!! This movie provides examples of:
* ArtisticLicensePhysics: They triangulate Rickshaw's signal... somehow... involving drawing a line from each location to a center-point without knowing the direction of transmission. That means every location on the map was equally likely.
* BadassNormal: [[spoiler:Charge]] spent all the time [[spoiler:he]] could training to be able to keep up with the other heroes [[spoiler:because he didn't receive powers like they did.]]
* BigBad: Rickshaw masterminds the twisted game and he is the final villain confronted.
* BigDamnHeroes: Charge, mostly.
* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler: Charge manages to kill Rickshaw at the end, but the Wall is dead and several civilians got killed in the process. And it's not certain that Charge and Shadow will make it out of the blast radius.]]
* BroughtDownToNormal: All of the heroes before they wake up at the start, except Charge.
** Subverted in the sequel in Shadow/Jill's case, due to Shadow/Jill somehow regaining her power of invisibility.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: [[spoiler:It's revealed that Charge didn't end up getting powers in the event that gave the other heroes did and instead trained to the point of apparent SuperStrength as an excuse to hang out with Shadow.]] See BadassNormal above.
* CoversAlwaysLie: The movie poster/DVD cover features Charge and Cutthroat against a cityscape with Rickshaw's desk featuring an exploding skyscraper in the background. The movie takes place in an anonymous small town
* {{Determinator}}: Charge
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: In the sequel, Charge does have superpowers, namely Electrokinesis.
* EvilPlan: Rickshaw abducts several superheroes and forces them into increasingly dangerous challenges lest he kill hostages their stead.
* {{Expy}}:
** Rickshaw is basically Creator/MarvelComics supervillain [[Characters/XMenRoguesGalleryAToI Arcade]], with some elements of Being PracticallyJoker and some [[Franchise/{{Saw}} Jigsaw]].
** Charge is one [[spoiler:for Franchise/{{Batman}}]], with elements of ComicBook/ThePunisher.
* FakingTheDead: [[spoiler:Charge has Shadow shoot him so he can then pretend to die in order to catch Rickshaw unawares.]]
* FauxAffablyEvil: Rickshaw
* HeroicSacrifice: The "Bonus Round" is supposed to trigger one for each of the remaining heroes, with Rickshaw saying he'll let an innocent go free for each one of them who shoots themselves in the head. [[spoiler:[[ShootTheHostage Charge shoots the innocents instead.]]]]
* ImAHumanitarian: Manpower, the villain in the Uncle Sam outfit, is heavily implied to be a cannibal.
* {{Invisibility}}: Shadow's power before it was taken away. Early on she forgets she no longer has it, allowing Manpower to knock her aside when she tries to sneak attack him.
* KickTheDog: Rickshaw breaking his own rules to kill hostages.
* KillerGameMaster: [[spoiler:Rickshaw never wanted the heroes to win. It was all an excuse to kill them all.]]
* NighInvulnerability: The Wall's power before it was taken away. This means that when he ''is'' injured, he doesn't understand the pain he's feeling.
* NoodleIncident: We get almost no backstory for the heroes or Rickshaw, aside from some brief black-and-white flashbacks. Apparently something fell out of the sky and gave the heroes [[spoiler:except Charge]] superpowers, but we aren't told anything more definite than that.
* OnlyAFleshWound: [[spoiler:Shadow]] takes a knife to the shoulder and [[spoiler:Charge]] gets sliced open deeply across the chest. Doesn't seem to slow them down in the least.
** Later, [[spoiler:Charge]] even makes a plan that involves being shot in the side to fake an actual killing wound. That seriously hurts [[spoiler:him]].
* PragmaticHero: Charge all the way, willing to sacrifice innocents [[spoiler:and kill teammates]] in order to get a better chance at taking out Rickshaw. [[DirtyBusiness Not that it doesn't wear on him, though.]]
* PsychopathicManChild: Rickshaw's plan boils down to depower, then violently humiliate and murder four superheroes simply because he cannot beat them in typical circumstances between him and the aforementioned four superheroes. In other words, he's an immature and childish sore loser.
* SuicidalSadisticChoice: The supervillain Rickshaw is putting four superheroes through a DeathCourse with captured citizens as leverage. One of these stages involves trying to force the heroes to kill themselves in exchange for Rickshaw releasing several hostages, [[spoiler:but Charge correctly figures out that their captor is lying and will kill them anyway, so he removes the choice by [[ShootTheDog killing the hostage himself]]]].
* SuperSpeed: Cutthroat's power, before it was taken away.
* SuperStrength:
** Charge's power. [[spoiler:Subverted in that he just trains a lot in order to be strong, making it more CharlesAtlasSuperpower.]]
** The sequel reveals that The Wall had (keyword being had) superhuman strength too in addition to his former superhuman durability.
* WhatIsThisFeeling: The Wall has never felt pain before. [[spoiler:That's why his death is all the more heartbreaking.]]
* WorkingWithTheEx: Charge and Shadow used to be intimate. In fact he invented the idea of being superheroes to have an excuse to be around her more!
