While the [[TropeNamers Trope Namer]] of MamaBear comes from North American grizzly bears protecting their cubs, the trope in general is about a mother who is protective of her kids. LaidBackKoala and [[YowiesAndBunyipsAndDropBearsOhMy Drop Bears]] don't go here as koalas are not actual bears, but rather marsupials (with drop bears being a mythical creature).
