9	Emolga is a small [[ShockAndAwe Electric-type Pokémon,]] resembling a flying squirrel, which stands about .4 meters high and weighs 5 kilograms. It has a large head with white facial fur, round black eyes, and two yellow patches on its cheeks. On this head rest two equally large ears, which are black on the outside and yellow and white on the inside. Emolga has a small body, small feet, three-fingered hands, and a bushy black tail. However, its most distinguishing features are the two yellow flaps of skin under its arms. These membranes serve a double purpose. First, they collect electricity that is constantly produced in the patches on their cheeks, and store it for later use. Second, they allow Emolga to glide incredible distances. By discharging bursts of electricity, Emolga can even control its height, giving it, when coupled with its small size, stunning flying ability.

11	Emolga strongly resemble both Pikachu and Pachirisu, which are Kanto and Sinnoh-dwelling Pokémon respectively. The current theory is that one of the three was brought to the other two locations by colonists or simply by trading ships which they had snuck onto, and eventually adapted to their new surroundings. It is unclear which of the three is the original, although many believe it to be Emolga, due to both Pachirisu and Pikachu each having more of a resemblance to Emolga (Pikachu’s stockiness and its lightning shaped tail, Pachirisu’s yellow cheek-patches and its squirrel-like shape) than to each other. Some people, however, believe that only Pachirisu and Emolga are related, and that Pikachu’s resemblance to Emolga is purely coincidental.

13	Documentation exists of Emolga with brown fur instead of black, and a more faded yellow color. If these in fact exist, they are exceedingly rare.

17	Emolga’s cheek patches are full of electrochemical cells, which rapidly build up and discharge electricity. Emolga collects this electricity in its wing membranes, and will later discharge it either to gain altitude in flight or as a weapon. In addition, Emolga’s thick fur generates a great deal of static, which, unlike the electricity stored in its wings, is released into anything touching Emolga. This static is used as a defense mechanism, and cannot be controlled by Emolga.

19	If Emolga’s membranes are damaged, it will become extremely agitated, often refusing to leave its Poke Ball until it is completely healed and able to fly again. In the wild, an Emolga with damaged wings has lost access to its two primary methods of defense: electrical blasts and flight. Seeing as many Unova predators find Emolga to be a delicious snack, this agitation is understandable.

23	Emolga are not often found in tall grass, leading Trainers to make the false assumption that they are rare in the wild. As a matter of fact, they are extremely common, and are regarded as pests in Nimbasa City, an area they frequent. The reason they are not often sighted is because they are usually hiding in nearby trees. Emolga form huge colonies in trees, each immediate family making its own nest, either in the tree, or on a large branch. Adult Emolga only descend to the ground to hunt, at which point their presence is loudly announced by the rustling of grass. Baby or juvenile Emolga occasionally wander down from their tree, but attempting to capture one is unadvised, as it tends to result in attention from the parents (Read: A vicious attack with claws and teeth).

27	Emolga is primarily herbivorous, feeding off berries and mushrooms. They tend to eat a lot of Cheri and Wacan Berries (stolen from local farmers or sometimes Minccino), possibly to avoid injury from their own electric shocks, as they are partly Flying-type. However, Emolga occasionally hunt Bug Pokémon by shocking them to death, before bringing them to its nest to feed to its family. They also make occasional ventures into tall grass, scaring out small insects by shuffling around before catching them out of the air. They have also been known to eat Pidove eggs.

31	Despite their herbivorous status, Emolga are surprisingly aggressive Pokémon, and have the power to back it up. Due to their amazing speed and powerful electric attacks, there are many reports of Emolga [[SpeedBlitz knocking out unprepared Pokémon before they can retaliate.]] In addition, many Emolga know the move Double Team, meaning that even if a Pokémon can resist the initial attack (usually a Pursuit or Spark), Emolga can be extremely hard to hit. As such, when traveling in or near Nimbasa City, Trainers are strongly advised to carry a strong Ground-type Pokémon, especially Excadrill, which is capable of resisting Emolga’s Flying-type attacks as well.

33	!! Courting and Childrearing

35	Emolga mate for life. Once a year, adult Emolga enter heat, and a mated pair will mate. After three months, the resulting eggs will hatch. Emolga are born blind and without fur. They spend about 5 months growing up, during which time their parents will teach them what berries can be eaten and how to hunt. The children will then leave the nest in search of a new tree.

37	During the new colony’s first heat, the females will perch in the tree, while the males attempt to impress them with intricate flight patterns. If a female is suitably impressed, she will fly out to join the chosen male. They will then retreat to a nest the female has made and mate.

41	Emolga are highly social creatures, forming huge colonies in trees. These colonies are made up of a full generation of Emolga, with each family living in its own nest. Emolga colonies will fiercely drive out any other Pokémon that attempt to enter their tree. From time to time, an Emolga colony will attack an already-occupied Emolga tree, killing or chasing off its original inhabitants and taking the tree for itself.

45	Opinion on Emolga is divided. Many Trainers (especially younger Trainers) love Emolga, as it is, in fact, extremely cute. Many adult Trainers look at this and sigh. Emolga are regarded as pests in most major cities, where they steal food, shiny things that appeal to them, and once even gnawed through a power line (this was later prevented by regularly spraying Repel on the lines). Several Nimbasa City dwellers have petitioned to have Emolga banned in their city, but Elesa, the local Gym Leader, has refused each time, being an avid trainer of the electric squirrels herself.
