[[AC: 1998 series]]
* The first episode and Mildred's attempt to use the virtual reality broomstick flying simulator. She and the other girls have no idea how to turn it on, and go OhCrap once they send it zooming out the door with Mildred still on it (Joanna Dyce's "no WAIT!" is particularly good). Any notions about keeping quiet go out the window as Mildred starts screaming, waking up Miss Hardbroom, who stops the machine.
--> '''Mildred:''' Miss Hardbroom, you saved my life!
--> '''HB:''' (''in a voice that suggests extreme second thoughts'') ...yes...
* Miss Hardbroom and her apparent fear of pigs.
** A few seconds later, Miss Hardbroom runs into the girls looking suspicious (the pig above is actually Ethel):
--> '''Miss Hardbroom:''' One moment - girls! I don't suppose you've seen any ''animals'' of any kind on your travels?
--> ''(The girls all share [[OhCrap a brief look]])''
--> '''Maud:''' ''(in an overly sweet and innocent voice)'' Do you mean kittens, Miss Hardbroom?
* Enid making the entire background of the stage fall on Ethel.
* All of Miss Bat's scenes in "Alarms and Diversions", most notably the fire drill where she has an anxiety attack in front of the whole school...after the alarm has stopped.
** From the same episode, Mildred dropping the bucket of water on Miss Hardbroom.
--> '''Miss Hardbroom:''' (''through the bucket on her head'') There is no need to ask which pupil is responsible for this.
--> ''Mildred watches open-mouthed with horror, then smiles sheepishly at the laughing crowd nearby''
--> '''Miss Hardbroom:''' (''still through the bucket'') Mildred Hubble! Perhaps you would be kind enough to assist me in my predicament?
--> ''Mildred timidly removes the bucket from Miss Hardbroom's head''
--> '''Miss Hardbroom:''' (''very acidly'') Ohhh...thank you, Mildred.
--> '''Mildred:''' I'm sorry, Miss Hardbroom, I thought there was a fire..."
--> '''Miss Hardbroom:''' (''speaking calmly and tensely with [[TranquilFury suppressed fury]]'') ''If'' you remember the drill, Mildred, pupils are expected to come into the yard from the main door; [[DeadpanSnarker not, as you seem to imagine, through an upstairs window]]!
* When Mr Hallow arrives at the school, Miss Drill and Miss Bat have a good look at him through the keyhole of the staff room. Miss Cackle catches them and says "I believe your classes are waiting for you, ladies". Once they've gone, she then bends down to look through the keyhole herself.
* The girls are on a field trip and run into a group of Canadian boy scouts. The leader has a talk with Miss Drill in his cabin and asks who Miss Hardbroom is. Cut outside to HB...
--> '''Miss Hardbroom:''' "Maiden Aunt!?"
* When the girls play a basketball game against another school, Maude at one point gets the ball and walks towards the basket with none of the other team stopping her and gets one in. Miss Cackle and Miss Hardbroom jump up cheering and clapping only for the girls to inform them that Maude scored in the other team's basket.
** Earlier on during practice, Ethel proves quite disastrous at playing and the girls have a good laugh.
--> '''Ethel:''' What are you lot laughing at? ''(folds her arms defiantly)''
--> '''Drucilla:''' [[CaptainObvious I think they're laughing at you, Ethel...]]
--> '''Ethel:''' ''I know that!''
* The first episode has Miss Bat take offence to something Miss Hardbroom says and sulkily lock herself in the staff room cupboard. Not batting an eyelid, Miss Cackle picks up Miss Bat's bowl of milk (?) and casually brings it to the cupboard door for her.
* In the school pantomime, '''Miss Hardbroom''' is playing the Fairy Godmother. Mildred's reaction when she sees her in the costume says it all.
** Maude is playing the WickedStepmother and her introduction in the pantomime is materialising out of thin air like Miss Hardbroom does. And guess who Maude is dressed to resemble? We even get a quick shot of HB with an annoyed look on her face when this happens.
** Add in how incredibly into the pantomime the Grand Wizard is ("that's not our Cinders!") and the entire episode is one big CMOF.
** This set up is magnificently played.
--> '''Helibore:''' Drusilla is playing...
--> '''Miss Cackle:''' The prince yes. That's [[CrossCastRole quite normal]] in a pantomime.
--> '''Hellibore:''' And my boys... (''massive EyeTake'')
--> '''Miss Cackle:''' Yes, that's normal too.
