''Peeking Through the Fourth Wall'' is a series of ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'' script fics by a man who goes by [=MrTyeDye=], in which the Loud siblings read fanfics about themselves. Lincoln stars in every episode (unless it's an ''After Dark'' episode or it's set in the Casagrande apartment) and the majority of the episodes have four randomly-generated sisters, though every fifth episode will feature all the sisters.

On occasion, someone else (or, even more rarely, multiple someone elses such as several of the Casagrandes or Lincoln's friends) will read the story. In most of those cases, this other person will be reading a story that features either them or their close friend or lover prominently.

This story is hosted on [[http://theloudhouse.wikia.com/wiki/User:MrTyeDye the author's Wikia page]] and [[https://tenorghoul.deviantart.com/gallery/64634246/Peeking-Through-the-Fourth-Wall deviantART]]. The latter page also hosts "Peeking Through the Fourth Wall: After Dark", an NSFW spinoff that has Lincoln's high-school-aged sisters look at [[RuleThirtyFour raunchier]], [[DarkFic more mature]] fanfics.

[[folder:Tropes A-H]]
* AbusiveParents: In "The Edgy House", Rita and Lynn Sr. call Leni slurs, and Lynn Sr. rapes Lori and Leni and feels up Luna and Luan. [[spoiler:Subverted as the story turns out to be a dark joke made by Lincoln.]]
* AccidentalAesop: InUniverse -- In Episode 34, the characters read ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12730913/1/Business-over-brother Business Over Brother]]'', in which Luan wants Lincoln to assist her as a party clown so she can get the leftover cake. He's too busy doing his homework, so she steals the homework and has two of their pets destroy it. However, he's too angry with her to be her assistant, but she ends up getting the cake anyway but being [[TooUnhappyToBeHungry too sad to want it anymore]]. Lincoln notes that the story probably wasn't meant to have a moral, but he's found two perfectly good morals: "Have faith in yourself" and "Don't take people's homework".
* ActuallyPrettyFunny: The older sisters and Chaz spend most of After Dark's Fourth episode criticizing the excessively dark tone, but double over in laughter when the final scene reveals that [[spoiler: the entire story was just Lincoln's version of TheAristocrats joke]].
* AdaptationPersonalityChange:
** In "Bunking In", "One Angry Person", and "Fury of Lincoln Loud", Lincoln is way whinier and more pessimistic than usual.
** In "Lynn's Bruised Hand", Lynn is way less tough, worrying that she will be disabled by a ''bruised hand''.
** "The Edgy House" turns Luan from a genuinely happy girl to one who fakes happiness. [[spoiler:Subverted as Lincoln is only joking.]]
* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: In "New Jersey", Lynn and Clyde are dating.
* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade:
** In ''The Edgy House'', Rita and Lynn Sr. are both adulterers and have an unhappy marriage, Lori and both Lynns are rapists, Luan is a StepfordSmiler, and Lincoln is abusive to his younger sisters except for Lily. [[spoiler:Subverted though, as it all turns out to be a dark joke Lincoln was making.]]
** In ''Hide-and-Seek'', the parents have a shaky marriage and [[spoiler:Lincoln is delusional.]]
** In ''One Angry Person'', Lincoln hates living with his sisters.
* AdaptationalBadass: Downplayed for Lincoln in "Bunking In", where he can do karate in his sleep, but is also quite dumb/naive, clingy, and whiny.
* AdaptationalDumbass:
** In "Bunking In", Lincoln is dumb enough to mistake towels with drawn-on eyes for real ghosts.
** In "Substitute Roommate", Luna is gullible enough to believe Lincoln's lie that rockers aren't allowed in the park.
** In "The Night of Loneliness and Companionship", Lincoln mistakes Lily and her teddy bear for a monster.
** In "Hide and Seek", all the sisters except for Leni (who's already dumb), Lana, and Lily (who chose good hiding places), are uncharacteristically idiotic when they stink at hide-and-seek. [[spoiler:Perhaps justified though, because in the ending, it's revealed that none of them exist.]]
* AdaptationalIntelligence: In "Whipped", Lily is smart enough to use a tape recorder.
* AdaptationalJerkass: Happens a lot:
** In "Bunking In", Lola's aggro-ness is exaggerated, Lori and Lisa join in on a mean-spirited prank, and Lisa insults Lincoln's white hair.
** In "Bad Blood", Lincoln and Lynn have a long, very aggressive fight, and hold grudges in the hospital.
** In "Road Trip Rage", "Trustworthy", "In Memory of a Mascot", "Lincoln Betrays Lucy" the sisters tease more spitefully than in canon.
** In "Diary of a Loud", Lola is even more of a gossip than canon Lola, and Lincoln punches her badly enough for hospital and shows no remorse just because she embarrassed him.
** In "One Angry Person", Lincoln is very mean to his sisters, doing things such as ruining their possessions and yelling at them, all for doing something minor like arguing with him or bumping into them. Lori is also more aloof than in canon and slaps Lincoln.
** In "Whipped", all the sisters except Leni, Luna, and Lily treat Lincoln like a slave and in the alternate (joke) version, Leni and Luna are misandrists.
** In "Cringeworthy", Luna's sisters, plus Chunk, all shun and insult her just for writing a bad song. The sisters even make her sleep in the rain.
** In "Luck", the Louds except for Lincoln care more about their luck than their brother/son's wellbeing.
** Subverted in "Hughs and Kisses", where Hugh appears to be being mean to Lincoln, but he was just acting.
** In "Snowmageddon", Luan's pranks involve a killer robot.
** In "Melancholinc", everybody's a bit ruder than in canon, doing things like forcing people to go to parties, not saying, 'please', etc.
** In "Attack of the 50-Foot Sister", Lynn and Luna have no problem with ''killing'' people. Also Lily prepares to squash her siblings when they shrink, though she possibly didn't know that'd kill them.
** In "Loud House Jokes", Lucy calls Lincoln brainless for no reason.
** In "A Town Hates a Boy", Lisa enjoys creating a hate potion and barely cares about Lincoln's safety.
** Downplayed for "The Baby I Learned to Love", where Lynn says that she occasionally didn't love Lincoln.
** In "Property of Luan Loud", Leni is a ''rapist'', and everyone else takes the situation way too lightly.
** Exaggerated in "Diary of Luan Loud", where Luan is a rapist, wannabe-murderer, bigot, pedophile, sociopath, and bully.
** In "Lincoln's Twin Brother", Lio is apparently the only Loud kid with empathy.
** In "Hide and Seek", Rita yells at Lynn Sr. and accuses him of adultery.
** In "How Many?", Stella seems homophobic, as she questions Clyde having two dads.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy:
** In "One Angry Person", Lucy never argues.
** In "The Baby I Learned to Love", Lynn is never intentionally mean to Lincoln. Then again, she also admits to occasionally not loving him...
* AdaptationalSexuality:
** In "Property of Luan Loud", Leni has a perverted interest in a girl... namely ''Luan''. Later, Luan seems to be happy about this.
** Zigzagged in "Tryst of Fate", where at first it seems like Lori is now bi and cheating on Bobby with Carol, but [[spoiler:it was just a dream. Yet, she seems to be not so sure that it was a nightmare]].
