| Mário Monjardim Filho[[note]]"Filho" means "son", as in "Junior"[[/note]] (January 16, 1935-July 30, 2021) was a Brazilian actor, voice actor and voice director. Best known as the most prominent voice of Shaggy, Bugs Bunny and Foghorn, he made a huge career in voice acting with his thick countryside accent and improvised catchphrases, which he often used for different characters. |

| Like most Brazilian dubbers from his time, he started his career in radio: he'd decided to pay a visit to the dentist, only to find that where the place had become something quite different. [[DistractedByTheSexy Distracted by the cute female attendant from there]], he decided to approach her and ask her what she was doing and what that place had become, and she told him that she was organizing files of candidates to work at a new radio station, named ''Rádio Vitória''. His curiosity piqued, he decided to hazard a test for what was then a novelty in the countryside. From there, he moved to ''Rádio Nacional'', then the most important station in the country, and to TV, becoming a pioneer on more than one media. Additionally, he became member of the first group of voice actors, which consisted of radio artists like himself who participated in recording lines for foreign productions in the earliest dubbing studios. Those names included his friend Creator/OrlandoDrummond, with whom he'd voice the iconic duo Shaggy and Scooby Doo from the earliest series, which first aired in Brazil in 1972. It goes without saying that his voice is just as associated to Shaggy as Drummond's is associated to Scooby. |

| In 1984, he decided to quit dubbing and returned to his hometown Vitória, remaining there for a couple of years before coming back dubbing his characters. This brief period is the sole reason why he didn't share a place with Orlando Drummond in the Guinness for the longest time voicing the same character. |
| |
| He continued to voice non-stop for the next thirty years, until he suffered a stroke in February 2017. Despite this, he could still see his favoured heir for Shaggy's voice, Fernando Mendonça, play the character in the 2020 CGI movie ''SCOOB''. |
| He passed away from complications of his stroke in July 30, 2021, three days after his friend and professional partner Orlando Drummond. |
| |
| His son Júlio Monjardim and granddaughter Giulia, also became voice actors in their own right (Júlio even became Foghorn's official VA from ''Film/SpaceJamANewLegacy'' on). |

| !!Tropes associated with Mário Monjardim and his roles: |
| |
| * TenMinuteRetirement: In 1984, he decided to quit dubbing and return to his hometown, Vitória; this lasted only a year and eight months before he decided to return to dubbing. |
| * ActorSharedBackground: He liked to say that he shared a lot with Foghorn because of their similar countryside backgrounds. He also voiced similar characters such as Nugget Nose, Lucky Jack and the hillbilly father from "Princess and the Frog". |
| * CoolOldGuy: Had a prominent career playing iconic characters and continued to do so well into his early 80's. His daughter Julia commented that even after his stroke, he still carried his good humour until the end. |
| * LargeHam: One interview even had him noting. |
| * VocalDissonance: Why he almost turned down Creator/MatthewLillard's Shaggy in the live-action movies. He thought his aging voice wouldn't fit a young man like Lillard, but it turned out to work out thanks to Shaggy's more cartoony characterization compared to the other human members, so much so that his and Orlando Drummond's reprising their roles is considered [[JustHereForGodzilla one of the main reasons the movies are so popular in Brazil]]. |
| ** Played straight when he voiced both Shaggy and Matthew Lillard AsHimself in ''Looney Tunes Back in Action''. |
| * VocalEvolution: His voice for Shaggy grew hammier and higher-pitched as he aged, and closer to Creator/CaseyKasem's. You can see the difference by comparing [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63ksBvyEzaU the original]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bhrDbWlnZw and second dub]] for the infamous "Bat-Milk" meme. |
