* [[https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/754738-candlejack Here's]] Franchise/{{Batman}} [[UltimateShowdownOfUltimateDestiny vs.]] JustForFun/CandleJack. [[spoiler: Batman Wins.]]
* Noriko Null from ''Literature/BeyondTheImpossible'' does it so often she earns the title Slayer of Gods, killing Demeter is considered completely unprecedented in its universe: not only she’s the first mortal to kill a goddess, she does it with a MindRape machine.
* In ''WebVideo/CarmillaTheSeries'' Season 1, Laura kills the Dean, apparently a thousands-of-years-old vampire by dropping a rock on her head. [[spoiler: It doesn't stick, because the Dean is actually a god.]]
* In the Roleplay/{{Crinoverse}}, this happens a lot. The final Chicago Avengers adventure had the heroes facing off with Omega, a being who destroys entire universes. First his armor is blown off, and then he's punched so hard he explodes.
* In the [[http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/295102457/rpgs-are-evil-dark-dungeons-the-movie "Dark Dungeons: The Movie!"]], Debbie ends up summoning Cthulhu by playing too much D&D and in the end she defeats him through the power of prayer.
* In ''Roleplay/DarwinsSoldiers'' the FunnyAnimal WrenchWench Sharon, fought Death with a shotgun and an improvised flamethrower. And ''won''.
* ''WebAnimation/DeathBattle''
** In one of the most triumphant examples of BadassNormal ever, [[spoiler:Guts from ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'' destroys THE single most powerful entity in the VideoGame/SoulSeries, Night Terror]]. And then [[spoiler:he also takes out Inferno and smashes Soul Edge to win the fight]].
** Also, [[spoiler:Franchise/{{Kirby}}, who is 8 inches tall and utterly adorable, absolutely destroys Majin Buu, the most powerful and terrifying villain in the Franchise/{{Dragonball}} universe, ''by blasting him into the sun'']]. BewareTheNiceOnes indeed.
** [[spoiler:[[VideoGame/MegaManX Zero]]]] manages to destroy [[spoiler:[[VideoGame/SonicHeroes Metal Overlord]]]], the very same being who in an earlier episode of the series, managed to destroy [[spoiler:Wily and Eggman's entire armies and then the entire world]], and whom [[spoiler:Super Sonic]] needed ''help'' to defeat in canon.
* ''WebAnimation/{{Dreamscape}}'': Keela instantly kills the Master of the Dammed by simply shattering his scythe in the flashback in "Tale of the Unworld".
* In 'The Camping Webisode' of ''WebAnimation/DSBTInsaniT'', Alex makes a mention to Killer Monster of all the powerful beings he and the others defeated in the past, not fazed by Killer Monster's threat.
-->'''Alex''': We have taken out mismatched freaks of nature created by ancient serpents, mad scientists with powerfull monsters under their command, and demons who can take over the planet! You don't think we can kill some fire-breathing beast?!
* ''WebVideo/EpicMealTime'': [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ITsGZJustI Did they just eat Cthulhu?]] (Meat Cthulhu, that is.)
* "[[WebAnimation/EpicPonyTime Epic Wub Time]]" has [[spoiler: Vinyl [[{{Pun}} soundly]] defeating Discord with [[CurbStompBattle one shot]] of her [[ThePowerOfRock Wub-powered]] "[[WaveMotionGun Bass Cannon]]".]]
* In ''Roleplay/TheGamersAlliance'', the heroes of the Grand Alliance work together and defeat Nergal, the God of War, in combat.
* ''Blog/HowToHero'' mentions a superhero whose day job is being a ballboy throwing a baseball at Cthulhu.
* WebAnimation/LumpyTouch follows up his Gorefield Horrorscopes series with a tier-ranking system on what loot you would get from killing your WesternZodiac sign EldritchAbomination assigned specifically to haunt and try to murder you or worse. Including a shot of Lumpy's AuthorAvatar killing the [[GiantEnemyCrab Cancer Gorefield]] with MoreDakka and then making soup out of it.
* In the second season finale of ''WebVideo/MarbleHornets'', Jay is sleeping inn his hotel room when he [[spoiler: hears Jessica scream from the adjoining room. He jumps up to help her, but then stops and turns around. [[EldritchAbomination The Operator]] has materialized into his room behind him. Jay pauses for a minute, as if considering whether to run away or not, but then just takes [[TakeAThirdOption the]] path of greatest awesomeness and tackles the Operator out a window.]]
* [[http://youtu.be/3YgnZ09wZVA This video]] has [[spoiler:[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Rainbow Dash]] punch out [[Franchise/TheSlenderManMythos Slenderman]] to protect Fluttershy.]]
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykwqXuMPsoc Narwhals stop Cthulhu eating ye]]
* In ''WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic'' special "You're a Rotten, Dirty Bastard", the Critic does this to Roger the angel ''three times''. When he first finds Roger in his home, he punches him in the face thinking he's a Jehovah's Witness. The next time Roger comes up to him, he punches him in the groin so hard it temporarily ''paralyzes'' him. Finally, at the end, when Roger [[spoiler:turns evil and attacks him]], the Critic [[spoiler:kills him by shooting him in the face.]]