** In "The Bestie That Stole My Heart", Ronnie Anne and Sid get the hots for each other.
* AdaptationalSkill:
** In ''Bunking In'' (covered in Episode 1), Lincoln can do karate (in his sleep, no less!) and play the flute and drums.
** In ''Stuffed Anger'' (covered in Episode 11), Luan can sew.
** In ''Whipped'' (covered in Episode 10), Lily can use a tape recorder, which also counts as CharacterExaggeration since in the show, she's only minorly a BrainyBaby.
** In ''Class Night'' (covered in Episode 26), Liam can do science experiments. So can Rusty in ''Model Brother'' (Episode 16).
* AdaptationalWimp:
** Many fics featured in the story do this to Lincoln, with fanfic Lincoln often sobbing over the pettiest of reasons. Lincoln does not like these fics at all.
** Likewise, in the first story of episode 11 ("Lynn's Bruised Hand"), Lynn [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin bruises her hand]] and wangsts about not being able to play sports because of it. The real Lynn does not take this well and calls this version of herself a "wimpy sad-sack" after the fic is over.
* AdolfHitlarious: "Diary of Luan Loud" has a gray kitten with a white face and a black patch below its nose. Luan calls him "Chaplin" in public, but "Hitler" in private.
* AffectionHatingKid:
** In ''Substitute Roommate'', Lincoln hates being hugged and kissed by his big sister Luna.
** In another episode, this time reading ''Model Brother'', Lucy (the real one) walks away upon seeing Lincoln hug Leni and Lola hug Lisa because she's not a very "huggy" person as Lincoln put it.
* AfraidOfNeedles: In Episode 19, the mere mention of a shot is enough to send Lana into a panic.
* AgeInappropriateArt:
** [[spoiler:The events of ''The Edgy House'' turn out to be a joke made by Lincoln, with his younger sisters helping.]]
** In various episodes, Lucy is stated to have both read fanfiction and watched ''Film/TheRing''.
* AgeLift: "New Jersey" takes place when Lynn and Clyde are about 21 and 18 respectively.
* AlcoholicParent: In ''The Edgy House'', Lynn Sr. gets drunk and abuses his kids. [[spoiler:Subverted, as that story was all a joke.]]
* AllJustADream:
** The events of [[spoiler: "Tryst of Fate"]] and most of [[spoiler: "Attack of the 50 Foot Sister"]] turn out to be dreams.
** In-universe, the MST of [[spoiler:episode 4 ("Road Trip Rage")]] turns out to be a dream Lincoln is having...and when he wakes up, it's further implied to be a DreamWithinADream.
* AllPeriodsArePMS: When fanfic Linka shouts, the real Lexx wonders if she's on her period, causing Linka to point out that not all girls are like that on their periods, and wonder how he knows about them to which he replies he learned about them when their mom took him to see [[WesternAnimation/TurningRed that magic panda movie]].
* AmbiguouslyBi:
** In "Tryst of Fate", Lori [[spoiler:dreams that she]] cheats on Bobby with Carol, and [[spoiler:has a hard time convincing herself that it was a nightmare]].
** In Episode 28, Sid is unconvinced that she and Ronnie Anne would be silly as a couple, and she's had a crush on a man named Yoo Kwan in canon.
** In After Dark: 6, Lynn calls her potential future spouse "they", because she's "still figuring things out".
** In Episode 32, Stella says that she'd consider kissing Rusty if he brushed his teeth, but agrees with Liam that Molly is a cutie.
* TheAristocrats: [[spoiler: "The Edgy House" turns out to be Lincoln's version of the 'Aristocrats' joke, where he tells a story about his family screwing/raping one another and calls it 'The Aristocrats']].
* ArtificialIntelligence: Beginning in episode 23, Lisa installs an AI in the family's television named Grammy that automatically corrects grammar and spelling errors in the stories they read. The Casagrande/Santiago family has a similar AI named Gramito.
* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: The story "Attack of the 50-foot Sister" is about Lynn Jr. becoming a giant, and towards the end of it, her siblings all become giants too.
* BabysFirstWords: Episode 29 reveals that Lynn's first word was "run", Lincoln's was "think", and Lucy's was "dark".
* BallsGag: Lincoln and Lynn have a habit of snickering whenever someone uses the word "balls".
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: In Episode 7, after Lincoln in the story punches Lola down the stairs, the real Lincoln is taken aback and remarks that he preferred it when he was written as a whiny crybaby. One episode later, they react to [[TookALevelInJerkass "One Angry Person"]]...
* BearsAreBadNews: And yet in Episode 2, to the reading Louds' shock, provoking a bear into a rampage was Plan A of fixing things.
* BerserkButton: In Episode 32, Lily has an irrational hatred of being called a baby. Justified, as she's a toddler.
* BigBreastPride: Leni demonstrates this trope in "After Dark 5" where she's proud of having large breasts.
* [[BigBrotherInstinct Big Sister Instinct]]: Luna shows this in the first After Dark episode. When she starts making fun of Luan when Leni is making her uncomfortable, Luna angrily asks why she is doing that and not slamming Lisa (the person who did this to Leni) against the wall repeatedly.
* BigStupidDoodooHead: Lincoln's wangsting about how worthless he is in the story within Episode 25.2 leads to this gem from Lana:
-->'''''YOU CAN DRAW, YOU BIG, DUMB IDIOT HEAD!'''''
* BigWhat:
** Lola, Lincoln, Lisa, Luan, and Lynn shout, "What?!" in unison in Episode 7, when the story version of Lola says she deserved to get beaten up by Lincoln. Keep in mind that Lola wound up hospitalized because of the injuries Lincoln gave her.
** And again in After Dark Episode 1, where Lori, Leni, Luna, Luan, and Mr. Grouse shout, "What?!" when Leni in the story says [[ItMakesSenseInContext she asked Lisa to turn her into a cat]].
* BlackComedy:
** In Episode 22, Lynn makes excuses to play sports during unusual situations, including casket surfing at a funeral.
** In Episode 27, one of the jokes is about Lynn Sr. crying over Rita's death. Also, the Louds make witty banter over the attempts on Lincoln's life in the main story.
** In Episode 29, it's revealed that when Lucy was younger, she sacrificed a toy turtle to a demon.
* BrickJoke: Luan frequently mentioning the "umbrella building" in Episode 4 makes a brief reappearance in Episode 10.1, this time with her [[RuleOfFunny somehow inserting it into the fanfic's text]]. And again in Episode 20.
* BrotherSisterIncest: Lampooned in the After Dark episodes about "Property of Luan Loud" (where Leni has feelings for Luan and becomes a lusty cat-girl) and "The Edgy House" where Lincoln's older sisters screw him ([[spoiler:which turns out to just be Lincoln's version of the Aristocrats joke]]), and the characters reading the stories point out how disgusting it is.
-->'''Luna''': It's her sister! It's... it's wrong! It's ''WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG''!
* CantHoldHisLiquor: Lynn Sr., according to Luna and Luan in After Dark episode 4.
-->'''Luna''': If by "mean" you mean "sleepy," then sure. Two drinks and he's ''out.''\
'''Luan''': Two drinks? You're giving him ''way'' too much credit. I once saw him get wasted off a slice of rum cake.
* CatGirl: In "Property of Luan Loud", Leni turns into a girl with cat ears, whiskers, and tail. Unlike most examples of the trope, she has a cat's mind rather than a human's.
