3Jimmy Thompson, born James Edward Thompson, (30 October 1925 – 21 April 2005), was a British actor best known for his work on stage and for playing Sam Turner, the barman in ''Film/CarryOnCruising''.

5In 1956, he became famous for his impersonation of Music/{{Liberace}} on stage in ''For Amusement Only''. He and his wife, Nina, co-authored a musical comedy called ''The Quiz Kid'' in 1959.

7In TheSixties, he appeared in three ''Film/CarryOn'' films, then worked for Creator/PeterRogersAndGeraldThomas again in ''Film/RaisingTheWind'', and in 1967, starred in ''Lieutenant Tenant'', the first [[Creator/TheBBC BBC2]] play to be shown in colour.

9After his wife died in 1999, Thompson retired to York. He died at the age of 79.
