more ways than one) in ''Film/NationalLampoonsEuropeanVacation'' (although instead of his wife and the girl in a Ferrari, this time the other leg has his son).
* Though she doesn't fit in the buxom category, Elizabeth Swann inexplicably did this to Jack Sparrow in ''Film/PiratesOfTheCaribbeanDeadMansChest'' while he was attempting to shoot the Kraken.
* Italian action B-movie ''[[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rolf_poster.jpg Rolf]]''.
* The poster for ''Film/SuperCapers'', painted by Drew Struzan of all people.
* [[http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3679362816/tt0084935 The poster ]] for ''Film/YorTheHunterFromTheFuture''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
* ''Literature/BimbosOfTheDeathSun'': As part of its cover, the eponymous book has a scantily-clad barbarian woman clinging to the leg of a muscular scientist with a clipboard.
* ''Franchise/ConanTheBarbarian'':
** Franchise/ConanTheBarbarian [[http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/346/conanearlnoremjr1.jpg is often depicted with a woman doing this.]] Plus [[http://www.rehupa.com/images/lancers_conan_adventurer_painting.jpg Conan the Adventurer]].
** A grateful DamselInDistress does this at the end of ''Literature/TheValeOfLostWomen'', to Conan's embarrassment.
** At the start of ''Literature/XuthalOfTheDusk'' Natala does this -- admittedly due to exhaustion rather than Conan's manly allure.
* ''Literature/{{Discworld}}'':
** {{Gender Flip}}ped by Paul Kidby for the ''Discworld Calendar 2012'': one picture shows Conina the Barbarian Hairdresser (from ''Literature/{{Sourcery}}''), striking a pose with Rincewind clinging to her leg.
** Similarly, Marc Simonetti's cover for the French edition of ''Literature/InterestingTimes'' has Rincewind clinging to Cohen's leg.
* Several of the ''Literature/{{Flashman}}'' books, including the eponymous debut and ''[[http://www.museumsyndicate.com/images/3/25043.jpg Flash for Freedom]]''. With Flashman it's arguably a subversion, because the protagonist is a contemptible bully.
* A non-image ([[HoYay and male-male]]) variant appears in ''Literature/{{Hurog}}'', when Oreg is summoned to Ward's side and clings to his leg in an attempt to get as close to him as humanly possible, with a PleaseDontLeaveMe thrown in for good measure. [[spoiler:Justified as Oreg is under a curse that causes agonising pain if he is separated from Ward, and the two have been miles apart for ''hours''.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* In ''Series/AsTimeGoesBy'', Lionel is going on a promotion of his book, ''My Life in Kenya'' (a story about his time as a coffee planter in Kenya), but the publisher, Alistair, wants him to dress in the classic African Explorer outfit, complete with rifle, and to have a scantily-clad young girl clinging to his leg. "Li" is not happy.
* The KoreanDrama ''Series/BestLove'': Jae Suk during a drunken confession to Dokko Gin.
* One promotion picture for ''Series/DoctorWho'' has Creator/ChristopherEccleston in front with Creator/BilliePiper doing this.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Music]]
* Done in the cover of Exciter's ''Long Live the Loud''.
* The cover for Music/{{Manowar}}'s ''Gods of War'' album has [[https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7d/Gods-of-war-Cover.JPG the Sons of Odin getting this from nude valkyries]] (NSFW).
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Music Videos]]
* "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4zbBEifkrU&feature=popular Moon Girl]]"
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Myths & Religion]]
* OlderThanFeudalism: It happens in ''Literature/TheIliad''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games]]
* Unsurprisingly, featured in the ''VideoGame/{{Deadpool}}'' video game, with two scantily clad women clinging to ComicBook/{{Deadpool}}'s legs -- as can be seen on Teamheadkick's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=544WmUAvsYs&t=2m56s "Deadpool Rap"]] video.
* The ''VideoGame/DukeNukemForever'' promos feature a variant of this with Duke sitting in a throne and two girls at his feet.
* The cover for ''[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaan:_Barbarian%27s_Blade Kaan: Barbarian's Blade]]''.
