----
!! This work contains examples of the following tropes:
* AngryCheekPuff:
** Mea does that on some occasions. A notable instance was early in WN Volume 6, when she ran into Abel and Fleur, with the former blushing from looking at the latter's face. She stormed in a huff shortly, to Fleur's amusement.
** Zolomonia puffs up her cheeks in anger when Peter asks her about Abel, to illustrate how much she still thinks about him despite her denying him being her 'business'.
* ArrestedForHeroism: Abel and everyone in Elia's carriage (Mea, Elia, ) get surrounded by Lark's private army on their way to Palgas village and are taken to Russell village instead. It is then subverted, as Euris is just begging Abel to let the army, who are clearly afraid of him, escort him to Baron Lark for questioning.. about [[spoiler: the collapse of Altamir's Tower]].
* BehemothBattle: [[spoiler: Goddess Kudor vs Sky God Silfheim]].
* BigBrotherAttraction: Giselle, to her brother's troubles.
* BigGood: ... provided that , and .
* BirdsOfAFeather: Abel and Mea. Both ran away from their respectable villages for their own circumstances (ArrangedMarriage for Abel, AllOfTheOtherReindeer for Mea), rode the same carriage and later TrueCompanions.
* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler: Abel defeats Count Julem and the Sky God Silfheim, rescues Mea from their clutches, puts a stop to the threat of a war against the Dinrat Kingdom thanks to the effort of Peter and other influential men of the other kingdoms, and he and Mea move to the Marren village where they marry and build a family together, after Abel regains his honor in the village, and his parents and sister accepts Mea into the family. However, Abel had to let two of the count's cohorts leave scot-free, who promises they'll be back and startover.. long after Abel dies from old age! That is, if they actually manage to evade the Goddess Kudor, who is hunting for them]].
* BloodStainedLetter: The fifth arc, "Disease in Palgas Village", opens with one. The Pogue bird carrying it was killed with magic, and the letter reads: "You'll be killed".
* BlownAcrossTheRoom: Happens during Abel's fight with Levi. After Abel's spell, "Abel Ball", connects with Levi's thrown spear from sky high. The spear's throw momentum was miraculously cancelled, but the resulting explosion was so bright and so loud Abel couldn't see or hear anything for a short while, and the blast's wind threw him off a distance from the ground.
* BondVillainStupidity:
** In Kudor's Great Temple, [[spoiler: Peter and Myunhi betray Abel and capture him and Mea, using the latter as a hostage, but hold off on killing them to force Abel to check for any last-minute surprises or traps, even going far to resurrect the sleeping Goddess herself and using her massive tentacles to kill the helpless kid, rather than say... offing him with their own hands]]. [[spoiler: It get deconstructed as Kudor breaks free from Peter's control before Abel comes to any harm, and gives Peter and Myunhi their just dessert, then reconstructed as Abel saves them from the enraged goddess]]. Then it gets really out of hand when [[spoiler: Kudor challenges Abel to a fight, and Peter ends up assisting the latter]].
-->: Geez …… This is a bit shameful to say, but I’m glad I put off killing you for a while.
* BrotherSisterIncest: The entire Marren Clan is a result of, and practicing this, including Abel and Giselle's parents! But it's implied that some did break the tradition, like Norman Karlco, who stole his then-wife from her brother.
* CallARabbitASmeerp:
** The Marren tribe's carved wooden dolls they use in practicing their magic are called "Ortems". They also look like miniture Totem heads.
** The Fogg creature species is the world's equivalent to frogs.
* ChaseFight: Abel's fight with Brian Bond. Abel is on a carriage running away from a battle junkie WorldsBestWarrior on his HellishHorse, than on his foot. It didn't last too long.
* ClaimedByTheSupernatural: Forming a summoning contract with a spirit beast, a demon or gives a sigil to the contractee. It's like a PowerTattoo that is hidden until it glows upon activation.
* CleanUpTheTown: The Fage territory was on the verge of collapsing under the weight of several problems threatening it livelihood, and been like this for 2 years. All that changed when Abel came to the territory, seeking a place to live and hide, and solved every single problem and captured the mastermind behind it, in the span of !