* CatsAreMean: In "Property of Luan Loud", once Leni has been given a cat's mind, she stalks Luan, steals her underwear, and eventually straight-up rapes her.
* CelebrityParadox:
** Averted, as [=MrTyeDye=] and gang traveled from another dimension to the Loud House dimension in Episode 17.
** Played straight by the fanfics, which in-universe are RPF.
* CharacterExaggeration:
** In "Bunking In", Lola is more aggro than the real Lola, yelling at Lincoln just for leaving comics in her and Lana's room.
** In several fanfics, the sisters tease a lot more meanly than in canon.
** Lynn boasts a lot, but in "Melancholinc", Lynn throws a ''party'' for winning a game.
** Lisa is a scientist with questionable ethics, but Lisa in "A Town Hates a Boy" is a straight-up MadScientist.
* CharactersMostHatedSong: In Episode 17, Epsilon hates the song "Barbie Girl" so much that he [[FauxHorrific screams and runs]] when [=MrTyeDye=] starts singing [[SongParody a parody of it]].
* ChristmasEpisode: The series has a Christmas special about a fic called "Secret Santa", which also takes place on Christmas.
* CluelessAesop: Conversed when lambasting "One Angry Person" for this trope:
-->'''Luna''': So what did we learn here today?\
'''Lincoln''': That if your family member resents you, you can always buy their affection back?\
'''Lucy''': Or that if you act like a brat, your family will shower you with gifts.\
'''Luna''': Sounds about right.
* ComedicWorkSeriousScene: This is generally an {{MST}} style comedy, but Episode 5 has a scene where EverybodyCries while reacting to a sad scene in the story, and it's played completely seriously.
* ComicallyOversizedButt: Invoked in episode 3. Lynn [[InsultBackfire takes it as a compliment]] when the fanfic version of Lincoln insults her by saying she has a big butt. The real Lynn brags that her butt really is huge, [[InformedDeformity even though it doesn't appear to be]], to the annoyance of her siblings.
* CopycatMockery:
** In the first episode featuring Ronnie Anne, Lincoln's sisters copy the "she's not my girlfriend" line to tease him.
** In "Attack of the 50-foot Sister", Lynn tells Lincoln that boys are taller than girls. Lincoln replies, "What about Stella?" and Lynn mockingly copies him.
** Characters, especially Luan, have a tendency to mimick their fanfic counterparts to make fun of their out-of-character behaviour.
** In "Fury of Lincoln Loud", Lynn and the twins mock Lincoln by pretending to be him, complete with orange polo shirts and white wigs.
* CountryMatters:
** In episode 17.2, That Engineer criticizes "Luck" for [[TookALevelInJerkass derailing]] [[BigSisterBully Lynn's]] [[TheUnapologetic character]] and turning her into, in his words, "an uncaring cunt."
** In the After Dark episode about "Diary of Luan Loud", everyone calls Luan's fanfic counterpart the C-word, even coining the neologism "cuntritude".
** In "The Edgy House", Lincoln calls the twins "those two little cunts".
* CreepyChild:
** In "The Edgy House", [[spoiler:at least before the reveal that it was all a joke]], Lincoln commits incest and abuses his younger sisters.
** In "Diary of Luan Loud", Luan apparently molested people as a kid.
* DarkFic: Some of the fanfics being reviewed are dark:
** "Luck" is about Lincoln running away after the infamous episode "No Such Luck".
** In "Property of Luan Loud", Luan gets raped by Leni.
** In "Substitute Roommate", Luna is psychologically unstable.
** In "The Edgy House", Lincoln and Lynn Sr. have sex with the oldest five Loud girls, Rita and Lynn Sr.'s marriage is unhappy, and Lincoln hates his life. [[spoiler: Subverted as it's just Lincoln making the Aristocrats joke]].
** In "Trustworthy", Lincoln nearly dies in a fire and Izzy and El Diablo either die or run away.
** In "Diary of Luan Loud", Luan is evil, rapes Lincoln, and wants to kill her siblings and cat.
** In "Lincoln's Twin Brother", Luan feels useless and is considering running away, and it's revealed that her comedy and Lio's weeb-dom both stem from a desire to prevent "anxiety and depression".
** [[spoiler:"Hide and Seek" ends with a reveal that the sisters don't exist and Lincoln is hallucinating.]]
* DeliberatelyCuteChild: Lily in Episode 10.1.
-->'''Lincoln''': Why would [Lily want to get involved]? If you think about it, we're already her slaves. "Baby wants food!" "Baby wants changies!" "Baby wants blankie!" Whatever Lily wants, Lily gets!\
''Lily coos and nuzzles her face against Lincoln's chest.''\
'''Lincoln''': Aww... okay, I can't stay mad at you.\
''While they're snuggling, Lily turns to the camera, gives a smug smile and does a thumbs up.''
* DepravedBisexual: Implied for the Leni in ''Property of Luan Loud''. The real Leni dates a boy, Chaz. The Leni in the story rapes her own sister, Luan.
* TheDiaperChange:
** Discussed in Episode 10 when Lori wonders how Lily in the story went so long without having her diaper changed.
** In "Truth or Dairy?", Luna has apparently never changed Lily's diaper. The real Luna points out that this isn't true and they've all changed Lily's diaper.
** In "The Diary of a Loud", Lisa changes Lily's diaper and the real Lisa notes that she often changes Lily.
** In "One Angry Person", Lincoln in the story changes Lily's diaper.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: When the Louds go to the police to find Lincoln in episode 17.2, That Engineer and [=WildKirbyAtrox=] invoke this trope.
-->'''That Engineer''': Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the police be the ''last'' place the family would want to speak with? I mean, what exactly are they gonna tell the cops that doesn't involve, "We treated our son like an object and he ran away?"\
'''[=WildKirbyAtrox=]''': Good idea! Let's complicate the story some more!
* DiggingYourselfDeeper: Invoked in After Dark 3.2. Lori, already enraged that Luan in the story is [[spoiler: having sex with Bobby]];
-->'''Lori''': Okay, I'm done. Fuck this shit. The day I get cuckqueaned by some flat-chested, beaver-faced little-\
[Lori notices Luan giving her a pointed look.]\
'''Lori''': O-oh! No offense, Luan.\
[Beat]\
'''Lori''': For the record, I think beavers can look pretty cute-\
'''Benny''': Just stop before you dig yourself deeper.
* DirtyKid:
** Conversed in "Hughs and Kisses", where the kids are grossed out by Hugh expecting sexual advances from Lily.
** Discussed by Luan in "Diary of Luan Loud", where she wonders if Lincoln gets off on reading in his underwear.
** Exaggerated in "The Edgy House", where Lincoln actually ''has sex''. [[spoiler:Subverted, as it's just a joke he's making.]]
** Downplayed in "A Town Hates A Boy", where a group of bikini-clad girls invite Lincoln to their pool party (with the intent of drowning him in the pool, as they are under the effect of Lisa's HatePlague). The real Lincoln admits that an offer like that would be awfully tempting to him.
* DisabledInTheAdaptation:
** In ''The Edgy House'', Leni's dumbness is due to lack of oxygen at birth. [[spoiler:Subverted as Lincoln was joking.]]