* FMV in ''[[VideoGame/LunarTheSilverStar Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete]]'', shows Luna [[spoiler:awakened as the goddess Althena, doing this to Magic Emperor Ghaleon]].
* Shao Kahn's victory pose in ''VideoGame/MortalKombat9'' features a slave girl in GoGoEnslavement gear crawling over and performing a leg cling.
* Featured on the [[https://www.c64-wiki.com/images/8/82/Stormlord_Cover.jpg cover art]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qr73jWMfGPg title screen]] for an old computer game called ''Stormlord'', with a female character that's oddly smaller than the male character she is clinging to.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Webcomics]]
* ''Webcomic/DaughterOfTheLilies'': Parodied and gender-flipped on one [[ShowWithinAShow in-universe novel]] in the cliché-soaked [[http://www.daughterofthelilies.com/dotl/808 saga]] of {{Barbarian Hero}}ine T'Fa'Nii the Clanless, complete with ChainmailBikini.
* Parodied in ''Webcomic/DragonMango'': the door to [[TrainingFromHell Sherbert]]'s house has a sign depicting a hero standing triumphantly over a monster's corpse with a leg clinger and has the caption "you must be at least this badass to enter".
* From ''Webcomic/{{Drowtales}}'' we have [[http://www.drowtales.com/~daydream/wallpapers.php?sid=9193 this homage to the famous Frazetta painting (requires a Daydream subscription to view)]] with the minor characters/[[ShowWithinAShow Relic Hunters RP characters]] Tur'geis, Min'issya, and Riz'riia. Fits the above description to a tee, save for the not-at-all submissive facial expressions and body language of Min'issya and Riz'riia. Appropriate given that Tur'geis is a near Expy of both Ash Williams and Conan.
* ''Webcomic/EnnuiGo'': [[http://ennuigo.thecomicseries.com/comics/666 An all-female example]] (NSFW) with the opening of the ShowWithinAShow ''Sister Slug''. (Well, an all-NaughtyNun example to be precise.)
* [[http://www.egscomics.com/sketchbook/?date=2010-11-26 One strip]] from ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive'' is a parody of the aformentioned ''Army of Darkness'' poster.
* ''Webcomic/GirlGenius'': [[https://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20230515 The "flashback" panel]] of Dr. Hengst von Wyrmhaut (Monster Hunter) escaping Mechanisburg, as told by Hector, features him with a DamselInDistress clinging to his leg. The actual true story, as told by Franz, is a lot less glamorous.
* ''Webcomic/GrrlPower'': The trope is referenced for comedy purposes when Sydney's lawyer mother reminds her artist father about some work that she landed for him.
-->'''Laura:''' I got you the job doing the movie poster for ''Krognar, Champion of [[FreakierThanFiction Intercourse, PA]]''.\
'''Sydney Sr.:''' Oh, right, yeah! The one with all the ladies clutching onto the hero's leg.
* In ''Webcomic/ImpureBlood'', [[http://www.impurebloodwebcomic.com/Pages/ISSUE06PAGES/ib127.html Mac]] while Roan is rescuing her. Given that he is still fighting at this point, and they are still coming for her, one suspect she's trying to hide from those claws between his feet.
* Gender-inverted and parodied with the "poster" for ''Webcomic/MaggieTheCatWhoFightsDemons'': here the buff guy isn't so much clinging to the cat heroine's leg, he's propping her up (the other leg resting on a motorcycle) because she's so short.
* Parodied in ''Webcomic/MenageA3'': [=DiDi=] and Zii perform one of these for [[CampGay Dillon]] [[https://pixietrixcomix.com/menage-a-3/the-greatest-of-gifts when he presents them all with tickets to his show]].
* Brent Sienna as Iron Thor is the cover to ''Webcomic/PvP'' [[http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/pvp/17-1.jpg #17]].