* CoolSword: Abel's sword, Lapides Sword. Forged from a magic ore obtained from Zeshum Ruins, and houses the soul of the demon Lapidestatoa, after Abel obtained its summoning crest. It can fly, extends its blade after having magic power flow through it, can fight threats by itself, regenerate its blade when broken and most importantly, Abel can carry it with him.
* CorruptChurch: The Levi church of the Riveras Kingdom. Whose members engage in [[spoiler: bio-magic, weather-manipulation magic to cause drought, summoning demons and spirit monsters to terrorize villages and spreading diseases then selling diluted cure for their benefits, and execute dangerous individuals to their plans through frame ups and Devil's Trial]].
* CrystalDragonJesus: The religions mentioned in the story, Kudorism and Leviism, both have aspects taken from Christianity, such as scriptures, bishops, ministers, nuns, churches and monasteries. Things gets out of hand, [[spoiler: with the gods of each religion being PhysicalGods that exist in the story's present, and Levi slowly turning his religion into a ReligionOfEvil, and attacking the Fage territory]].
* CurbStompBattle: When Abel doesn't hand them like candy, either he's observing his opponents out of interest, or that's his opponent IS really strong.
* DeceasedFallGuyGambit: Abel pulls a fast one on Baron Lark, to cover [[spoiler: his involvement in destroying Altamir's Tower]], by pinning the blame on the High Elf priest Devin and spinning a story of how he fought a very heated battle against Abel, took Altamir with him, and told him that Alfheim is planning an invasion. When Lark showed skepticism, Abel showed him the Elf's vestment.. and the empty cup of Amrita the Collector had with him, completing the lie. [[spoiler: It also helps that Devin was killed by the Collector and was left inside the tower, but Abel didn't know that]].
* DecoyAntagonist: The members of “Balancer of the Scale of Time”, in “Resurrection of Goddess Kudor”, are just a ContrivedCoincidence [[spoiler: to hide Peter's true intentions]] from Abel.
* DenouementEpisode: [[spoiler: "The End of the Story", taking place a week after the God Silfheim's demise, deals with Abel and Mea having to report to Peter and Goddess Kudor of what happened and the possible ramifications for Abel's actions and existence, hearing of the new developments in the Fage territory, and ending with Abel and Mea bidding everyone their goodbyes, as they leave to the Marren village, on Elia's carriage, leading to the epilogue]].
* DeployableCover: Abel can create a metal called Haydeem Magi Metal from the spirits in the air, to protect himself and attack as well. It dissipates after 10-minutes.
* DiabolusExMachina: saves Abel and Mea from a HostageSituation, beats their captors into submission, has a friendly, if a bit awkward, chat with Abel, and then [[spoiler: sees Mea, and decides on killing her]], forcing Abel to intervene, and fight his strongest opponent yet!
* DivineConflict: The age of Mythology ended when the Goddess Kudor defeated the four elemental gods.
* DoAnythingRobot: Abel can make many things with his wooden Ortems. Ranging from: farming Ortems, alarm clocks, monster container, Battle Ortems, [[spoiler: Bodyguard Ortems, Giant Flying Fortress Quetzalcóatl]].
** Asura 5000 is a six armed Ortem, that can carry Abel inside, throw its voice, intimidate monsters, detect evil intentions, and teleport like any Ortem summoned by Abel.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything:
** The Doom clan considers the magic crystal on the forehead the symbol and pride of their tribe. Losing it is "more serious than a noticeable scar in the face", and who did lose theirs will be labeled 'stoneless', looked down upon and ostracized. .
** Abel's confrontation with Melzef and his men and its escalation in the manga, feels similar to a youth standing up to his girlfriend against her abusive father who is trying to take her home against her will, complete with Abel calling off Melzef's poor treatment of his daughter.
** Following the above entry, Mea and Abel try getting Melzef to back off, by [[spoiler: Mea threatening to kill herself]].
* DungeonBypass: Abel, wanting to see how far the ceiling is in the Tower of Altamir's warped space, shoots a fire ball spell at it. The result created a hole in the ceiling, that preached the floors to the 3rd floor, greatly disrupted Altamir's spatial magic, stunned the creatures of the 2nd floor, drained the water from third floor and killed the half-fish Sea Marine monsters lurking there.
