4* In the episode Creator/EdgarRiceBurroughs [[DirectLineToTheAuthor appears]], he seems to be much more interested in Tarzan fighting various beasts than his softer side, which Jane points out. Thus, when he wrote his book, ''Literature/TarzanOfTheApes'', he put more emphasis on the violent elements, so it ended up much DarkerAndEdgier and especially BloodierAndGorier than Tarzan's "real" adventures. So in the universe of this cartoon, ''Literature/TarzanOfTheApes'' is VeryLooselyBasedOnATrueStory, but it went under serious {{Grimmification}} (rather than the cartoon being a [[{{Disneyfication}} Disneyfied]] version of the book).
5** In the episode mentioned above, Burroughs says he "owes Philander an apology", for laughing at his idea of living dinosaurs. Thus, he gets portrayed in a much more positive light in the book.
6* While the disguise Tantor wears as a giant female beetle is not very convincing, it works because he was sprayed with beetle pheromones. Beetles are not very visual animals, and they would probably try to mate anything that smells like a female beetle.
7* As a kid I couldn't understand why the writers decided to make the Leopard Men, a secret society of cannibalistic people both in RealLife and the original novels, La's ForcedTransformation minions. Then I found out the LostCity La rules over in both the series and the books is named Opar and I realized the connection between her and the Leopard Men is a StealthPun: La+Opar = Leopard.