** In ''Hide and Seek'', [[spoiler:Lincoln is delusional and only hallucinating that he has sisters.]]
* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: [[AvertedTrope Lana thinks it'd be funny]] if Lincoln punches Ronnie Anne back.
* DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale: [[AvertedTrope Utterly averted]] in After Dark Episode 3. Luan’s rape of Lincoln is treated with no small amount of horror and disgust.
* EarlyPersonalitySigns: Episode 29 reveals several things about the Louds when they were younger:
** Lynn's first word was "run", she learnt to raid the fridge as soon as she could walk, and she went through a phase of playing ball with any round object she could find as a toddler.
** Lincoln's first word was "think" and he had charisma since he was born.
** Lucy's first word was "dark", she was intimidating even as a baby, and she sacrificed her toy turtle to a demon when she was younger.
* EasilyForgiven: Lincoln to Luan in "Snowmageddon." None of the reading Louds are happy about it, especially considering that Luan [[spoiler:nearly ''killed'' Lincoln with Robot Todd and sawblade-launching robots.]]
* ElmuhFuddSyndwome: Lily calls Luna "Wuna", Lincoln "Winky", Lana "Wana", Lisa "Wisa", Rusty "Wusty", and herself "Wiwy".
* EmbarrassingPyjamas: In the episode where the Louds riff "Lincoln Betrays Lucy", they agree that a pony onesie is more embarrassing than pyjamas that simply have ponies on them.
* TheEndingChangesEverything: [[spoiler:"Hide and Seek"]] ends with a reveal that Lincoln is only hallucinating his sisters, when it was previously just a lighthearted story about the Loud kids playing together.
* EntertainmentAboveTheirAge:
** In the HalloweenEpisode, eight-year-old Lucy dresses up as Samara from ''Film/TheRing'', a horror movie, indicating she's seen it. Justified since Lucy is quite macabre and hard to scare.
** In Episode 35, Lola, who's only seven, implies she's seen ''Film/TheGodfather'', which, as her brother Lincoln points out, is not very kid-friendly.
** In another episode, Lola again (who was ''six'' at the time) mentions that she watches soap operas.
** In Episode 10, Lucy mentions that she reads fanfiction when Lincoln asks her how she knows what {{shipping}} is.
** [[RuleOfThree Lola again]] in Episode 27, when she implies that she plays ''VideoGame/{{Overwatch}}''.
** Episode 4 has Lucy making a reference to ''Franchise/ResidentEvil'', to her siblings's surprise. She claims to know it because she played it at Haiku's house.
* EsotericHappyEnding: Invoked in [[http://theloudhouse.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:MrTyeDye/Fanfiction:_Peeking_Through_the_Fourth_Wall_(Episode_2) Episode 2]], which covered a fic that has a Luna [[WebOriginal/ProtectorsOfThePlotContinuum Replacement Sue]][[note]]Or possibly, in PPC terms, a possessed Luna[[/note]] who wangsts about missing Luan and goes quite nuts without her.
* EverybodyCries: The climax of part 2 of "Trustworthy" ([[https://www.deviantart.com/mrtyedye/art/Fanfic-Peeking-Through-the-Fourth-Wall-Ep-5-2-713013707 episode 5.2]]) causes all the Loud siblings to burst into tears.
* EveryoneHasStandards:
** While reading "A Town Hates a Boy", Lisa is enraged at [[MadScientist her fanfic self]] for calling Lincoln "dispensable", putting Lincoln's life in danger, saying that no one would notice if one sibling is gone, and caring more about science than her own family.
** In Episode 3, Lynn admits to fighting dirty, but is appalled by her fanfic counterpart using Lucy as a [[HumanShield shield]].
* EyeScream: The story in Episode 3 has Lincoln [[AHandfulForAnEye throw ash in Lynn's eyes.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: Grammy declares a robots vs. humans war in the Halloween special. [[spoiler:Luckily, it was all part of a Halloween prank cooked up by Lincoln, Lisa, Lucy and Grammy.]]
* FormulaBreakingEpisode: Instead of the Loud siblings, episodes 17.1 and 17.2 instead feature noted fanfic authors [=WildKirbyAtrox=], [=EpsilonMk46=] and That Engineer reviewing the fic "Luck" alongside [=MrTyeDye=], the four of them having broken into the Loud house to do so.
* FriendlessnessInsult: When ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'' characters are wondering how the Luan in the story could have had her underwear stolen off her person without her friends noticing, Mr. Grouse says, "Of course they didn't notice. You gotta ''have'' friends first!". Luan responds by [[FlippingTheBird flips him off]].
* GilliganCut: Type 1. At both the beginning and the end of Episode 13, Lana asks Lincoln if she and the other Louds reading "In Memory of a Mascot" can go to New York City to try their pizza.
-->'''Lincoln''': Lana, we're not gonna blow all our savings flying to New York City just so we can taste their-\
[We suddenly jump cut to Luna, Lincoln, Lucy, Lana and Lily sitting in a Brooklyn pizzeria, sharing a pie.]\
'''Lincoln''': -pizza.
* GirlOnGirlIsHot:
** Bobby and Luna seem to think so when reading a [=Lori/Carol=] fic known as [[https://tenorghoul.deviantart.com/art/Peeking-Through-the-Fourth-Wall-After-Dark-Ep2-742368692 Tryst of Fate]].
** And in episode 5 of After Dark, ''Grammy'' of all characters begins to talk dirty over a sex scene in the [=Luna/Sam=] fic [[https://www.deviantart.com/mrtyedye/art/Peeking-Through-the-Fourth-Wall-AD-Ep-5-797050822 Tongue Tied.]]
* GooGooGetup: Joked about in Episode 27 when the Lily in a joke wonders why it's cute when she burps but gross when her siblings burp. The real Lincoln pretends to be jealous of her for wearing diapers, but this backfires as Lily thinks he's serious and the other siblings are disgusted.
* GrammarNazi: Lisa will frequently get exasperated over the improper grammar and formatting in the fanfics they read [[labelnote:note]]unless there is a LanguageBarrier[[/labelnote]]. She later creates Grammy to be this. Lori takes up this role in After Dark.
* GroinAttack:
** In "Bad Blood", Lincoln criticizes the story version of Lynn for hitting his fanfic counterpart in the balls at the beginning of the fight.
** Mr. Grouse in "Property of Luan Loud" says that when his father punished him for swearing as a kid, he'd kick him in the balls.
** In "New Jersey", Lynn pleasures Clyde by holding his member. The real Margo notes that she'd be wary if she was him, since Lynn's score on the Test-Your-Grip game was "OW, MERCY! STOP! YOU'RE HURTING ME!".
* HalloweenEpisode: The Halloween special has all the Loud kids in costume reading "Attack of the 50-foot Sister".
* HardTruthAesop: Invoked when reading "Cringeworthy":
--> '''Luna''': And what is that lesson, huh? Just stick to what you know and never go outside your comfort zone?
* HatePlague: "A Town Hates a Boy" treats us to a perfume Lisa made that, when smelled, makes people want to kill the person wearing said perfume.
* HatesBaths: Exaggerated for Lana, who's outright ''afraid'' to take a bath. Later, she grows to like baths... but only because she can shake dry like a dog.
* HatesBeingCalledCute: Lincoln tends to find it embarrassing whenever his sisters (usually Leni or Lola) call him cute.
