Furo Scene is a bathing scene involving the use of the Japanese style of bathing mostly for the purpose of {{Fanservice}}. A furo is a Japanese bathing tub similar to the Western hot tub; it is not used for washing but for soaking and relaxing. Most homes in Japan, and even some apartments, have one; they are usually big enough for two or more people to bathe together. Bathing in [[PublicBathhouseScene public baths]], called "sentou", is a common social activity, although it is typically sex-segregated. The process of a Furo differs from western-style bathing: the entire household uses the same bathwater, but keeps it clean by first showering and washing off outside of the bathtub and then getting in solely for the purpose of relaxation.

It is also done in the nude, which is where fanservice comes in. A Furo Scene, like a HotSpringsEpisode, is an excuse to show the female members of the cast sans clothing. It is also an easy excuse for the SkinshipGrope and NakedPeopleAreFunny, or maybe just some BathtubBonding. Another version is to have one or more characters sitting on a stool outside the bathtub while one either washes the other's back or hair (CensorSuds is more likely to be used as censorship in the former case while for the latter it would be a ModestyTowel).

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* ''Anime/AgentAika'': Aika Zero has one in Episodes 1 and 2 involving the three main characters Aika Sumeragi, Karen Minamino, and Eri Shinkai.
* Happens multiple times in ''Manga/AiYoriAoshi'', in the extremely large and luxurious ofuro in the main house. Also at an outdoor ofuro during a BeachEpisode. Also the subject of a good deal of sexual tension and humor in Kaoru's apartment during the first two episodes.
* Sento Isuzu of ''Literature/AmagiBrilliantPark'' has a furo scene in the opening, for not much except fanservice.
* ''Literature/BludgeoningAngelDokuroChan'' does pull off a [=Furo/=]{{Guro}} cross-over: The bath is so crowded that Sakura and the three angels get stuck. On her sister’s suggestion, Dokuro-chan then [[UnusualEuphemism makes Sakura very small]] with her club.
* ''Manga/CorpsePrincess'' has almost the entire female cast in a furo at one point, with strategically placed bubbles, of course.
* As a running gag in ''Manga/{{Doraemon}}'', poor Shizuka never gets to finish a bath or shower, and takes them ''all the time''. Literally so, as she's tried in other ''time periods'', just to be interrupted by Nobita, Doraemon, Gian, and Suneo.
* Happens quite a lot in ''Manga/FairyTail'', almost all of them with Lucy.
** Most notably the first ones are in Episode 3 and Chapter 4.
** Lucy has three more as filler scenes in Episodes 21, 29, and 42.
** Lucy and Cana have two together near the beginning and end of the S-Class Trial arc.
** The Fairy Tail special, Welcome to Fairy Hills!, has one with Erza, Evergreen, Levy, Bisca, Juvia, and Laki.
** Chapter 261 does it in an Onsen, this time with the "guys trying to peep on the female side" part (led by Natsu of all people!) Naturally, [[CovertPervert Erza]] sees no problem in telling them to join...
* In the series ''Literature/TheFamiliarOfZero'', Saito introduces the concept to the rest of the cast. Although they apparently already had one.
* Mai Shiranui has a FuroScene in the second ''VideoGame/FatalFury'' anime and a brief shower scene in TheMovie. In addition, she can be seen daydreaming while bathing in her ''[[VideoGame/FatalFury Real Bout]]'' ending.
* The anime version of ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' has one, as Shirou accidentally walks in on Saber, who, compared to the previous occasion this happened earlier in the anime, was actually embarrassed to be seen, believing her body which is more toned than Rin's makes her less attractive to Shirou, for whom she is beginning to become something of a DefrostingIceQueen for, though Shirou tries to convince her he finds her body attractive as best he can without making the situation more awkward than it already is, with little real success. She was mostly concealed by the water though.
** The manga has a scene at the beginning of the fifth volume set earlier in the series that partially defies this trope in the anime since he was about to walk into the furo just as she was coming out, where Shirou actually walks in on her while she's still in the furo, standing up, and completely naked. He freaks out. Big time.
* There is a fairly long scene in the second episode of ''Anime/FateExtraLastEncore'' in which Saber discusses the Holy Grail War with her Master in a bathhouse while wearing nothing but a hair ribbon. What little modesty she has is provided by camera angles, steam, and the position of her arms as she makes dramatic gestures.
* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' has a scene where Winry takes a bath, where we can see her nude body submerged in the water.
* ''Literature/FullMetalPanic'' has a very lengthy one involving Tessa, Kaname, and Mao. The twist is, what they're bathing in is actually a tank used for chemically cleaning mecha parts, but Tessa reveals [[MundaneUtility it is good for taking a hot bath too]] -- a reason to take advantage of her rank as submarine captain sometimes.
%%Zero-context* ''Manga/GirlsBravo'' has several scenes like this, especially in the manga.
%%** 'Several'? Try OnceAnEpisode for the anime!
* Rushuna Tendō in ''Anime/{{Grenadier}}'', virtually every episode. ''Grenadier'' lives for this trope: [[BathingBeauty Rushuna]] seems to spend every trip looking for another place to take a hot bath when she's not shooting everyone in sight.
* The second episode of ''Anime/{{Gunbuster}}'' has Noriko, Kazumi, and Jung Freud bonding in the space station's Japanese-style bath. Inevitably, cadets doing mech training start parading past the window.
* ''Manga/HanaukyoMaidTeam'':
** Taro and several of the maids share a communal bath during the HotSpringsEpisode in ''second'' half of Episode 7.
** Taro and Konoe share a waterfall shower in Episode 14.
* In ''Manga/HellTeacherNube'':
** The main characters are chased out of their baths by horrendous mold, hauntings, and worse. Then they all visit a public bathhouse while they figure out who's causing all this trouble. Bath scenes were split evenly between the male and female classmates and teachers. [[spoiler:It turns out that the {{youkai}} living in the bath house were the culprits, as the place is about to close ''and'' the kindly owner is being pressured by {{yakuza}}; Nube finds out, talks to them and they join forces to help the lady ''and'' kick the yakuza out.]]
** Izuna [[MsFanservice gets the majority of gratuitous bath scenes]] in her own apartment, to the point that her [[{{Youkai}} Tube Foxes]] often pop up with signs reading "[[LampshadeHanging Fanservice]]!" to conveniently cover her assets.
* The "Miss Hungary and her Maiden Heart" strip in ''Webcomic/HetaliaAxisPowers'' features CoolBigSis Hungary and her ward Chibitalia taking a bath together, [[FridgeLogic which leads us to question how she never realized Italy was a boy...]].
* ''Manga/HidamariSketch'' has Yuno contemplating events in her bath at the end of every episode. The girls also attend a public bath together and Miyako doesn't have any inhibitions to hop into the tub with Yuno when the opportunity arises. Strangely this is only used more for comedic effect than for actual {{fanservice}} as the characters are drawn in SuperDeformed style whenever they might otherwise show skin.
* ''Manga/HighSchoolOfTheDead'' deftly blends in its gratuitous Fanservice without slowing down the plot pacing or dominating the action. The episode where they reached a safehouse permitted them a cool-down interlude, which was packed with drunken, groping female bathers. Highest ecchi quotient of the series, yet still managed substantial CharacterDevelopment.
* There are two scenes in ''Manga/ICantUnderstandWhatMyHusbandIsSaying'' (once in each season) where Kaoru is shown relaxing in the bath while having an internal monologue (the first time about whether or not she'd be comfortable having a kid, the second time about her relationship with Hajime).
* There is a very female fan service one in ''Manga/KamisamaKiss'' when Kotetsu and Onikiri make a citrus bath for Tomoe to calm him down after having to fill in for Nanami at school.
* ''Manga/KingOfThorn'' has flashbacks to a furo scene of twins Kasumi and Shizuku bathing together. The first flashback is initially played for {{Fanservice}}, but quickly turns disturbing. The second flashback shows what actually happened in the bath -- an InterruptedSuicide.
** Actually there were two, with one as part of a longer scene and therefore even less naughty.
* Several chapters of ''Manga/{{Kochikame}}'' have Ryotsu and fellow police officers relaxing in a sentou and even flashback stories Ryotsu's boyhood life involving sentous.
* ''Manga/LoveHina'' makes this a reoccurring event (the onsen being a major feature of Hinata-so), and a regular reason for Keitaro to be the AccidentalPervert.
