1	This is when a character leaves/abandons someone that they were close to, maybe out of an obligation, personal reasons, or not by their own choice.[[note]]like perhaps they died or were kidnapped for example.[[/note]] Maybe a character is a LivingEmotionalCrutch or a MoralityChain to them. Maybe they have implied romantic feelings for them. Maybe they were a pair of TrueCompanions, or family. In some cases, the person left behind [[BelatedLoveEpiphany may not even have realized their feelings until the other left.]]

3	In any case, the character who is abandoned for whatever reason goes crazy after the other leaves them, so this is more like the end result of a character's LivingEmotionalCrutch leaving them.

However, being riddled with trauma from fighting a violent war and seeing his ideals and purpose challenged time and time again over the centuries has torn at his ability to keep ''himself'' in check. As circumstances seem more and more futile, he grows increasingly aggressive and unhinged, eventually deeming himself the [[AGodAmI "Time Lord Victorious"]] and the master of the laws of time. Only after he attempts to break said laws and sees them sharply set back on track does he realize that he's gone too far.

She lampshades it, telling him, "You're going to be alone now, and you're very bad at that." The Doctor is sent into a mechanical castle where he is left alone with his grief for [[spoiler: four and a half ''billion'' years]]. By the time he finally escapes, he is completely off the rails and ready to face down everything from a gunship to the Lord President of Gallifrey, kill a fellow Time Lord, and endanger the very existence of all of space and time in order to get Clara back.

When Abigail left Henry, saying she needed a little time to think, Henry became convinced something had happened to her when three months went by with no word. By the time Abe visited him several months after that, Henry had fallen apart completely, his apartment a MessOfWoe housing a StringTheory StalkerShrine trying to track her down. It's also implied Henry has been [[DrowningMySorrows drowning his sorrows]], both by Abe having to pull him off the floor and put him to bed, and by Abe commenting in the pilot that Henry quit drinking 28 years before.

Case in point, one perp gets away by climbing back down a fire-escape that Monk is clinging to half-way up because he's petrified of heights and froze in place while chasing the guy.

One of the things he did was to seal away the spirits of the four giants; this was done partially to prevent them from stopping Skull Kid's planned [[ColonyDrop moon drop]], but it was heavily driven by his resentment towards their perceived abandonment.

It's implied that some of his irrational behavior, such as his threat against Queen's friends, is due to his anger at her defection.]]

93	* Suna Silentstrike in ''VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft'' is noticeably distraught when her husband Lin, who she refers to as the "light of [her] world," goes missing after an attack by the yaungol. When she discovers he's been killed, she goes into a rage, which makes it easy for her to be possessed by the Sha of Hatred and turn on the player character and the Shado-Pan, who she blames for not doing enough to protect Lin. Eventually, the player is forced to kill her as well.
94	* Akira Nishikiyama in ''VideoGame/Yakuza1'' was truly devoted to his sworn brother Kazuma Kiryu, father figure Kazama, and their mutual friends, Reina and Yumi. He was in love with the latter, but after he murdered Sohei Dojima and Kiryu took the fall for him, she disappeared. He likens their loss to losing a piece of his life. His situation was made no better by becoming boss of his own family, the disrespect from both his underlings and superiors causing him to nurse incredible resentment towards Kazama and especially Kiryu. By the time Kiryu is out of prison, Nishiki has long since snapped and become a cold, ruthlessly effective mob boss, near-totally hostile towards his former friends.