* Various episodes of ONA ''Literature/NyarukoCrawlingWithLove'' have [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent Mahiro Yasaka]] stab Nyaruko's hand with an ''elder sign'' (read "mundane fork"). Of cause it's parody, but consider that she's Nyarlathotep...
* ''Website/TheOnion'' gives us [[http://www.theonion.com/articles/nasa-completes-52year-mission-to-find-kill-god,19263/ NASA Completes 52-Year Mission to Find, Kill God]].
* [[WebAnimation/PonyDotMov Jappleack]]'s plan to defeat the Titan of Honesty, an EvilGod who can travel through multiple planes of existence and devoured the other five Titans? ''Eat him''. [[spoiler:She succeeds.]]
-->'''Twilight''': You're talking about a centuries-old inter-dimensional leviathan the size of a planet who devours entire planes of existence. Jappleack, what are you thinking? You can't eat Appelox!
-->'''Jappleack''': [[IronicEcho Fuck you, I can't eat Appelox.]]
** [[spoiler:In the GrandFinale, Rainbow Dash, after coming BackFromTheDead and causing reality to reset with a Sonic Rainboom, ends up defeating Discord. Possibly justified since she used the Sword of the Holy Titans summoned by Twilight, which Twilight Prime considered about the only spell that ''may'' have been effective against Discord's father Appelox if they could've found someone to wield it.]]
* In the famed {{creepypasta}} ''Russian Sleep Experiment'', the best defense against [[spoiler:the physical embodiment of mankind's daytime fears]] is found to be [[spoiler:a TT-33 pistol.]]
* In ''Literature/TheSalvationWar'', this trope is definitely in play. In ''Armageddon?'', the human race kills off [[spoiler:Satan]] and in ''Pantheocide'' [[spoiler:Yahweh, the entity behind the Abrahamic deity]] is next on their list. Powerful as heck and incredibly long-lived (functionally immortal against old age? ''Maybe''), but not invulnerable...
** As it happens, [[spoiler:Yahweh]] was punched out by [[spoiler:the Archangel Michael]], but the human race did manage to punch out [[spoiler:Uriel, the Angel of Death]] though.
* The Website/SCPFoundation is devoted to containing and studying Cthulhu-grade anomalies that threaten or endanger human sanity, existence, and reality as we know it merely by existing.
** There are at least two subversions: [[http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-343 SCP-343]], who is literally omnipotent and only contained voluntarily, and [[spoiler:[[http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-2317 SCP-2317]], whose containment procedure is all just a farce and whom the Foundation has utterly given up on stopping.]]
*** The latter was [[SealedEvilInACan contained legitimately back in its day]], by [[BeyondTheImpossible a mere 10,000 soldiers in 1894 BCE.]] Their only technology? [[spoiler:Chains made from the bones of another abomination of the same species, whom they must've already killed. In a forum discussion regarding the SCP, Dr Clef puts forth a hypothetical scenario in which, when the abomination finally ''does'' break free, it is almost immediately killed by direct fire from a [[{{BFG}} 105mm howitzer]] battery. To say that the O5's feel a bit silly is an understatement.]]
** And when they actually have to kill one of these uber-creatures? At least in the case of a RealityWarper, a little distraction and a good SniperRifle tend to work wonders. They have to know you're there to defend themselves from you, after all.
** Special mention to the case of [[http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-1983 SCP-1983]] and the awesomeness of D-14134. Basically, 1983 was a house filled with TheHeartless, an elite team sent in to investigate was slaughtered to a man so they sent a disposable BoxedCrook with a camera in to scout it. The tether snapped and D-14134 was lost. Several hours later the house vanished suddenly in a flash, leaving only the dessicated remains of the team and an informal report written by one of the agents. It is believed that D-14134 somehow found the report and weapons, and then like [[VideoGame/TheSuffering Torque]], ''[[DyingMomentOfAwesome fought his way through the house to the creatures' nest and destroyed it]]''.
** [[http://scp-wiki.net/scp-4100 SCP-4100]] chronologies how, in the distant future, the entire population of Earth fled the planet to escape an extinction-causing EldritchAbomination known as the "Destroyer", but not before [[spoiler: attaching FasterThanLight engines to the planet and ''plowing the entire Earth into the Destroyer at faster-than-light speeds'']].
** [[http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-3999 SCP-3999]]: An insane RealityWarper [[spoiler:which happens to be the author of the story]] [[AGodAmI proclaims itself God]] and warps the entire universe around tormenting Foundation researcher James Talloran. How does Talloran react to the realization that a nigh-omnipotent being is destroying reality and rebuilding it around torturing him? [[spoiler:He figures out that everything 3999 does is centred around him because it can't exist without him and [[HeroicSacrifice commits suicide, erasing 3999 from existence.]]]]