* The Jungle Bath in ''Manga/LoveMode''.
* Many times in ''Franchise/MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha'' with various members of the [[ImprobablyFemaleCast mostly female cast]], from Hayate and the Wolkenritter in ''A's'' to the Forwards in ''[=StrikerS=]''. There was even a brief Furo Scene with Nanoha's father in the first season, whose heavily scarred body serves as a ContinuityNod to ''VisualNovel/TriangleHeart3SweetSongsForever'', where we learn that he was a bodyguard in his "old job". And that "bodyguard" was a bit of an understatement.
* In ''Manga/{{Mahoromatic}}'', furo scenes provide occasional opportunity for plot development, as well as excuses to show off the assets of the primary female cast members. Note that, other than [[HotForStudent Shikijo-sensei]], only one major female cast member is over the age of sixteen: Mahoro appears to be between the ages of sixteen and twenty but is in fact [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld only nine]].
* ''Manga/MissMachiko'' has a few episodes with these scenes. Expect one or more male students (or even a teacher) to sneak a peek. One episode had a teacher and student flying in a kite and landing in a furo by accident. Of course, the eponymous Miss Machiko and her students were there at the time and the men (mostly) hid themselves.
* ''Manga/MonsterMusume'' has a lot of bath scenes, especially in earlier chapters. There's also a chapter where they visit a hot-spring resort run by and for liminals.
* A chapter of ''Manga/MyLovelyGhostKana'' is held at a public bath where Kana ponders the variety of bodies and souls that exist in the world, from the brand new to the very old. It's incredibly heartwarming.
* See this ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'' manga [[http://animebathscenewiki.com/images/thumb/a/a7/Naruto_ch_541.jpg/800px-Naruto_ch_541.jpg two page color spread]] featuring Naruto and his friends in two separate furos. Compare the girls chatting happily and relaxing, while the boys fight [[FemaleGaze and show far more skin than the girls.]]
* ''Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi'' has numerous scenes set in the Mahora baths, but chapter 235, set in a giant bathhouse in the Magic World, is the undisputed king of this. Soooo much SkinshipGrope. [[SerialEscalation So much.]]
** Anyone else get the feeling [[Creator/KenAkamatsu the writer]] is required to stick a certain amount of fanservice into any given arc? It was originally [[ExecutiveMeddling supposed]] to be a harem series, not the action he wanted. So bam, a [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment completely out of place]], over the top ''Fanservice'' chapter that immediately switches back to action.
** Then there's the bath scene in volume 3 when Negi's training in the mountains...
** And the later one with Asuna and Setsuna. Complete with FantasticArousal!
* ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'' has a scene of Asuka standing next to a bath in the nude. [[FanDisservice It's not sexually appealing]], since [[ShowerOfAngst she's going insane at the time]]. Her narcissism, xenophobia, and alienation towards Shinji and Misato (specifically), as well as her life and those within it (generally), air themselves quite harshly after she deliberately changes the bathwater, recognizing that it's been used previously by both Shinji and Misato. To quote her:
-->I hate Misato. And I hate Shinji. And I hate that First Child bitch, Rei! I hate my dad! I hate my mom! ''(clutches her belly in pain)'' Most of all, '''I HATE MYSELF!''' ''(kicks over a bucket)'' '''I HATE THIS! I CAN'T STAND IT ANYMORE! WHY DO I HAVE TO DO THIS? WHY ME?!'''
** Later on, she's found in a different bath in a run-down building with the water a redish colour. It could be that the tub is rusty and old, or it could be that she's [[{{Squick}} lying in a pool of her own blood]], implying either a [[DrivenToSuicide suicide attempt]] or [[AllPeriodsArePMS that time of the month]].
** There's also the scene featuring Shinji and Kaworu as they take a bath and talk...
** This trope is played straight at the ''onsen'' that Shinji, Misato, Asuka, and Pen-Pen attend following the defeat of Sandalphon, the Eighth Angel.
* Parodied in ''Manga/NinjaNonsense''. Shinobu is... enthusiastic about the prospect of bathing with Kaede. And of course, [[DirtyOldMan Onsokumaru]] attempts to join in and ends up tied to a pile of garbage. Not to mention what happens [[SkinshipGrope in his imagination]].
