| 3 | * Right after the long shot of Mickey in the corridors, he winds up between the shadows of two towering wolf-like creatures staring down on him. He turns around, [[BigShadowLittleCreature only to see two metal figures not even his height in front of a fire]]. Even Mickey himself laughs at this, at least until a coal ember burns him (which could be interpreted as the fire taking offense to his laughing). |
| 4 | * A little later on, after Mickey comes back out of the pitch-black room with the skeleton clock, he gets menaced by two skeletons hidden in the walls, the first of which bounces a cinder block on the ground right behind him to spook him. The second skeleton tries to grab him, but Mickey, unaware of exactly what's messing with him, runs off just in time, and the skeleton gives a "Rats, I missed!" pose complete with bone-fingersnap. |
| 5 | * The descending {{xylophone|sForWalkingBones}} when a group of skeletons make Mickey slide back down a staircase he just ascended is worth a giggle, as is the overlapping clatter of the planks they hide under when they peek at him afterward; you could almost imagine drumming your fingers in time with it. |
| 6 | * One skeleton gets the jump on the mouse to the point where he gets stuck in its ribcage. In trying to get away, Mickey slams head first into a wall, making the skeleton's bones all come apart and fly backwards, where they fall perfectly back into place as a skeleton sitting next to him. |
| 7 | * When Mickey tries to turn a doorknob, it turns out to be a skeleton arm which starts rattling him up and down as if it were giving an overenthusiastic handshake. How does Mickey shake it off? He grabs a board bar from another door and smacks the arm with it. The way the arm shakes itself in pain afterward is what sells it. |
| 8 | * A subtler meta example: listen to the background score when Mickey is being chased by the skeletal spider on its web. You'd think it might be some arrangement of "Itsy-Bitsy Spider" or something, but no; while the melody is different, the harmonic structure is ''very'' close to... "William Tell". |
| 9 | * After the spider traps Mickey under its legs, Mickey ''tickles'' it to get himself free. |
| 10 | * Then he rips out an "S"-shaped pillar from a nearby staircase banner and throws it at the spider like a boomerang. Unfortunately, he apparently forgets that [[BoomerangComeback boomerangs come back]], which is exactly what it does, [[HoistByHisOwnPetard tripping Mickey up]] after he turns his back. |