* DyingTown: The Fage Territory when Abel moved to it. With the Dragon Nalgarn preventing anyone from leaving the place, a mysterious drought depleted their harvests, harmful weeds preventing them from planting, and a church of a neighboring kingdom has set up shop offering salvation and free water, converting the town to its religion, and the disgruntled townsfolk throw fertilized eggs on their Baron's mansion.
* EleventhHourSuperpower: Abel doesn't gain powers near the climax, he reveals them during his battle against the FinalBoss:
** [[spoiler: The wooden dragon Quetzalcoatl, built by the Fage territory's alchemy division using lots of large Ortems, and funded by Peter. Abel uses it to fly to and infiltrate Alfheim, where the FinalBattle commences]].
** [[spoiler: Abel, again with the help of Zolomonia, creates a variation of Levi's Spear's ability “Fate Distortion”, allowing him to create multiple "instances" of the spear hitting the target at the same time!!]]
** [[spoiler: After everything else failed, Abel reveals one thing his opponent didn't take into account: he made his own physical abilities-enhancing magic! This allowed him to continue fighting, after his opponent locked him out from using magic!]].
** Three words: [[spoiler: “Go! Abel Cannon!”]].
* Elopement: Abel and Mea were mistaken as one by Elia.
* FakeUltimateHero: Invoked by Abel with Gaston Garand. To keep the jealous and suspicious adventurers from the Adventurers Support Center off his case, he has Gaston take the credits for his kills, while Abel keeps the rewards.
* FatherIWantToMarryMyBrother: Invoked by Zelrut, Abel's father, with Giselle. Leaving her in Abel's care whenever he wanted them to grow closer. Her mother even
* FloatingContinent: The sky country of Alfheim, home of the High-Elves.
* Foreshadowing:
** Chapter 20 of the manga. The portrait that Mea was looking at in Asshim's library, depict the Great Goddess Kudor. Who is set to appear on the seventh volume of the novel.
** "It’s unusual to see the Marren tribe and the Doom tribe getting along so well."
* GentleTouchVsFirmHand: After Altamir.. no, Alta is introduced to the Fage territory's Alchemy division as an instructor, she instantly becomes popular with the division members. Despite being a SternTeacher and prone to BrutalHonesty, her expectations of her students are far lenient than Abel. She is also more open for questions, unlike Abel, who tells them to hit the books instead. Abel becomes painfully aware of this, as the disgruntled members make sure to voice their hopes for Altamir to replace him, while he's close by.
* GeometricMagic: Magic is performed by drawing magic circles in the air using light letters. An advanced mage can manipulate his opponent's own magic circle to be used againt them, or 'encrypt' his own magic circle to prevent that from happening to him.
* HeroicBSOD:
** Abel momentarly suffers one, as he comes to realize that [[spoiler: Kudor, who tanked everything he threw at her and isn't inconvenienced the slightest, was holding back on him in their entire fight]]! He stops fighting and almost accept his defeat.. but then snaps out of it once IGotYouCovered help him and hold her down.
** He goes through another one, [[spoiler: after Mea was kidnapped by Count Julem, with the reason that his impulsiveness and naivety were what put her in the villain's hands]].
** Another one when he was told that [[spoiler: Mea's soul was crushed beneath Moebius' soul]]. [[spoiler: It was a lie]].
* HiddenElfVillage: Deconstructed with the Marren tribe. Thanks to staying in their village for a hundred years with no war or conflict, the current generation have became so weak and fragile, afraid of the thought of leaving their home, and became such FishOutOfWater when they needed to leave the village. Their Chieftain, the oldest living mage who participated in the last war, is only allowed to leave for emergencies or summons from the king. Being the "Secret Weapon" of their Kingdom should at least warrant the need to learn about the world outside.
* HiddenVillain: reveals himself in the 8th volume of the story. And on the final volume, [[spoiler: his cohorts reveal themselves one by one, in front of Abel]].
* HornedHumanoid: The Doom tribe, Mea included, sports Ram-horns on their heads.
* HowWeGotHere: The beginning of chapter 78 in the webnovel, featuring Abel and Mea sitting in an auditorium, while the crowd is cheering for a man named Gaston entering the arena. Before we even know who he is and what are they doing there.
* HumansByAnyOtherName: The Norcs.
* HumiliationConga: Abel subjects Icarus Izaida to an epic one to destroy his control over the Fage territory. Since he was a ManipulativeBastard who impedes others' attempts at fixing the territory, he deserved it.