* HeadDesk: Lisa bangs her head against the wall after dealing with countless spelling and grammar errors in the final story of episode 11 ("Stuffed Anger"). Lola does the same out of frustration with the story in episode 21 ("Truth or Dairy").
* HeightAngst: In "Attack of the 50-foot Sister", Lynn is embarrassed about being short.
* HiddenDepths: On occasion, the MSTing Louds will show a side of themselves that catches even the others off guard. Among them include Lola being good at singing and vocal impersonations, Lincoln baking strawberry muffins, Lisa being a fan of ''Series/DoctorWho''[[note]]In other words, a Whovian[[/note]], Leni refuting a myth about goldfish, and Lynn being familiar with snake biology.
* HotterAndSexier: Peeking Through the Fourth Wall: After Dark focuses on the NSFW Loud House fics, which end up being this by definition.
* HumanShield: In the fanfic "Bad Blood", Lynn uses Lucy as a shield in a fight against Lincoln. No one, not even the main Lynn, is happy she did so.
* HurricaneOfEuphemisms: In Episode 33, Lana denies being a "snitch", "stool pigeon", "tattletale", and "blabbermouth" when reading a story in which her sister Lynn fears she'd tell on her.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tropes I-Z]]
* ImagineSpot:
** "All's Fair in Pranks and War" inspires the Louds reading it to ask the question: ''Does Lucy lift?'', complete with an image of Lucy bench-pressing.
** "Snowmageddon" has a typo where Lincoln calls Lori "[[SpellMyNameWithAThe The Lori]]". Cue one of these of Lori as a wrestler.
* IncredibleShrinkingMan: "Attack of the 50-Foot Sister" ends, just before the reveal that it was a dream, with all the siblings except Lily being shrunk and Lily nearly stepping on them.
* InformedAttribute: Maddie from "In Memory of a Mascot" seems very apathetic and perpetually bored, yet is meant to be energetic.
* InnocentAwkwardQuestion: In Episode 6, Lincoln, Lori, Lana, Lisa, and Lily are reading a story in which the narration establishes that the girls are having sleepovers with their crushes. It then says, "Not that kind of sleepover!". Lana (who was only six at the time) says, "What kind of sleepover now?", embarrassing Lori, who says, "Um... you'll find out when you're older."
* InsultBackfire:
** In "Bad Blood", Lincoln says that Lynn has a big butt. The real Lynn is proud of her big butt.
** In "Trustworthy", Luna is insulted for being loud and Lucy is insulted for looking like a vampire. The real Luna and Lucy are proud of these traits.
** When Lana calls Lola a "game snob" in Episode 31, Lola says she's an "everything snob".
** When Luan suggests the Clyde in the story tell Lynn that he was waiting for her to let her farts out, the real Lynn says that she owns her farts.
* TheInternetIsForPorn: In After Dark 1, Mr. Grouse says that an incest/bestiality fanfic is typical of the internet.
* JokeAndReceive: In Episode 14 ("Nolan's Birthday"), Lola [[HumourMode suggests]] that Bobby and Ronnie Anne drive all the way to Royal Woods for the titular Gary Stu's birthday. This then immediately happens.
* JokeOfTheButt:
** In Episode 3, the Lincoln in the story insults Lynn for having a big butt, but the real Lynn takes this as a compliment. Lana wants to someday have a butt like Lynn's.
** In one episode, Lana says she doesn't mind eating food that was near her butt since "that's where it's going to end up anyway".
** In Episode 19, Lana says she likes the feeling of snow in her butt crack.
** In Episode 37, the Lisa in the story imagines making a potion to make Lincoln's butt big.
* JustifiedTrope: Lincoln may be put off by how much of a crybaby fanfic Lincoln can be, but after his fic self's harsh treatment by his fic sisters in episode 5 ("Trustworthy"), he doesn't mince words:
-->'''Lincoln''': Lori, Luan, Lucy, Lisa, you all remember the first story we read, right? It bothered me, because I was written as some kind of thin-skinned crybaby. But... if all of this happened to me, I think I ''would'' start crying.
** After that happens, fanfic Lincoln throws his Ace Savvy costume away, throws a picture of his family on the floor in anger, and begins to cry into his pillow. Once again, Lincoln supports this reaction:
--->'''Lincoln''': Again, if this were any other story, I'd say that I was being a whiny drama queen. But here... I don't know, girls. I think it's merited.
* KickTheDog: Defied in Episodes 17.1 and 17.2; as fanfic writers, not the Louds, read a "No Such Luck" fanfic.
* LetMeGetThisStraight: Lucy says this word for word in episode 8 ("One Angry Person") after seeing how Lori will apologize to Lincoln in the fanfic.
-->'''Lucy''': Let me get this straight. Lori needs to put forth all this effort to properly apologize to Lincoln, [[DoubleStandard but nobody expects Lincoln to apologize for]] [[RageBreakingPoint yelling at his sisters]], [[WorstWhateverEver calling Lori the worst sister in the world]], [[SickeningCrunch breaking Lynn's nose]], [[ThatSatisfyingCrunch smashing Luna's guitar]], [[CannotTellAJoke insulting Luan]], [[DartboardOfHate ruining Leni's dress]], [[ToiletPaperSubstitute ruining]] ''[[ToiletPaperSubstitute Lola's]]'' [[ToiletPaperSubstitute dress]], [[FurnitureBlockade blocking Lana's mud puddle]], and [[FunWithFlushing taking Lisa's science equipment without asking.]]
* {{MST}}: A variation on the trope that has the characters themselves providing running commentary.
* MaleGaze: ''Grammy,'' of all characters, falls victim to it in After Dark episode 5 during a steamy sex scene between Luna and Sam, where he talks dirty and tells the fanfic girls to keep screwing.
* MamasBabyPapasMaybe: ''Inverted'' in "The Edgy House" where Lynn Sr. has an affair and tries to convince Rita that Luan is ''hers''. Luan points out that this makes no sense. Later played straight when Lincoln in the story reveals that he's unsure if his dad is Mr. Grouse, Flip, or Dr. Feinstein, if any of them or Lynn Sr. is Lucy's dad (due to her albinism), and if Lori's baby daddy is him or Bobby.
* MiserableMassage: Lana reveals that Leni tried giving her a massage earlier, but it felt like she was being kneaded like dough and was unpleasant.
* MistakenEthnicity: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]], where the VillainProtagonist of the story (an evil version of Luan Loud) makes an antisemitic joke, and Lori (who's reading the story with four others) apologises to Benny. Benny acts offended that Lori assumed he was Jewish, but it turns out that he actually ''is'' Jewish, and was just messing with her.
* MortonsFork: Chaz invokes this in After Dark episode 4 ("The Edgy House") after fanfic Lincoln says he "consoles" the mentally disabled Leni by having sex with her.
-->'''Chaz''': Fact is, we're boned no matter how we talk about this scene. Either we belittle Leni and deny her agency, or we downplay the amorality of Lincoln's actions. It's Morton's Fork. [[LiteralMinded Which is a lot less delicious than it sounds.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Lynn's reaction in "Will Lynn Tell?", when she accidentally gives Lana a concussion while practising archery.
* NarmCharm: In-universe, the odd grammar and actions of the oddly translated episode 3 is this to the Louds.