--> ''GilliganCut'' to Baz and Gaz dressed as the Ugly Sisters''.
* From "Let Them Eat Cake", Miss Hardbroom strolls into Mrs Cosey's tearoom. As soon as Miss Cackle hears her voice, she dives behind the couch and then pops her head up to say "I'm not here".
* In "Sweet Talking Guys" Miss Bat takes offence at the Grand Wizard deciding to have lunch with Miss Cackle and dramatically [[RunningGag locks herself in the cupboard]]. Miss Cackle tries to cover it up as "the back stairs". Then about five scenes later, [[BrickJoke Miss Bat jumps out of the cupboard]] to give him a ReasonYouSuckSpeech while he looks like he has no idea what's even going on.
** During his lecture in the Great Hall, Baz and Gaz use a spell to make the girls put their hands up and not be able to speak. Mildred attempts to stop it by flicking an eraser off a ruler at Merlin (who's casting it). Unfortunately she misses...and hits the Grand Wizard right in the eye.
* In "The Witchy Hour" the girls are in the middle of a live radio show and Ethel turns the DJ into a frog. Miss Hardbroom immediately takes over...and is surprisingly talented on the radio. Oh and she refers to herself as "Hot Stuff Head Hardbroom".
* Miss Drill organises a hiking trip with a stop by Cosey's tea room afterwards and Miss Cackle offers to come along.
--> '''Miss Drill:''' But it's a hill, Miss Cackle. A steep hill.
--> '''Miss Cackle:''' Yes, Miss Drill, I am familiar with hills.
--> '''Miss Hardbroom:''' (''muttering'') And cream buns.
* "Sorcery And Chips":
** Mildred attempts to make up for missing the picking of potion ingredients at dawn by going out the next morning to get some for class. Unfortunately she comes in covered in grass and mud right as Mr Hallow is walking by. Miss Hardbroom's exasperated "Mildred!" is priceless. The girl can cause her embarrassment literally by walking by.
** Thanks to her ingredients being so fresh, the potion the girls make appears to be some kind of SuperStrength one. But it results in three girls throwing boulders through the Great Hall's roof.
** Then there's the reason they're having class in the Great Hall in the first place; Mildred spilled some Elixir of Life in the potion lab. As a result, she turned all the tables and chairs back into trees.

* Bella Ramsey and Jenny Richardson, when they are not acting, is the complete opposite of Mildred and Ethel. Bella confessed that it's hard for her and Jenny to pretend to act mean towards each other because off-camera, Bella and Jenny is [[ThoseTwoGuys the show's resident duo]], which explains why it's a little tough filming scenes with Mildred and Ethel interacting together. Bella and Jenny do everything Mildred and Ethel '''can't do''': become friends.
* Miss Cackle's reaction to suddenly finding a monkey on her desk, stealing her biscuit, is to calmly look at it and state, with a polite smile:
--> "It's good manners to share, you know."
* In "Miss Cackle's Birthday", Maud is a bit grumpy so her friends try to make a potion to cheer her up but it [[BabyMorphEpisode turns her into a baby]] instead and Enid sort of "babysits" her. When baby Maud goes missing, Enid does a spell that ends in "help me find my missing baby" which backfires and takes her to some tadpoles that Algernon (who used to be a frog for decades so he's still a bit froggy) is fawning over.
** Same episode, when Miss Drill finds out that Mildred is not rehearsing for the show.
--->'''Mildred''': "It's Maud. She's a baby."
--->'''Miss Drill''': [[ComicallyMissingThePoint "We can toughen her up."]]
* Generic example: because Algernon got used to being a frog, he still eats flies.
* In "All Hallow's Eve":
** Miss Hardbroom is shocked at the idea of letting students get away with pulling pranks "without fear".
** Miss Cackle couldn't fit a whole paragraph onto the Halloween banner, so she just wrote, "Happy Halloween" instead.
** Felicity getting turned into a pizza.
** Upon discovering that Mildred is indeed [[spoiler: from a witching family]], HB tells her that this is excellent news... [[BaitAndSwitch it means she can work Millie even harder now]]. It's impossible to tell whether or not she's joking.
* In one episode, the girls try to give Miss Bat a love potion to make her fall back in love with Algernon, but give it to all the teachers by mistake and they all fall in love with him, even himself. Miss Drill flirts by showing off and Miss Hardbroom flirts by insulting him.