* KangarooCourt: The Levi Church's Devil's Trial. Upon suspecting someone of being a demon, he/she is arrested without inspection or alibi, and is torched with a special flame made by the God Levi himself. If the suspect burns to death, he's a demon. And if he's unharmed by the flame, he isn't. You can't question if it is the real deal or not, because you would be insulting their god. .
* LegoGenetics: How Abel and Rinoa's alchemy faction created the "Ortem Gourd" plant. Using magic and special soil made by Abel, they mixed a perkin (a pumpkin-like plant) with a magic grass called Hydra, a plant known for its abnormal growth and digestive system. The result was a plant that grows fast, bears fruit, and can eats the magic weed invading the territory for nourishment. Good, wait.. didn't he mention early on that a Hydra could grow into a ManEatingPlant? Several mages were bitten by failed attempts and were rushed to a healing center, and one large plant actually got the drop on Abel, only for Mea to save him.
* LiterallyShatteredLives: Discussed In the manga. When Margus shoots fire on Abel, Mea and Maizen, they hide behind Gaston's petrified body while it takes the hit. Maizen worries about using Gaston's body as a shield, but Abel assures him he'll be fine as long as he's petrified, but if he loses his shape, he'll become 'something horrendous' when he turns back. The panel's background is pixelated.
* LivingLegend: few of them: The Worst Witch Altamir, The Collector and Bishop Peter.
* LostSuperweapon: The Arrow of God, .
* LyingToProtectYourFeelings: When he was asked about him defeating Nalgarn in the Fage territory, Abel lies to Euris and tells her that Nalgarn was already weakened and close to death when it attacked them, leading her to believe that her failed attack helped. Mea then asks Abel ICanExplain how he's is going to explain the pile of heads he left outside the territory.
* MagicalForeignWords: All the spells' chants in the webnovel's original website are written in Assamese.
* MeanwhileBackAtThe: Happens in every story arc. First used to show the current affairs in the Marren tribe after Abel left, and later serves to show how the Abel Search party are faring, usually at the end of each arc.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: Abel gains some valuable additions to his arsenal, to name a few:
** [[spoiler: After his battle with Kudor, Abel gets Kudor's summoning crest]]!
** His prized Battle Ortem, Asura 5000, gets upgraded to Babylon 8000. [[spoiler: Said upgrade happened after it was Weapon in the battle with Kudor. It boasts much enhanced strength and durability than the original, inforced using spirit bodies from Din Eater monsters]].
** Abel, with help from Zolomonia, learns to use Levi's Spear ability “Fate Distortion”, making it alway hit the target in mind, even by throwing the spear nowhere close to the target!
* MistakenForCouple: Abel and Mea to some people. Abel will deny the assumptions and Mea doesn't mind, but she's embarrassed about it.
* Megamanning: How Abel obtained the Spear of Levi.
* Mundangerous: Abel Belek, TheArchmage in ChildMage's clothing, capable of taking down evil sorcerers, demons and other threats that no ordinary adventurer would dare fighting... can be incapacitated with the something like the common cold or a fever, which hits him harder thanks to his PatheticallyWeak body. He often jumps to the conclusion that one of his enemies cursed him.
** PlayedForDrama in the Light Novel's extra chapter, “Libera, Queen of Flowers”, where the Fage territory is besieged by a disease caused by the titular demon's pollen, that slowly drains magic from sorcerers, and Abel is so sick he can't move and even considers writing his will. This forces Lark's private army to mobilize to fight Libera themselves without him, and even Euris speculates they may not survive but marches away leaving a sad Lark behind. [[spoiler: Abel was actually suffering from a Regular Cold, and Lark takes him with him to help defeat the demon.]]
* MyopicArchitecture: The second challenge in Kudor's Cathedral: a door that'll only open by solving a puzzle called "the Sun and Moon Din's Game". A puzzle known to have taken the Earth God Garuja a hundred day to solve, cannot be solved with brute force, and under a time limit, and countermeasures to prevent destroying the walls. How Abel got past it? [[spoiler: He shot an incomplete "Abel Ball" spell at Rupel and Darras to intimidate them, only for it to curve, and hit the side of the door, destroying the force field implemented, and blows up a hole past the door, destroying the puzzle as well]].