* NeckLift: Leni does this to Lincoln in Episode 8 when the fanfic Lincoln purposely destroys Leni's dress. Luna has to remind her that it's just a story.
* NoInnerFourthWall: In Episode 11, Story 2, Luna wants to know why she always has to be the "nicest sister".
* NoYou:
** When Lisa calls Lincoln a MilesGloriosus, Lincoln replies, "You're a [[{{Malaproper}} melee glory ozone]]!".
** When Lisa claims that any energy caused by energy drinks is just the placebo effect, Lincoln replies, "You're a placebo effect!".
* NoodleIncident:
** When the Louds have a "sibling meeting" without Lincoln in one of the stories, Leni (the real one) says that a meeting without Lincoln would be a ''sister'' meeting. She then adds that they don't have those anymore, "especially not--" but is silenced by Lynn.
** Leni once claims that at Becky's sixteenth birthday party, something happened which led to Lori being jailed and subsequently allowed to keep a diving helmet as a souvenir.
** Lucy once claims to have been buried alive before.
** Lola and Luan once played Truth or Dare and found out that ''something'' embarrassing happened to both of them that gave them the nicknames Super-Soaker and Chicken-Lover respectively.
** When Lola asks Lucy why she likes ''Princess Pony'', Lucy responds that it's "complicated".
** In Episode 30, Lana once cried about snakes not having arms. Also, Lucy claims to have been bench-pressed by one of her siblings (presumably Lynn), Lisa claims to have been beaten by an unknown sister at chess who she's certain cheats, and Luan has a tape in her collection called "Lincoln almost dies".
** In After Dark 4, Luan claims that some people made a hashtag campaign to get her to kill herself, then gives advice to never use the phrase "spirit animal" on Tumblr, especially not ironically. Chaz also claims to have babysat once for a couple called Mr. and Mrs. Thorn and now hates their baby.
** In one episode, Lynn says that she can hold her poop in for ages and wants to prove it by bringing up a time she and her siblings visited Pop-Pop.
* NoOneShouldSurviveThat: After reading "A Town Hates a Boy", Lori wants to know how Lynn in the story survived drinking rat poison.
* NoseNuggets: In Episode 20, Lincoln denies ever picking his nose, but Luna says she has seen him do it. Then, Lynn says she can pick hers with her big toe, which grosses out everyone else except [[ThePigPen Lana]], who is impressed.
* NotSoStoic: Lucy is moved to tears by the story in episode 29 ("The Baby I Learned to Love") and even joins in a hug with Lynn and Lincoln at episode's end.
* NowAllowedToHug: At the end of Episode 29, the siblings on the couch are so touched by the story (that depicts one of them, Lynn, at age two cheering her baby brother Lincoln up from a nightmare by sleeping in his crib and acknowledging for the first time that she's his big sister) that they have a GroupHug. Lucy, despite usually disliking displays of affection, [[ConformingOOCMoment joins in]] because [[JustifiedTrope she's just that emotional]].
* OtherMeAnnoysMe: Most of the characters often don't like their fanfic counterparts.
* ParentalIncest: Conversed in "The Edgy House", an After Dark episode which suggests that Lynn Sr. has sex with Lori and Leni, and that Lincoln had sex with Rita. This makes Lori nauseous.
* PerfectlyCromulentWord: Luan gets so disgusted with her fanfic counterpart in After Dark episode 3 that she coins the word "cuntritude" to describe her anger at fanfic Luan's actions.
--> '''Benny''': Is that a word?\
'''Luan''': It is now.
* PerverseSexualLust: InUniverse, they wonder if the author of "Property of Luan Loud" has the hots for Luan because they described her poetically.
* PurpleProse: Invoked in After Dark Episode 2; complete with a pun from Luan.
-->'''Luan''': Sheesh. This prose is so purple you'd think it was being strangled! [Laughs] Get it?
* RageBreakingPoint:
** Lincoln has a [[TranquilFury rather calm one]] in episode 20.2 after the fanfic Lincoln yells at his sisters.
--->'''Lincoln''': I need a moment. I just need to calm down before things get ugly.\
'''Lynn''': Why?\
'''Lincoln''': Because I've had it, Lynn. This is getting on my last nerve. I hate having to look at stupid scenes like this because people think they have a clue about how our family works. I hate how it makes us feel bad about ourselves and question whether we're actually good to each other. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get some fresh air before I lose my cool, and you all have to see what the ''real'' fury of Lincoln Loud looks like.
** Grammy has one in episode 24 as numerous, constant punctuation errors show up, eventually culminating in a massive run-on sentence that sends him over the edge.
--->'''Grammy''': OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, IT'S CALLED PUNCTUATION. YOU SHOULD TRY USING IT SOMETIME. IT'S PRETTY NEAT.
* ReportsOfMyDeathWereGreatlyExaggerated: [[spoiler:Lincoln]] in "A Town Hates a Boy".
* RightForTheWrongReasons: In After Dark: 3, Lori correctly guesses that Benny is Jewish. However, she says that it's because he "looks Jewish", and he points out that there's no one way for a Jew to look.
* RougeAnglesOfSatin: Some of the stories are filled with spelling errors, so logically you'd expect a few accidental words. For instance, in one story, "vicious" is spelled as "viscous", which, as Lisa is quick to point out, means a thick, sticky liquid.
* RunningGag:
** Lisa's reactions at grammar refuses, mainly random shifts from present to past tense, questions without a question mark at the end and comma misuse.
** Whenever any real life show or game is mentioned in a fic, someone (usually Lincoln or Lola) asks if there is any relation between it and a [[BlandNameProduct in-universe equivalent]] (such as ''[[WesternAnimation/RegularShow Humdrum Program]]'', ''[[Series/SesameStreet Poppy Avenue]]'' or ''[[WesternAnimation/HeyArnold Yo, Miguel!]]'').
** '''THE UMBRELLA BUILDING''' which Luan keeps bringing up.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere:
** The numerous grammar and spelling errors in episode 1 ("Bunking In") drive Lisa to distraction, but she finally reaches her breaking point when she sees the following line in fanfic Lincoln's poem: "Me is Lincoln L. Loud."
--->'''Lisa''': That's it. I'm done.\
'''Lori''': Lisa-\
'''Lisa''': I'm DONE. I've reached my limit.
** Ronnie Anne gets so upset at her portrayal in episode 22 ("A Second Chance") that she storms out of the living room, and it's clear that she's been crying when Lincoln manages to bring her back.
* SexyCatPerson: Defied in "Property of Luan Loud", where the older sisters are absolutely grossed out by the idea of sexualizing half-cat-half-human creatures.
* SharedUniverse: Episode 16 confirms that [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12320880/1/Mall-Rats "Mall Rats"]] takes place in the same universe as this series. Episode 18 confirmed that [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12287059/1/Boys-and-Girls "Boys and Girls"]] and [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12237379/1/Lincoln-s-Confidant "Lincoln's Confidant"]] are also set in the same universe. In one episode, it's revealed that ''Fanfic/ShrinkinLincoln'' also took place in this universe.
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend and HeIsNotMyBoyfriend: Lincoln and Ronnie Anne do this a lot regarding each other, even when they're on the couch together.
* ShoddyKnockoffProduct: "Luck" by [=YoshiRocker13=] is considered to be so derivative of other No Such Luck fics even ''Video Brinquedo'' looks original by comparison.