* When Oliver is trying to pass as a Cackles student, he and the main trio accidentally enter HB's classroom, and she snaps at them without turning around.
--->'''Miss Hardbroom''': No girls in the classrooms after hours!
--->'''Mildred''': Yes, Ms. Hardbroom!
--->'''Maud''': Yes, Ms. Hardbroom!
--->'''Enid''': Yes, Ms. Hardbroom!
--->'''Oliver''' (in a voice much too deep to be a girl's): Yes, Ms. Hardbroom!
** Upon hearing this, HB whips around, looks suspiciously at the just-closed door, then shrugs and gets back to her work.
* During 1x09, "Spelling Bee," Mildred is late to HB's class, and Ms. Cackle remarks that her head is always in the clouds. GilliganCut to Mildred, who's sitting on top of the school, begging for Tabby to come down (he got scared by a mouse, apparently).
** [[FridgeBrilliance Given the kind of bizarre magical accidents that happen around Cackles, who knows how big or nasty that mouse might have been?]]
* Upon meeting her competitors in the Spelling Bee (one of whom is a boy), Ethel gets DistractedByTheSexy and can only stammer and gape. When one of her friends urges her to say something, Ethel mutters, "uh...frogspawn?" with a horrified look on her face.
** This becomes a RunningGag throughout the episode.
* This small exchange between Algernon Rowan-Webb and Clarice Twig when the latter is late for class, both thanks to Algernon's SoBadItsGood joke, Clarice's ComicallySerious attitude, and the rest of the students' total non-reaction:
-->'''Algernon''': Ah-hah! Late-comer penalty question: What is the difference between a bird and a fly?\
'''Clarice''': A fly's an arthropod insect, whilst a bird is a warm-blooded vertebrae.\
'''Algernon''': No! A bird can fly, but a fly can't bird! ''*laughs*''\
''*NONE of the students so much as smile*''
** Arguably even funnier is the implication that he enjoys ''Literature/WinnieThePooh!''
* During 3x3, Ms. Tapioca swoops down on Beatrice and demands that she wash the dishes.
-->'''Ms. Tapioca''': Those dishes won't wash themselves, you know! [[ByNoIMeanYes I mean, they could, since this is a magic school]], but I want you to do them!
* Regarding a magical game:
--->'''Miss Cackle''': It's not so bad. It teaches hand-eye coordination, mental dexterity...
--->'''Miss Hardbroom''': And reckless insubordination!
* Later, Beatrice, Enid, and Sybil find that the game's taken over ''everyone''...including Ms. Hardbroom, who is solving the puzzle with moves that can only be described as twerking.
--->'''Miss Hardbroom''': GET OUT!
* During the birthday party, Mabel announces that the sweets are complementary, and everyone cheers. Then she clarifies that she means that people can buy them from her, with her compliments. Everyone groans.
* This behind-the-scenes photo of [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bellaramsey_jennyrichardson__bmp_hsqhcv5_9.jpg Jenny Richardson giving Bella Ramsey a bone-crushing hug]]. Yeah. Don't expect Ethel Hallow, herself, to do that to Mildred Hubble.
* This exchange, which sums up the whole show:
--->'''Mirabelle''': You never do things by halves, do you, Mildred?
--->'''Miss Hardbroom''': Never.
* Ethel comes into HB's classroom and starts off with, "[[BlatantLies I don't like to tattletale...]]" HB just rolls her eyes.
* During [[spoiler: Mr. Rowan-Webb and Ms. Bat's wedding, who's carrying the train?]] None other than HB. Wearing an all-black frilly frock, and holding it, and later the flowers, at arm's length in two fingers as if it were someone else's dirty handkerchief.
* Mildred's speech in the GrandFinale literally starts with her accidentally reading her packing list [[ActuallyPrettyFunny to the amusement of everyone, and, surprisingly, even Ethel and Miss Hardbroom found it amusing]]. Talk about an awkward first step as Head Girl!
---> '''Mildred Hubble:''' Thank you, everyone, uh... [reads from paper] Desk cupboard, sock drawer...oh. Sorry everyone, that's my packing list.
---> [Everyone laughs, even Ethel and Miss Hardbroom is chuckling. An embarrassed Mildred turns in her list to Miss Cackle.]
---> '''Mildred Hubble:''' Sorry about that.
---> '''Miss Cackle:''' It's OK.
---> '''Mildred Hubble:''' Let me try again...um...[cue RousingSpeech]