* One of the flashback comics in ''Webcomic/SisterClaire'' features [[http://www.sisterclaire.com/missing-moments/missing-moment-salita-3 a version of this pose]] with Clementine and Gabi watching the sun rise over Thronum Mare -- except Clementine is a scrawny teenage girl with horns and Gabi is her [[SelkiesAndWereseals selkie]] girlfriend.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Original]]
* A "historically accurate" model from ''Doctor Grordbort's Contrapulatronic Dingus Directory'' features SteamPunk hero Lord Cockswain being clasped this way by a Venusian princess, with the implication that they should [[FakeUltimateHero actually be the other way round]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Videos]]
* ''WebVideo/DiamandaHagan'': Another gender-inversed example with the title screen of the ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmuiHUrvMgU Berserker: Hell's Warrior]]'' review episode. It's Diamanda as the muscle-bound barbarian warrior, and [[WebVideo/BadMovieBeatdown Filmbrain]] as the scantily-clad wench between her legs.
* ''WebVideo/JourneyQuest'' has BarbarianHero Karn's wife Starling doing this (or just lounging at his feet) when he's ruling his kingdom. He thinks that it's demeaning and that she should have her own throne, but she prefers it.
* A rare male-to-male example can be found in Freddie Wong's "Huge Guns" video, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6CXAaI1OAo here]].
* In the outtakes for ''WebVideo/{{Kickassia}}'', [[WebVideo/TheSpoonyExperiment Spoony]] (who brought a prop lightsaber for the fight) imitates Luke Skywalker for a poster shot while Creator/JewWario does the leg cling. Doug Walker put it best:
-->'''Doug:''' [[HoYay That is the gayest thing...]]
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3BEZ9cLxKM fan film]] ''ComicBook/MarvelZombies vs. Film/ArmyOfDarkness'' also parodies this, with [[ComicBook/SpiderMan Gwen Stacy]] clinging to Ash's legs when they are confronted by several zombiefied Marvel heroes.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* Interesting variation in the TitleSequence for ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'', in which the clinger is NOT an attractive woman, but the main character's dog. And brother. It's complicated.
* The page image for ''WesternAnimation/GolanTheInsatiable'' parodies this with Carole Beekler (Dylan's mother) clinging to the leg of the eponymous Golan. They're not AtopAMountainOfCorpses, though, but atop a... pile of furnitures.
* In the ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' episode "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E24MysteryOnTheFriendshipExpress MMMystery on the Friendship Express]]", Pinkie Pie's ImagineSpot about Donut Joe destroying her cake with lasers ends with two mares appearing out of nowhere solely to strike this pose.
%%* [[http://vimeo.com/91504133 The Serpent Princess]]
* On ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'', Otto draws a comic book known as ''Bus Man'', with [[HerCodeNameWasMarySue a beefed-up version of himself]] as the main character, and a scantily-clad woman clinging to his leg.
* ''Franchise/{{Transformers}}'': The (fairly silly) ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'' episode "The Low Road" has a shot of the Maximals making a dramatic entrance, with [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vlcsnap-2012-02-13-19h24m58s59_7460.png Airazor doing this to Optimus]]; she's standing normally a moment later.

!!!Variants without the Leg Cling

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* The cover art for the infamous volume 13 of ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'' offers a variant, with a shirtless, bloodsoaked Guts cradling a naked Casca in his (severed) arm, while he holds a broken sword in the other arm and has sinister smirk on his face. The backdrop of the scene is full of demons, and Guts looks quite manly and victorious in the moment... [[spoiler:[[CoversAlwaysLie If only it had actually played out like this in the actual story.]]]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* [[http://sardoose.rustedlogic.net/reviews/jturbo/jturbo3-1.htm The cover of the last issue]] of ''ComicBook/JohnnyTurbo'' sports a retooling of the ''Star Wars'' cover. Notable in that it actually involves two ''guys''.
* Creator/MarvelComics:
** [[http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/14/145416/2907823-darkavengers010pg2425.jpg a recreation of the Enchantress]] in front of Molecule Man's throne in his appearance in ''ComicBook/DarkAvengers''.
** As seen [[http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Doctor_Strange,_Sorcerer_Supreme_Vol_1_5 here,]] Clea is often posing submissively on ''ComicBook/DoctorStrange'' covers, no matter how much demonic ass she kicks in the actual story.