* There's one scene in ''Manga/OnePiece'' at the end of the Alabasta Arc, there's a scene of everyone enjoying in the baths of the palace (men and women divided by a wall) and all men decide to spy, the response: Nami's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gc0KjmZjuXg Happiness]] [[FanService Punch]].
* ''Manga/OutlawStar'''s 23rd episode is their HotSpringsEpisode, with the female members of the cast enjoying a number of onsen (the CuteMonsterGirl complaining that it wasn't hot enough and winding up in a ''lava pool''). At the same time, the episode's A-plot involves Gene climbing to the top of the mountain to get nude footage of the priestess whose temple was built there. When he arrives up at the top of the mountain, he finds himself on the snow-covered glass roof looking down on what is either a giant stripperiffic laundry or an odd sentou, filled with barely-dressed miko.
* Episode 7 of ''Literature/ThePetGirlOfSakurasou'' has several of the main characters taking a bath in a public bathhouse due to the plumbing being broken in their apartment. While the girls are busy doing SkinshipGrope, Jin tells a joke at Sorata's expense by loudly asking him which girl he's fantasizing about. Which causes Nanami to hurl a bucket at his head.
* Almost every episode of ''Anime/PleaseTwins'' contains one of these scenes.
* It happens in the ''Manga/PokemonAdventures'' manga, at the start(ish) of the 3rd story arc. Red, the protagonist, is looking for some mystic/magic/healing springs that can cure his hands, which are constantly shaking due to his encounter with the [[WellIntentionedExtremist ecoterrorist]] EliteFour in the last story arc. Of course, when he finally gets there, Sabrina is already bathing, but she doesn't seem to mind and he gets in, of course carefully facing the other way. Then, the very moment he looks at her, she stands up, declaring that her treatment is complete.
** Sapphire and Flannery enjoyed the Lavaridge hot springs and had a Gym Battle at the same time.
** The Sinnoh Trio conveniently found a bathhouse after they were sprayed by a Stunky. They smelled so bad that they had the baths to themselves.
* In its usual parodic fashion, ''Anime/PuniPuniPoemi'' shoves almost a dozen naked women into a small furo with a SceneryCensor -- each possible flash of a "naughty bit" is hidden by a rubber duck that just happens to get in the way of the camera ''every'' time.
* A fair amount of action in ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'' occurs in and around the Tendō home's furo as well as public baths elsewhere in Nerima. Considering the cast's InvoluntaryShapeshifting caused by exposure to hot/cold water, scenes in the furo are almost always because of the need to turn back to their usual form. If it's not, they'll end up changing before the story is over.
** The "waterproof soap" storyline has a ton of fanservice in the form of Shampoo, Ranma and Ryōga chasing each other around public baths in varying states of undress.
* Chibi-Usa and Usagi are shown squabbling in the bathtub at least twice in the ''Manga/SailorMoon'' anime.
** One early episode was noted for being censored by raising the water level to hide Usagi's cleavage when she was shown in the bath.
** FemmeFatale villainess Esmeraude from the R season has a hot bath scene as well before she goes in a mission.
** Usagi and her family also visit an Onsen during the first season. It's played for laughs with Shingo not wanting to join the family and later stealing Usagi's towel causing her to hide herself under the water. The other Senshi snow up during the inevitable monster attack and all 5 of them are shown enjoying the hot spring at the end of the episode.
* Similar goings-on occur in the first episode of ''Manga/SayonaraZetsubouSensei''. When Kafuka arrives in the classroom, it appears to be a large furo/indoor onsen. Filled with every female student in class. Every time anything naughty would be visible, however, there's both [[CensorSteam steam]] AND [[SceneryCensor Maeda-kun's face]] (the uncensored version removes Maeda-kun). It turns out to have been an ImagineSpot.
* In ''Manga/{{Saiyuki}}'''s bath house episode, Gojyo and Hakkai have one. Tenpou also gets one, in a bathtub (he's fallen asleep) in the ''Saiyuki Gaiden'' manga.
* The characters of ''Manga/{{Saki}}'' seems to get a lot of these in the anime version, complete with CensorSteam that [[BetterOnDVD get removed in the DVDs]].
* The last part of an OVA of ''Manga/SchoolRumble'', although if you want to watch it, bring some BrainBleach.