* NeverWinTheLottery: Averted. When Abel and Mea went to the arena to see Gaston's fight with Brian, he noticed that the reception desk was selling gambling tickets, with that fight being the most popular, with most of the bets placed in favor of Gaston's winning. Knowing how the battle will most likely end, Abel bets on Brian's winning. Easiest 1.6 Million Gold he ever got.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Members of the Noir tribe, full or half, stop aging at certain point, and stay looking like youths.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: PlayedForLaughs. when they reached the Tower of Altamir, Elia asks Abel how many floors will he ascends before turning back. Abel, fearing that reaching the top will undo the seal on the witch trapped there and just been scolded for putting Mea in danger last time, answers that he'll take it in moderation and turn back before things get ugly. Mea is surprised by this and checks his forehead for a fever or a cold.
-->Abel: “N, no, it’s not …… What? Did I say something so funny?” \
Mea: “Because Abel, you’ve been looking forward to researching the witch’s tower for a while now, and for you to simply leave halfway…… Normally, you would have said you were going to take the whole tower home with you.”
* OriginsEpisode: “A Certain Story of the Doom Tribe's Past”, a set of chapters exploring Mea's birth, her childhood, life in the Doom tribe and ending with her leaving the settlement on Jaime's carriage.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: A demon is a conglomerate of spirits that were damaged, distorted or decayed over hundreds of years, now morphed into a new being. The demon should have no memories or traits from the spirits forming it.
* OutOfContextEavesdropping: Before introducing Abel to Baron Lark, Euris goes to knock on Lark's office door but stops to eavesdrop when she hears noises. She then hears a loud voice of a girl telling Lark to stop, followed by Lark's voice berating her for defying him and ordering her to stay put. Euris kicks the door open, to find [[spoiler: Baron Lark trying to hang himself and his maid, Marias, trying to stop him]].
* PleaseDontLeaveMe: Mea, whenever she thinks she's TheLoad to Abel. Also when Abel wanted to pay his debt to her.
* PracticalCurrency: The Marren clan usually barter and trade goods for business, but can substitute with 'incense-smoke leaves'. This allows the Karlco family that cultivate it to monopolize it's value and control the village's trades. Abel then introduces his high-quality brand leaves with lower prices and excellent taste, plummeting its value, and leaving them for poor.
* PragmaticVillainy: [[spoiler: One of the sole survivors from Count Julem's group decides on letting Abel and Mea leave in peace after their plan fell apart and three of them were killed. With his reasons being that antagonizing Abel any further, even if they succeed in killing him while he's exhausted, would leave them an easy prey to Kudor. Instead, they're better off hiding from Kudor and let time deal with Abel, since something like thousands to ten-thousands years is nothing to them]]. [[spoiler: Abel is fine with these terms, even the part where they're playing tag with Kudor]].
* ProtagonistCenteredMorality:
** Abel is willing to spare, the villain, even forgive people who tricked him, betrayed him, even tried to kill him for selfish, petty or evil reasons, with his reason usually them being kind or caring to him and Mea even if it was part of their trick. (Making a high elf fall from large height is okay, letting a WellIntentionedExtremist gets his just dessert is a no no, both took his friend hostage and tried to kill him while he's helpless, anyone?)
** He brings a member of Levi's church, to the Fage territory after defeating him, and has him join the alchemist division under the cover that he has amnesia, because he found a kindred spirit in him, and said member began seeing him as a god.
** He tries to invoke GoAndSinNoMore, [[spoiler: on Shame herself]]! [[spoiler: Despite him calling her the one "he hates the most" from Count Julem's group for: tricking and betraying him and Mea, kidnapping the latter and leaving the former to be killed, siccing Moebius on him, etc. Abel doesn't want to kill her, stating that it was her and her cohorts' plan the reason he and Mea ever met]]. [[spoiler: It also counts as subversion, as Abel was trying to dissuade her from killing him, as they're both exhausted from the FinalBattle]].
** That's nothing. See him [[spoiler: operating a weapon to defeat Silfheim, that could've also BLEW UP the whole world]]!! His justification:
--->[[spoiler: Abel: To be honest, I was thinking that there was not much difference between me and Mea dying and the world blowing up.]]
* ReincarnateInAnotherWorld: The high schooler is born again as Abel Belek, after being hit by truck, when he pushed his female underclassman off the way.