* ShoutOut:
** [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Ember Island Players]] gets one during Episode 8.
--->'''Lincoln:''' The Lincoln who does nothing but cry and mope because he thinks he's the biggest victim who ever lived. Where are authors even getting this from?! I don't do that! That's not what I'm like!
** Lincoln pulls off [[WebVideo/AtopTheFourthWall Linkara's]] 'We should do something!', 'Should we do something?' gag during episode 3.
** In Episode 11, in order to stop Lisa from giving herself a concussion; Lincoln takes her to her room and plays [[WebVideo/SymphonyOfScience A Glorious Dawn]] to put her to sleep.
** Episode 17 ("Luck") has the quartet of authors using the Sin Counter from WebVideo/CinemaSins to keep track of the things the fic does wrong.
** Lola reacts to the disturbing nighttime sequence in "Substitute Roommate" (episode 2) with [[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic the Nostalgia Critic's]] "I'm sorry; I need to drop something" gag.
** Luan says "[[Series/DoctorWho Exterminate]]!" in "Snowmageddon".
** In Episode 29, it's implied that Leni's stupidity comes from [[WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons having gotten a crayon lodged in her brain when she was young.]]
** In Episode 32, when Lincoln's friends don't know which sister is which, Lincoln jokingly asks if they're talking about the sisters or the [[Literature/SnowWhite seven dwarves]].
** When a character named Brock is mentioned in Episode 10, Lana, Lola and Luan ask if they were referring to [[Anime/PokemonTheSeries the one with dark skin and always closed eyes]], [[WesternAnimation/TheVentureBros the stoic one with blond hair and big muscles]] or [[Creator/BrockBaker the one with the beard who makes funny voices and impressions]].
* SillyPrayer:
** The episode about ''One Angry Person'' has the fanfic version of Lincoln muttering angrily in bed, to which Lucy remarks that it sounds like her nightly prayers.
** Another episode has Lori say that, according to the behaviour of the characters in the fanfiction, Lincoln is Satan. Lana says to Lucy, "Oh, so ''Lincoln'' is the person you pray to every night."
* SpecialGuest:
** Ronnie Anne appeared in Episode 12, where they covered "An Older Remedy for a Younger Heart": A fic with a Lincoln who whines about severely missing Ronnie after she moves away.
*** She returned in Episode 22 to help cover "A Second Chance".
*** She returns again in the ChristmasEpisode on "Secret Santa".
*** She returns a fourth time for Episode 35, which has three short stories, two of which focus on her.
** The authors [=MrTyeDye=], That Engineer, [=WildKirbyAtrox=] and [=EpsilonMk46=] travel across dimensions and break into the house to review "Luck" by [=YoshiRocker13=] - or, as Tye calls it, "[[Recap/TheLoudHouseS2E8NoSuchLuckFrogWild No Such Luck]] Followup #24601".
** Because only Lori, Leni, Luna, and Luan (and later on, Lynn) were old enough for the After Dark spin-off, they brought in a fifth character for each episode: Mr. Grouse, Bobby, Benny, Chaz, Sam and Margo.
** Clyde finally shows up in Episode 26 to cover "Class Night" by [=AlexKawa=]
** Liam, Rusty, Zach and Stella help cover "How Many?" by [=AppleJTZ=], along with a returning Clyde.
** Lynn Sr joins in Episode 36 to help cover "What's Cooking?" by [=YoshiRocker13=].
* SpeedRound: In Episode 10.1, the Louds, shocked to find out that a tape recorder in Lily's diaper proved that most of Lincoln's sisters were conspiring against him, and blackmailing Leni and Luna to play along:
-->'''Lincoln''': I... I have so many questions.\
'''Lori''': Me, too.\
'''Luna''': Me, three.\
'''Luan''': Ooh, I know! Let's make a game out of it!\
[Everyone looks at Luan as she pulls out her phone and brings up her stopwatch/timer app.]\
'''Luan''': We'll see how many questions we can rattle off in sixty seconds. Sound fun?\
[The other siblings nod and grunt in the affirmative.]\
'''Luan''': All right, then! [Sets the timer for one minute] Three... two... one... go!\
'''Lincoln''': Who planted that recorder in Lily's diaper, and when?\
'''Leni''': If it was me or Luna, why didn't we just show him the recording when he accused us of lying?\
'''Lily''': Ga ga bloo bloo? [Translation: And if it was me, why didn't I show him?]\
'''Lisa''': And how did they even know that the words spoken at the meeting would clear their names and incriminate the rest of us?\
'''Lori''': How did Lily go that long without having her diaper changed once?\
'''Luna''': If Lily was at the meeting, why didn't she at least try to speak up for Leni and me?\
'''Luan''': Wouldn't Lincoln have had to rewind the tape before he heard anything from the meeting?\
'''Lynn''': Did no one notice that bulge in Lily's diaper before Lincoln did?\
'''Lucy''': And how did-\
[Luan's phone beeps.]\
'''Lucy''': Dang it.
** They do this again in episodes 19 ("Snowmageddon") and 21 ("Truth or Dairy").
* SpoofAesop: Sometimes, the Louds jokingly add a moral to the fanfics. They've done this with...:
** "Bad Blood" - "For sure you shouldn't fight and destroy all things in house" [sic] (a quote from Rita).
** "One Angry Person" - "If your family member resents you, you can always buy their affection back" or "If you act like a brat, your family will shower you with gifts".
** "Whipped" - "All but three of [the Loud sisters] suck eggs" (four of the Loud siblings in general, since Lincoln wasn't an AdaptationalJerkass, but that didn't help).
** "Snowmageddon" - "If you almost mortally wound your brother, a brief apology and a promise you don't intend to keep are all it takes to earn his forgiveness."
** "The Sleeping Boy" - "Never try to wake Lincoln up early on a Saturday".
** "A Town Hates a Boy" - "Don't use your siblings as guinea pigs for life-threatening experiments. Also, Lincoln is not dispensable."
* {{Squick}}: InUniverse during [[http://theloudhouse.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:MrTyeDye/Fanfiction:_Peeking_Through_the_Fourth_Wall_(Episode_8) Episode 8: "One Angry Person"]], when Lincoln spits gargled water into Lori's mouth. This is also the Louds' in-universe reaction to "Property of Luan Loud".
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: Lincoln's reaction when he reads Episode 27's title, "A Town Hates a Boy".
** Lisa has this reaction when she sees the second story in Episode 11 is called "My First Fanfic, I Know it's Really Bad". However, she ends up finding the story itself rather decent.
* ThisIsReality: After Grammy's [[spoiler:pretend]] FaceHeelTurn in the Halloween special ("Attack of the 50 Foot Sister"), he begins to update the story to accurately reflect what would ''really'' happen when a 50-foot tall human wreaks havoc on a city.
-->Lynn covered her face. "OW!" She looked down and said, "Cut it out! We're fighting!" She stomped one of the tanks, causing the soldiers nearby and inside to '''''be crushed into mulch. Because that's what happens when you apply 250,000 tons of force to a human body.'''''\
'''Lola''': I don't like this story anymore...
* TitleReadingGag:
** In Episode 4, when the kids find that the story they will {{MST}} is called ''[[https://theloudhousefanon.fandom.com/wiki/Road_Trip_Rage Road Trip Rage]]'', they fear that it will be the third DarkFic in a row.