** According to [[http://www.scpwiki.com/twistedgears-kaktus-proposal the TwistedGears-Kaktus proposal for SCP-001]], the Church of the Broken God finally revived Mekhane... [[spoiler:and he immediately started devouring everything in his path. Eventually, the Foundation and the GOC were able to kill Mekhane, [[BeenThereShapedHistory creating the Gulf of Mexico in the process]]]].
** [[http://www.scpwiki.com/scp-2950 SCP-2950]] initially appears to just be an exceptionally comfy chair that affects people's minds slightly so it's hard to get them to get up. Then you read the classified addendum and find out that [[spoiler:it's actually an entity that becomes what the majority of people think it is. It managed to trick the Foundation into thinking it was a Cthulhu-level threat so it became one. However, the Serpent's Hand knew of the creature's true nature and warned the Foundation. This lead to an arrangement involving all Foundation and Hand members except O5-6 and an unnamed Hand member having their memories wiped and being told that SCP-2950 was an exceptionally comfy chair, trapping it in that form forever]].
** The [[http://www.scpwiki.com/war-on-all-fronts-hub War On All Fronts canon]] starts off with the Crocosquid, which is a god-like figure in some timelines, being killed with a nuke by the GOC.
*** When the Crocosquid returns to life in the "Anastasis" timeline and brings an army of its own kind with it, the Foundation ups the ante by [[spoiler:creating a ''Film/PacificRim''-esque giant robot that fights them to the death. In various battles, Dr. Kaori, [[EnemyMine with help from the Serpent]], kills several of the monsters. The Crocosquid itself manages to beat both of them, only for Dr. Kaori to initiate the failsafe and unleash a colossal blast of solar energy that incinerates it]].
** [[http://www.scpwiki.com/when-we-came-home When We Came Home]] is the story of how [[spoiler:[[SatanicArchetype the Scarlet King]] was defeated, slain and cast back into the Great Abyss during the final battle]].
** [[https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/tanhony-s-proposal-ii SCP-001]] "The Black Moon" is a more proactive Entropy, a force which constantly wipes out random pieces of the universe until there is nothing left. The Foundation Administrator is the last in a line of people working to find a way to defeat it, and they do find a way, though it's hardly ideal. The Administrator does it by creating a Conceptual Space, a sort of idea-room where everything exists solely as information, which visually resembles a bar. Since it only partially exist, Entropy will come for it last, and once it does, it will attempt to enter through the "path of least resistance". Specifically, the Administrator leaves a tiny place in the concept where the black moon can exist, shaped like a human. He then proceeds to beat the ever-loving crap out of Entropy itself, before killing it by hitting it in the head with an ash tray. And just to top it of, since the universe is officially wiped out, he then presses a button he had prepared for just this occasion, declaring "[[ResetButtonEnding Let there be Light]]".
* In the Steve Poling short story [[https://www.libertyislandmag.com/creator/stpoling/content.html?ln=southernfriedcthulhu2 ''Southern Fried Cthulhu,'']] Cthulhu makes the fatal mistake of invading a southern redneck town. After driving half the townsfolk insane, a handful of those lucky enough to have been shielded from his mind-control rays kill him with tinfoil hats, Molotov cocktails, shotguns, and a batch of thermite -- then slice him up and fry him. Then they get a hunting license to go after more...
* About 8 minutes into [[http://www.thatguywiththeglasses.com/bt/the-sage/fanfic-theatre/12844-mftep10a this dramatic reading of a fanfic on TGWTG]], Robin Hood kills Cthulhu. With a bigger arrow. In the eyehole. To be fair, the guy who wrote this fanfic [[Fanfic/DoomRepercussionsOfEvil was the demons]].
* One of the stories from ''Creator/UrsulaVernon'''s "House of Red Fireflies" series mentions a madam at the titular brothel who'd once killed a god [[GrievousBottleyHarm with a broken beer bottle]].
* ''WebVideo/WarningReadersAdvisory'': [[spoiler: Averted! The Bard's not dumb enough to try it.]]
* In the Literature/WhateleyUniverse, Sara Waite fights The Kellith in dreamspace with a knife. And wins. Even if Sara Waite [[spoiler:''is'' The Kellith, or one is part of the other, or they're a duality, or something.]]
** It actually makes sense in context: the 'Kellith' in the dream represents [[spoiler:the magical brainwashing her supposed high priest was trying to inflict on her.]] Of course, that technically makes it not quite an example of this trope -- but then the Whateleyverse also has Tennyo, who apparently ''eats'' {{Eldritch Abomination}}s, demons, and the like. (The jury's still out on whether she counts as one herself.)
* In ''Literature/{{Worm}}'', Taylor manages to [[spoiler:essentially bully a nigh omnipotent world destroying alien to death. By targeting Scion's psychological weakpoints, she drives him past the DespairEventHorizon, and he allows himself to be killed.]]