* RescueArc: In the final arc, [[spoiler: Abel has to rescue Mea who was abducted by Count Julem, before she's used as a vessel for Moebius, The Ancient Destroyer]].
* RidingTheBomb: Abel pulls this off in his fight [[spoiler: against Kudor]], with BFS Levi's Spear. The reason he was on that spear was so he could pull off an ISurrenderSuckers, and use the spear's "Fate Distortion" ability to be teleported along with the spear close to , and jumps to back to pull his last move.
* ScrewYouElves: Elves do exists in the setting, but they are arrogant and prideful, see other races as an eyesore or cattle, sore losers and only accept life when it goes their way. And then you learn that .
* ShoutOut:
** Amrita, the elixir made by Alfheim's High-Elves. The name was taken straight from Myth/HinduMythology.
** At the end of Resurrection of Goddess Kudor, Abel fabricates a story about an anomaly that caused the sky to turn red temporarily. Then he names a matter in the sky that refracts the sunlight as Rayleigh. Considering that he was fighting an EldritchAbomination whose mere appearance caused the phenomenon, his past interest in the occult was put to use.
* SickEpisode: Abel becomes bedridden with a cold, with Mea taking care of him, right before his WizardDuel with Icarus. He got only himself to blame for that. He however, does go to the duel despite Mea's objection, after Euris promises him that she'll convince Lark to approve of his petition to use Bio-magic whether he wins or lose.
* SternChase: ZigZagged. Abel and Mea are forced to flee Lomarn city when they hear of members of their respective tribe looking for them. However, they quickly settle in the Fage territory, a land near the kingdom's borders, and they forget the danger until near the story's climax. Both tribes' search parties have to rely on gathering information and listening to rumors about their target to plan their next move. In addition, the Marren's search party are such a FishOutOfWater and end up wasting more time trying to adapt to the city, adding more to Abel's already long head start.
** The manga however [[spoiler: eds this, as an explosion of light on one night quickly leads the Doom tribe to the duo's location]].
* StockLightNovelHero: Subverted. A normal high Schooler is reborn as a magician in a hidden village of magicians, who build high amounts of magical power capable of decimating almost everything from years of hardwork and training, but suffers as consequences from poor physical strength and stamina, but it is PlayedForLaughs.
* SupernormalBindings: Shackles made from Arogua stone. Acts as a PowerNullifier for magicians.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** Two scrawny teens carrying the fur of an elusive strong monster called Head-Eater Demon to redeem it in the Adventurer Support Center is definitely going to raise some eyebrows, and draw the ire, envy and suspicions from other adventurers.
** Making a FakeUltimateHero is more trouble than its worth. For either he becomes dependent on you and not improve himself, starts BelievingTheirOwnLies and goes LeeroyJenkins and becomes TooDumbToLive, or gets scouted by a Princess to become a PropagandaHero and fight in an arena, making a spectacle of himself.
** Abel and Mea participate in a monster-thinning mission with the Fage territory's private army, on the account of killing the Dragon Nalgarn. Later, we see the army engaging a group of goblins while Abel have already collapsed from the sun's heat with Mea giving him a LapPillow behind the soldiers, with a soldier named Clark complaining about how useless they are. Suddenly, the goblins' leader sneaked past the soldiers to attack Abel and Mea! Mea tries shooting the goblin with arrows, but only manages to hit one of its thighs and he shrugs it off and keeps going towards them. Only for Clark to decapitate it, and harshly berates them for putting themselves in danger in the first place. Abel does agree that he has a point there.
* TakingOverTheTown: What the Levi Church is trying to do in the Fage territory, and almost succeeded in Palgas village.
** To make a point on the takeover, when Abel went to Palgas village, several churches can be seen under constructions, with followers patrolling the village wearing the standard blue robe of Levi Church, who can accost a travelling carriage, yell at its occupants for reacting to their hostility, and call them infidels.
* TallPoppySyndrome:
** Getting a RankUp to your adventurer class is what adventurers strife for: higher rewards, prestige, fame. But also means a higher chance to be scouted by a Nobel, or Royalty to get even bigger rewards, but also means you'll lose your agency, freedom to refuse quests, and the ability to leave the service of your patron or the country.