** In Episode 24, Lucy comments that it can't be good when she sees the story is called ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13199789/1/Lincoln-Betrays-Lucy Lincoln Betrays Lucy]]''.
** In Episode 7, when Lola hears that the story is titled ''Diary of a Loud'', she gets excited, thinking it sounds "juicy". [[TemptingFate She doesn't end up liking it.]]
** In Episode 27, Lincoln says, "Uh-oh" after reading the title, which is ''[[https://theloudhouse.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:Austria-Man/L:_A_Town_hates_a_Boy A Town Hates a Boy]]''.
** In Episode 3, when Lincoln reads that the title of the fanfic is ''[[https://theloudhousefanon.fandom.com/wiki/Bad_Blood Bad Blood]]'', Lori comments that [[TakeThat anyone who sings]] the Music/TaylorSwift song of the same name will get smacked.
** In Episode 28, Sid gets excited when she sees the story is called ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13459017/1/The-bestie-that-stole-my-heart-Sid-x-Ronnie-Anne The Bestie That Stole My Heart]]'', since she guesses that she's in the story.
** In Episode 33, when Lynn sees the story is titled ''[[https://theloudhouse.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:Metool_Bard/Fanfiction:_Will_Lynn_Tell%3F Will Lynn Tell?]]'', she comments that it's "neat" to be getting another story about her.
** In Episode 11, Lisa says, "[[ThisIsGonnaSuck Ohh, boy!]]" when she learns the title is ''My First Fanfic, I Know it's Really Bad''. Despite this, however, she [[IDoNotLikeGreenEggsAndHam ends up liking the story]].
** In Episode 18, when the kids read that the story is called ''[[https://theloudhouse.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:DandyAndy1989/Fanfiction_-_Hugh%27s_and_Kisses Hughs and Kisses]]'', the sisters, with the exception of Lily, become lovelorn, since Hugh is their crush.
** In After Dark: 2, when the girls and Bobby read that the title is ''Tryst of Fate'', they comment that they don't know what a tryst even is.
** In After Dark: 3, when the girls and Benny read the title of the story (''Diary of Luan Loud''), they comment that it sounds similar to the story read two episodes ago (''Property of Luan Loud'') and the story read on Episode 7 of the main series (''Diary of a Loud'').
** In Episode 20, Lucy gets excited when she sees the title is ''The Fury of Lincoln Loud'', since she likes the idea of it being about a "[[NightmareFetishist tormented soul]]".
* ToiletHumor:
** In Episode 10, Lana points out that you can't clog a toilet with your pee, and she's tried. Later, Lori wonders how fanfic Lily could've gone so long without having her diaper changed.
** In the episode covering "A Second Chance", Lana wonders why Lincoln doesn't want to eat food that's been near his butt, noting that "it's where it's gonna end up anyway".
** In Episode 31, Lana thinks of a poetic quote and claims she thought of it while "taking a whizz".
** In Episode 20, Lynn boasts about how long she can hold her poop.
** In After Dark: 6, Lynn is proud of her farts.
* TokenEvilTeammate: According to Lisa, the "mean sisters": [[BigSisterBully Lori]], [[DeadlyPrank Luan]], [[JerkJock Lynn]], [[BrattyHalfPint Lola]], and [[InsufferableGenius Lisa]] herself.
* TokenGoodTeammate: According to Lisa, the "nice sisters": [[HairOfGoldHeartOfGold Leni]], [[CoolBigSis Luna]], [[DarkIsNotEvil Lucy]], [[AnimalLover Lana]], and [[MoralityPet Lily]].
* TooSpicyForYogSothoth: Sometimes, Grammy has trouble correcting said grammar and spelling errors; and at one point[[note]]The sentence "It splashes and he carries in the pool."[[/note]], eventually gives up.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Several of the fics the siblings read tend to exaggerate their worst traits, and they don't hesitate to cry foul at said portrayals either. Lynn and Lori tend to get this the worst, as well as Lincoln in "One Angry Person" and Lola in "The Diary of a Loud."
* ToyBasedCharacterization: Episode 29 reveals that Lucy, who's a gothic, morbid young girl, once sacrificed her toy turtle to a demon.
* UncertainDoom: In "Trustworthy", it's not revealed if Izzy and El Diablo died in the fire or if they actually ran away like Lana thought.
* UnconventionalFoodUsage: In episode 27, one of the jokes that the kids react to involves Luan slipping on a carrot as a gag.
* UnwantedFalseFaith: Luna and Leni don't like always being seen as the "nicest sisters", if not the only nice sisters.

** Episode 28 ("The Bestie That Stole My Heart") has [[WesternAnimation/TheCasagrandes Ronnie Anne, Bobby, Carl, CJ and Sid]] reading the story, as well as having their own counterpart to Grammy in Gramito.
* VillainSue: InUniverse, Luan from After Dark: Episode 3 is considered one.
* VolatileTasmanianDevil: Episode 20 has one of the sisters point out that some of them have "the attitude of a Tasmanian devil", so their parents should expect fights.
* WarmMilkHelpsYouSleep: Parodied when Lisa sedates Lola with a mixture of chamomile tea, children's cough syrup, and warm milk.
* WaxingLyrical: Luna will occasionally sneak song lyrics into her commentary, just like she does in canon.
* WokenUpAtAnUngodlyHour: Discussed in Episode 2. Luna, while reading a story in which she calls her roadie Chunk and asks for pizza at three in the morning, notes that if she tried doing that for real, he'd probably hang up on her.

* WouldHurtAChild:

** In ''Diary of Luan Loud'', Luan rapes Lincoln.
** In ''The Edgy House'', Lori and Lynn rape Lincoln.
* YouKeepUsingThatWord:
** In episode 17 ("Luck"), the fic's constant insistence on referring to Luna as Lincoln's "guardian" wears on the quartet of authors until That Engineer finally snaps towards the end.
** In "Diary of Luan Loud", the Louds point out that the fanfic version of Luan is described as "psycho", when "evil" would be a better word.
** In "The Diary of a Loud", Luan wonders if the author even knows what a joke is after Lynn says, "I don't get the joke" as a response to Lucy saying something that wasn't a joke, and Lola laughs at her own nonexistent joke.
* YouMonster: The older Loud siblings and Benny consider the Luan Replacement Sue from "Diary of Luan Loud" to be the most OOC anyone's been on the show.
-->'''Luan:''' So this version of me is a bully, a cunt, a sociopath, and a pedophile. As far as I'm concerned, the rest of you have lost the right to complain about how you're portrayed in these stories.\
'''Benny:''' You know, when you invited me over here, you didn't exactly tell me we'd be reading about you molesting your siblings.\
'''Luna:''' She ''raped'' [Lincoln]. I don't think "sorry" would cut it even if she meant it - which she totally doesn't.\
'''Lori:''' Aaaaand now she's killing kittens. [[TemptingFate I'm wondering if there's anything left she can do to make herself more hatable]].\
'''Leni:'''[[note]]After reading that Fic Luan used her hairbrush to masturbate[[/note]] Ew, ew, ewwww! What is wrong with this girl?! [to Luan] I mean, how would you like it if I did that with one of your things? Like, I don't know, your rubber chicken?