* Very common in Manga/{{Sekirei}}, which neatly combines fanservice with significant plot and character development. The [[{{Pun}} tit]]ular females do a majority of their serious conversations while relaxing in the baths.
* ''Anime/{{Simoun}}'' replaces the traditional furo scene with a number of scenes set in the shower instead. The scenes give the cast ample opportunity for skinship but interestingly contain remarkably little actual {{fanservice}}. The shower scenes are ubiquitous enough that every level of the ''Simoun'' video game features one as well.
* ''Anime/SkyGirls'' goes out of its way to ensure at least one bath scene in each episode.
* The various ''Manga/SteelAngelKurumi'' series show off their female leads' impossibly pneumatic figures with bathing scenes.
* Shows up a few times in the ''Manga/StrawberryMarshmallow'' manga. Chika seems too embarrassed to join them (though it's implied that she probably joins Nobue, her sister, under normal circumstances) and opts to take one later.
* In ''Anime/StreetFighterAlphaGenerations'', there is a furo scene between Sakura and her new friend Fuuka, the granddaughter of the OldMaster who owns the house Sakura and Ryu are staying in.
* Quite a few scenes in ''Anime/StrikeWitches'' revolve around the base bath.
* Relatively common in the ''Anime/TenchiMuyo'' storylines as well. In the TV series and the [=OVA=], the bathroom is a piece of alien tech to begin with. And, living up to the name, Tenchi isn't always in there (though he gets dragged in on occasion, or the girls walk in on him, or girls walk in on him after another girl dragged him in...).
* A central theme in ''Manga/ThermaeRomae'', which also has the equivalent Roman bath scenes -- though without the fan service unless you like handsome young Roman male bodies.
* Averted in ''Anime/TheTowerOfDruaga'', where Fatina is only briefly shown to be bathing for a few brief seconds, and even then only from a distance, splashing around. The scene quickly cuts to Kally complaining about the noise she's making, after which Team Leader Neeba gives him permission to [[AccidentalPervert "take a peek"]]. Kally responds to this incredulously.
* ''Manga/WanderingSon'' has a few. The first one is to illustrate how different Nitori is from the other boys and to give some insight into some of the male characters. The second is used for talks.
* ''Manga/WildRock'': The ''Child Rock'' chapter features [[DotingParent doting uncles]] Yuuen and Emba spending some quality bathing time in the lake with baby Nava.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* In ''Fanfic/PiracyTheGeneticPirateOpera'', America is, unfortunately, walking by a bathhouse as the Supernovas and Capricorn Pirates are using it to wash themselves after their food fight. After some InnocentInnuendo is said and America sees England's car, he runs away from the bathhouse.
* Has happened at least three times in ''Fanfic/KyonBigDamnHero''. [[spoiler:First with Kyon and Tsuruya, then with Kyon, Tsuruya, and Nagato, and finally with Kyon and Haruhi.]]
* In ''Fanfic/PokemonCrossing'', Sable warms up a furo for the protagonists so she can sew up their torn clothes. The boys take up her offer and spend a good hour soaking in the furo.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Animation]]
* In ''Anime/TheGirlWhoLeaptThroughTime'' Makoto can be seen thinking things over in her bathtub quite a few times.
* ''Anime/MyNeighborTotoro'' features a furo scene, with the father taking a bath with his two daughters. This scene was allegedly considered disturbing when the film was originally released in the US, despite its complete lack of sexual content by Japanese standards.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* ''Film/AustinPowers'' has one of these with Italian secretary "Alotta Fagina".
* ''Film/{{Bonchi}}'': Kikuji sends his three mistresses, Ponta, Ofuku, and Hisako, to a remote monastery to protect them from American bombs. Not long after the war is over he comes to the monastery to retrieve them and is surprised to see that they are all taking a bath together. It's pretty sexy, as they're all naked and splashing about and touching in a very sapphic way, but as they chatter about what they want to do with their lives he suddenly realizes that he doesn't want to have anything to do with any of them anymore. He turns around and leaves unseen, and cuts off contact with all three for good.
* A rare, non-sexual Western example happens between a man and a woman in ''Film/Buffalo66''.
* ''Film/DeathValley'' has a bathtub scene featuring the main villainess that's played for fanservice, including a ToplessnessFromTheBack as she steps out of her bath.