* TechnologyUplift: Abel plans on creating a "Magic cellphone"/"Magiphone" early in the story. It takes a long time to be realized, with building a wave tower, obtaining money for the project, etc.
* TheseusShipParadox: When Mea had to reluctantly replace her beginner's bow, "ICallItVera Shooting Wyvern", with a newer one made by Abel, she starts with excuses like: the string is ruined, and the wood needs replacing, effectively replacing the bow. Abel mentions the paradox by name, then says that he believes that the soul of "Shooting Wyvern" now lives inside the new bow.
* ThouShaltNotKill: Unless they are a monster, a demon or high-ranking spirit, any fight against Abel is guaranteed to leave his opponents alive. This happens regardless of how vicious or evil said opponent is, even when they are fine with attacking a teenager with lethal force or even taking hostages. It does net him some friends that actually help him later, while those who don't change their ways are conveniently incarcerated, or in some asshole high elf's case, killed by someone who is okay with killing.
* TiredOfRunning: While Giselle is chasing after them, Mea suggests that Abel should stop running and instead confront his sister. Telling him that [[spoiler: since he confessed his feelings to her, she wants to see him let his sister down once and for all]]. She even goes to confront Giselle herself when Abel chickened out.
* TowerDungeon: The Witch Tower of Altamir. With wards to prevent jumping through the levels and breaking holes. Eight floors filled to the brim with deformed magical beasts and vicious traps, increasing in difficulty with each floor climbed, and no windows. Each floor is twisted with magic to give the illusion of a spacious different landscape, through the magic of the witch sealed inside.
* TrickedIntoSigning: Before Abel began helping in saving the Fage territory, he submitted 38 petition papers to Baron Lark to obtain permits to use different types of magic freely. However, he was actually trying to get Lark to sign a permit for Abel to use Bio-Magic, which is commonly forbidden in the Kingdom. Subverted, as Lark was familiar with these tricks from handling the alchemy division's demands, and only put 5 papers on "Pending". [[spoiler: Later in the story, Abel tricks Lark into signing papers for purchasing... a magic cannon]].
* Tsundere: Filo, and her grandfather the Chieftain of the Marren clan.
* TwoGirlsAndAGuy: In the epilogue, [[spoiler: Abel and Mea are now HappilyMarried and living in their own house in the Marren village... and Giselle is staying there as well, to take care of the house chores and Mea during the latter's pregnancy. Mea is both irritated by her getting touchy-feely with Abel, and creeped out from her excessive caring and devotion]].
* TwoPartEpisode: Downplayed with the final story, "The Second Coming of the Ruler", which is a 101 chapters, in contrast with the previous ones, that are 50 chapters more or less.
* VillainousRescue: Thanatos saves Mea from falling to her death, turns on his master Devin and throws him off to fall and break his bones for shoving her off to fall. Then he gets destroyed for good by Apocalypse, while protecting Mea from the latter. [[spoiler: He was serving a higher entity's plan, that require Mea being alive]].
* WaveMotionGun: [[spoiler: The Abel Cannon, a magic cannon that can shoot a powerful directional gravity wave from excess magic power of the magic wave tower, distorting and crushing a straight line of space in a speed exceeding the speed of light! But also according to Abel, it has a 50% chance of success, otherwise it will cause TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt. Also ItOnlyWorksOnce, as the tower got fried after the shot.]]
* WeirdMoon: The Magical Moon Din Mae. Every 500 years, it gets closer to Earth and somehow influences magical monsters and increases their ferocity. By the time of the story climax, [[spoiler: it became closer than ever to Earth, and is revealed to be a key instrument to the GreaterScopeVillain's plan]].
* WeirdnessMagnet: Whenever Abel and Mea travel to a new place, be it towns, ruins, villages or towers, fate conspires into putting them into some crazy dangerous adventure that goes beyond the standard of a fantasy adventure. The author hangs a lampshade over this reoccurring format in the Light Novel notes.
-->WordOfGod: “I'm sorry, but Abel's life is slow. There are various definitions of a slow life, but the core of it is "to lead a leisurely and peaceful life", so there shouldn't be anyone who deviates from that framework. I'm sure it is. It's just that when he visited the ruins for sightseeing, it happened to explode. It's a common occurrence, yes.”
* WeNamedTheMonkeyJack: Abel creates an octopus-like artificial spirit beast and names it Icarus, borrowing the name of the former-head of the Fage territory's Alchemy division (that Abel replaced). Abel says he didn't have anything in mind, so he named it that.
* WhamEpisode:
** .
** Chapter 25 in the manga drops a really early MacGuffinPersonReveal and reveals TheProphecy, instead of slowly dropping hints of it like the webnovel did.
* WhatIf: “If the Carriage Didn't Come”, an extra story in the Light Novel, that shows what would've happened to Abel if Jaime's carriage didn't arrive so he could hitch a ride. It quickly develops to FromBadToWorse, becoming a FateWorseThanDeath, . Said story was adapted into the manga.
* WizardDuel: Abel was challenged by Icarus into a "Vernasse-style duel", a style developed for settling disputes between mages with less danger of taking a life, that limits the participants to using magic bullets with ElementalPowers for effects, giving them both an equal chance. Of course, this is exploited by Icarus, as he knows that fighting Abel is suicide, so he picked a duel he's skilled at and that will limit Abel's magic. [[spoiler: And when he began to lose, he tries to kill Abel in the duel]].
* WorthlessCurrency: Before leaving the village, Abel took with him a bag of his high-quality incense-smoke leaves to exchange for money, only to learn that the kingdom has a ban on drugs. Later, the Marren search party reach the city he was in, get arrested, and released after getting their stash confiscated.
* WouldHurtAChild: To an almost disturbing degree, almost all of Abel's human (or human-like) adversaries have no problem attacking a teenager and actively trying to kill him using direct or indirect methods. [[spoiler: Even a WellIntentionedExtremest like Peter did and came close to]]. However, a justification for that comes in the form of them judging Abel to be a dangerous individual to their plans, him being in the way, etc. Still ends going badly.. for them. Also doesn't help that this world (at least the Marren tribe) considers a 16-years-old as an adult.
* Yandere: One of the constantly looming threats to Abel's life in the new world is his sister Giselle. He had to run away from the Marren village to avoid being forced into marriage with her by their parents and the tribe. Unfortunately for him, IWillFindYou she doesn't take a no for an answer.
!!Tropes applies to the Light Novel version and its Short Stories:
* DarkerAndEdgier: Some of the Light Novel's short stories throws Abel and Sidekick Mea in rather really dangerous situations the webnovel didn't have. The Returning Cold has Mea and Abel, the latter bedridden with a sickness, encountering a WolfInSheepsClothing, who orders his minion to grab Mea while he goes to chop her horns, Mea's Present has Mea walking into the bad part of Lomarn city, and almost gets scammed out of her money and be forced into slavery before Abel rescues her, The Queen of Flowers has OOCIsSeriousBusiness Abel shouting at Euris to immediately kill him, after the titular monster grabbed him and was about to drain magic from him and grow more powerful, etc.
* Filler: Played with the short stories. Some of them don't affect the main novel, some do bring a villain from a previous short story (e.g. Mea's Present refers to Returning Cold), and some serve as an AdaptationExpansion (e.g. Giselle and the Evil Spirit).
!! Tropes exclusive to the manga version:
* AbledInTheAdaptation: Mea in the webnovel is incapable of using magic, and Abel did confirm she has zero magic in her. Chapter 22 shows some magic emitted from her forehead in her sleep, that goes to heal Abel from a cold he suffered, among other things..
* AdaptationDeviation: Just after the manga began adapting Volume 4 of the novel, the Doom tribe's search party suddenly shows up demanding Mea back, .
* CompressedAdaptation: Several bits of the webnovel had to be arranged and altered to fit the manga. An example of that is when the manga adapts Volume 4, Abel and Mea have already bypassed Nalgarn, spoke with the Fage territory's Baron and began helping the town they're staying in, all in the span of one chapter.
* PillarOfLight: A variant in the form of a ball of light happens on Chapter 22, after Mea's magic leaves Abel's sleeping body and the mansion they're sleeping in. [[spoiler: Said ball of light ends up alerting both Melzef and Giselle to their location. Whoops]].
* StopOrIShootMyself: Mea pulls this on Melzef attempting to take her back to their tribe's settlement. When the latter isn't convinced, Abel threatens him with killing her himself. [[spoiler: It was ruse by Abel to break Melzef's concentration and lure him into a trap]].