* Film/JamesBond and KGB agent Pola Ivanova share a bath together at an oriental bathhouse in San Francisco in ''Film/AViewToAKill''.
* In the ''wuxia'' film ''Film/TheKnightOfKnights'', the rescued DamselInDistress Lin Hong-yu had a bathing scene in an impromptu bath tub in a cave... where right outside, lies the corpses of several dead enemies.
* ''Film/PlayingWithFire'': Not a furo per say, but [[TheProtagonist Cindy]] does decide to take a dip in the house's hot tub in one scene. [[spoiler:She's still in it when the police detective shows up, much to her shock.]]
* Crosses with BatheHerAndBringHerToMe when Yuhuan the gorgeous harem girl is given a "lotus bath" in ''Film/PrincessYangKweiFei'' before being brought into the presence of the emperor.
* ''Film/{{Wonder Woman|2017}}'' has one with the very male Steve Trevor taking a bath in a glowy subterranean hot spring on Themyscira only for Diana to unexpectedly walk in on him. Being a NiceGuy and a gentleman, he's appropriately embarrassed.
* ''Film/{{Yumeji}}'': One random scene has Hikono and her maid, both topless in a bathtub, as the latter is pouring water to wash the former off.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
* Creator/JamesMichener's Korean War novel ''The Bridges Of Toko-Ri'' has a scene where an American couple, using a Japanese hot bath for the first time, are [[CultureClash taken utterly aback]] by an entire Japanese family coming in, bowing respectfully, then undressing and getting in the communal tub....
* ''Literature/GirlsKingdom'' has a furo scene at least [[OnceAnEpisode twice a book]], almost always with Misaki and Himeko bathing together with descriptions of them washing each other, chatting, and occasionally torturing each other with the shower head (specifically Himeko targeting Misaki's ticklish side with it). The narrative likes to use these for exposition about the school and whatever's going on, comedy, and shipping fuel.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* Sentai in general will often have at least one episode that involves a sentou during the course of a season.
* Characters from ''Series/KamenRiderKiva'' would often be shown in the tub.
** Funnily enough, though, it was always the male characters... [[HoYay sometimes two or more of them together.]]
* Shinnosuke, Takeru, and Takeru's younger self all share one in ''Film/KamenRiderXKamenRiderGhostAndDriveSuperMovieWarGenesis''.
* Heart gets one as something of a BigLippedAlligatorMoment in ''Series/KamenRiderDrive Saga: Kamen Rider Heart''.
* British celebrity chef/sex symbol Creator/NigellaLawson has done this at least once: while waiting for something to cook in the oven, she pours herself a glass of wine and, just as the screen goes into the shows' trademarked soft-focus-mode, slips out of her clothes and into a tub.
* ''Series/{{Highlander}}'' has one in a flashback in 'The Samurai'. Duncan got in without realizing he should wash first.
* ''Series/TalesOfTheGoldMonkey''. Princess Koji always seemed to be having a hot bath [[VillainessesWantHeroes whenever Jake Cutter stopped by for a chat]]. Except for the time when she insisted that Jake and his friends have the hot tub, and then [[FemmeFatale threatened to empty a bowl of piranhas into it]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Music]]
* Music/{{Yoshiki|Hayashi}} shows that [[http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=14155082&albumID=159338&imageID=22521533 it is possible to combine a furo scene and a guro scene.]] Not safe for work.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games]]
* ''VideoGame/RivieraThePromisedLand'' offers two. They even replace the normal character portraits with nude ones (with a full range of expressions, and of course BarbieDollAnatomy). For the first one, it's theoretically possible to stumble into it without knowing what you're doing, but the second one is guarded by a ''GiantMecha'' that you have to take down, so it'd be hard to argue your innocence there. [[spoiler:They also serve as a ruse to prevent you from finding the InfinityPlusOneSword, which is found the very last time you can possibly access that location.]]
* The ''VideoGame/{{Suikoden}}'' series is known for having funny and/or character-developing bath scenes.
* ''VideoGame/TalesSeries'':
** ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss'' has an entire set of costumes related to the bath episode. Actually wearing them into a fight nets you hilarious skits, including one where a character blames the fact that they're fighting in swimwear on mind control.
** ''VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia'': This game and [[VideoGame/TalesOfSymphoniaDawnOfTheNewWorld its sequel]] include furo scenes, and also provide new costumes for the characters. Both times, [[TheHero Lloyd]] is made to look like a complete pervert, but he's more of a [[AccidentalPervert victim of circumstance]].
* The ''Franchise/{{Persona}}'' series is also well-known for its bath scenes, although those are more of the HotSpringsEpisode variant.
* ''VideoGame/RaidouKuzunohaVsTheSoullessArmy'' has the public bath house variant -- sort of. It's the local {{yakuza}}'s hangout, and Raidou needs some information the boss has. There is a (player-controlled) naked fight scene, with an altered camera angle and less 3D movement for censorship purposes.
* The furo scene in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX2'', even though they were in bathing suits. And then later on you can view the onsen through Shinra's Sphere thingy, and there's all these people taking a bath, most in clothes, and also some chocobos...
* The ''VideoGame/RuneFactory'' games typically have a bath house and bath scenes.
* ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles3'': When they get back from their first mission, the team goes to the bath house to relax. Absolutely no one finds anything strange or interesting about mixed-gender bathing; Lanz and Eunie have an argument while buck-naked, and no one cares. That includes the camera -- aside from liberal use of CensorSteam, the entire scene is shot as if the characters were fully clothed, [[ShowDontTell completely selling]] the fact nobody sees anything significant about each others' naked bodies.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:VisualNovels]]
* There are a couple such scenes in ''VisualNovel/ShikkokuNoSharnoth'', most notably when Angie visits Mary's flat and they take a bath together. Despite her bath being so tiny only one person can fit in, and only just.
* ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' has this happen twice in the Fate route when Shirou accidentally walks in on Saber. The first time, Saber doesn't mind, as she's been raised as a man her entire life she doesn't think anything of it, though Shirou freaks out. The second time, after their relationship has progressed some, she is embarrassed, not out of modesty, but rather because she thinks her muscular and toned warrior's body ([[InformedAttribute that's what she claims anyway, the artwork makes her look very slim and feminine]]) would be unattractive to Shirou.
* ''VisualNovel/HarvestDecember'' contains a rare example where the men are actually invited into the women's bath[[note]]Just the hero at first, who refuses to go along with it unless his best friend can also join in, causing him to be briefly MistakenForGay.[[/note]].

* ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive's'' anime parody ShowWithinAShow "The Lucky Bunny Bounty Show" had a furo scene [[http://egscomics.com/?date=2002-11-14 here]] involving the eponymous character visiting a females only bathhouse which a clueless guy keeps mistaking for a unisex one.
* ''Webcomic/LetsSpeakEnglish'': The comic [[https://www.marycagle.com/letsspeakenglish/62-hot-in-here "Hot in Here"]] depicts {{Creator/Mary|Cagle}}'s first time using the Japanese bathtub in her apartment, and she [[DiscussedTrope comments]] that in an anime, this would be where she goes to "get all contemplative." She proceeds to contemplate:
-->''"...This'll technically be the first time I've drawn myself naked."''
* Parodied in ''Webcomic/MegaTokyo'', where Ping needs to visit a [[http://megatokyo.com/strip/412 public bath]] and Miho needs to show her how it works, with Piro and Largo in a nearby room. Piro's anti-conscience actually plans to use this to drill the concept of fanservice into his head, except by the time he gets the chance, the whole thing has ''already taken place''. ''Offscreen''.
* A non-fanservice example occurs in the ''Webcomic/MobPsycho100'' anime, Mob is depicted looking at his own reflection in the bath as he [[DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife ponders on what he wants to do with his life.]]
* ''Webcomic/TowerOfGod'' suddenly decided to have some characterization in a bathhouse on the 20th floor.
* ''Webcomic/RedString'' includes a very rare onsen scene that not only involves a traditional mixed-gender bath but is played fairly seriously and realistically, not primarily for {{Fanservice}} or titillating humor.

* Done a few times with Yumi Ishiyama of ''WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko''. Although set in France, her family's house is equipped with a typical Japanese furo.
* A rare, non-fanservicey example is Phoebe Heyerdahl relaxing in a furo after her fencing match with her father, while still in her fencing outfit. Justified as ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold'' is a kid's show.
